  1. I'm going to say yes... But the biggest problem is that there isn't a QB on the field that can get the ball to them over the top of the defense. Dye has some nice speed but really lacks that extra gear that DAT had that would get him into the end zone on a big run. Dye gets a nice burst and gets down the field but had been caught from behind a few times instead of making it all the way. Seven will be one to watch.
  2. The fans need to see a solid win by Oregon here... I'm really getting tired of having to sit on the edge of my seat until the final whistle blows... And even then last week I was scouring the field to make sure no ref threw a flag just because...
  3. He didn't want to move his family to Eugene ... I doubt they will want to move to Pullman. Now it isn't a requirement to move the entire family to the team's location but it is just weird and screams short term.
  4. Yeah that argument doesn't work.... By this point in 2019 Herbert had at least 2 games where he threw for 5 touchdowns and was definitely averging more than 200 yards per game.
  5. Herbert willed the 2019 team forward because he was that talented. He made the players around him better and got everything he could out of them... Which at times wasn't much. Also 2019 had probably the best defense in Oregon history. It was loaded with juniors and seniors with some incredible freshman talent sprinkled in... Note... Sprinkled in... KT was a freshman and he did have a good season but he wasn't the leader and he could grow and make mistakes. Our defense is still growing up. Sewell has only now played a full seasons worth of games! However, offensively this year Oregon has the athletes to kick this offense up a notch but lacks a quarterback who can run it in top gear. We are basically stuck in second right now and occasionally make it to third gear. (I may be young but I do actually drive a manual... So I'll stick with this analogy... Haha! Stick.. it's a pun!) The Moorhead system is slowly....SLOWLY emerging... Again the pistol is basically gone at this point. The hardest thing for college athletes isn't always the physical... They have that... But the mental aspect of the game. This could be the thing that is holding Thompson back... Not an excuse but maybe an explanation.
  6. I agree... The offense needs to get out of its own way and get a QB who can run the offense at 100%. The defense has been making improvements but just isn't consistent at this time. They can go from an incredible set of downs to another set where they implode.
  7. Feld is what is called a "belt coach" where part of his job is to keep the HC off the field. There are quite a few pictures of him pulling MC back. Lots of coaches use their strength.coaches in that way.
  8. Rankings this year are all over the place without having a normal high school season last year and the evaluations that come with it. Quite a few recruits will get bumps, while others we will just have to see if the coaches did a good enough job in the evaluation to see what these players can do.
  9. USC has a knack of firing their head coaches mid season... They have fired their last three head coaches during the season. Orgeron was the interm HC after Kiffin was fired. The players loved him but USC hired Sark instead. A year and a bit later they fired Sark and then Helton became intern head coach... And was then hired as full time HC. Don't know how I remember all that..
  10. Absolutely on defense... KT really makes everyone look better out there and brings some great energy and encourages energy out of everyone else. Sewell also has great energy but it doesn't always translate to the team.
  11. Things do have to change... But in truth this coaching staff tends to be slow to learn and make changes. I mean the pistol wasn't working and we have finally phased out it's use as our always use formation. So that's nice.
  12. Arizona found their QB and he has since been injured for the season. I think it took any life out of that Arizona team.
  13. Another positive observation last night... No new injuries. DJ James ... Maybe as it looked like he headed into the locker room at one point. However, he was just walking, didn't looking in pain. So who knows why he was leaving the field... But I would imagine it was mild. So maybe this team gets healthy.
  14. KT

David Marsh replied to jega's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
KT really brought some energy to the defense. Need that kind of leadership on the field.
  15. I think by the end of the game Cal fans were tired of hearing about KT and Oregon fans were tired of hearing about how Cal was going to pull off the upset. I will add to the list of positives.... NO PISTOL! I don't remember seeing any pistol plundges last night... Just shotgun.
  16. I don't think they have worked under center to be honest. They haven't done anything under center in a very long time. I personally would like the victory formation to take a snap from under center.
  17. Clock management wasn't bad for the end of a half. Might as well use all the clock and not leave enough for the cal offense to try anything. The turnover was the big problem. Also... Brown is really showing right now that he can't process and make the right decisions fast enough.
  18. ... and a turnover... The slop just continues.
  19. Hate to say it... But it's kinda deserved at this point. If Brown hit dye when he was running out of the backfield that could have worked .. instead he came back to Dye too late and got nothing for it. More bad decisions.
  20. And... Brown with two more wrong reads.
  21. It's going through be a long night at this rate.
  22. So apparently Washington is wearing retro uniforms this weekend. You wouldn't know it unless you were told. Feels like some lame marketing if you ask me. Also they are supposed to be uniforms honoring their 1991 "National Championship" ... You know the one they split before they actually played a game to crown a winner. Anyways ... I had a laugh at the Huskies. Especially since this is the year they lost to an FCS team, were demolished on the road by Michigan, and we're beaten by the Beavers. UCLA should give them a tough game. It may result in a Washington loss which would be pretty funny for them to lose in THOSE uniforms.
  23. He looked cautious against Arizona. The last snap he played he limped off the field but turned out to be fine... It looked more like one of those "oh crap" moments where something didn't feel right and he didn't want to risk it. Against Stanford towards the end of the game he was getting better push and eating double teams. He still didn't look quite as explosive. However, I'll say it may be due to more rust than anything else. Bring sidelined doesn't help, even expirenced players.
  24. I believe Cristobal's desire to win a national championship for Oregon is genuine. That isn't the case with every coach when or if they say it. 95% of schools don't even have make the playoff as one of their realistic goals. So maybe... Just maybe ... That Stanford loss hit Cristobal in a way that he is going to let everything fly and trust his players and staff that they will deliver. Oregon can still make the playoff ... At this moment I know that is theoretically true but it doesn't feel true. There is only one path to the playoff and it's win out. Easier said than done... But the team that played at Stanford won't make the playoff... Or even the Rose Bowl.
