  1. On3 or scoopduck in particular? I know scoopduck has moved a decent chunk of weekly recruiting info to their podcasts, available on YouTube. Personally I find a 20-30 min video/podcast about recruiting to be a bit dull but they're out there. I tend to like that 5 min video on recruiting. I'll also say that this staff is really big game hunting this cycle. They are going big due to roster constraints. So not terribly surprising that we haven't had too many commitments. Higher ranked players usually take longer in the process.
  2. Apparently he was in the Star role at Oregon. As the defenses are very similar I'd imagine that might be his fit for Georgia.
  3. That one was a surprise to me for sure. I assumed that Gill didn't make the rotation for the Ducks defense and that's why he opted to transfer. If that was fully the case then it's hard to imagine Georgia would be his landing spot. Also culturally Oregon and Georgia are going to be fairly similar, so culture rub really couldn't have been the issue. Maybe he wants to be closer to home. He is from Maryland, and Georgia is a LOT closer to Maryland than Oregon. I haven't seen anything that answers the question though. Seems difficult to imagine that Georgia is desperate for a safety, but maybe they are, you'd know better than me.
  4. Watching some parts of each fan base makes me think that some fans like recruiting far more than the actual game. For me it feels me going in the off season. But for some all they seem to be interested is how many stars a player has and if they're interested in their team. Recruiting is important to every program but I always feel that is what coaches are getting paid to do so I personally don't try and get too worried about it.
  5. The portal kinda wiped away the pain of those misses. At least for top programs. As those in the top tier can usually get some big players from the portal whereas other teams won't. Granted those lower in the pecking order tend not to get those big recruits anyways.
  6. I think there will need to be a cut in the number of season games with an expanded playoff. Even if it's just by one ooc game.
  7. I think it was probably the foundation for modern Oregon football. Or at least that season was with the Rose Bowl appearance. Even though I did not watch that game at the time, I was 5, and I wouldn't become interested in Oregon football at all for another 14 years at the very least.
  8. I could see Miami getting to the ACC championship game this year... And then losing. But that's probably enough hope for the Miami fans to buy in for another year.
  9. Also the name recognition helps. I knew who Dillon Gabriel was before he signed with Oregon. I didn't have to look too hard to find out some stuff about Evan Stewart as his name I didn't know right away.
  10. In truth... I keep an eye on recruiting but I never remember the names. At least not long term. I usually look through and just pick up on generalities. I get excited to know how well we are doing and then hope to see these players make the rotation.
  11. I think he's going to make the playoff for Miami... Unlikely to be this year... But he'll put together some winning seasons. I don't anticipate him winning the championship or getting deep into the playoffs because he will be out coached. But he would have gotten the Ducks into the playoff a couple of times with a 12 team field. He'll win but there is a difference between good teams, great teams and national title winners. Also... I don't think Miami will have the cash to get rid of him if he makes the playoffs every few years. His contract is expensive. And I'm glad they gave Oregon about 8 mil in the process.
  12. I think Cristobal will be there for a while... Remember the man crushes the off season. Cristobal Has Spoiled Fans By Winning the Off-Season | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM Mario Cristobal will be Oregon’s head coach in 2022. The only way this doesn’t happen is if he opts to leave... He recruits well, hires well (he may not allow them to do their jobs but he hires well), and he gives hope for the next year.
  13. Yes and no... Lanning is brining a modern tale on physicality to Oregon. Oregon Football is The Embodiment of Modern Physicality | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM As Oregon fans, we heard all about physicality from former HC Mario Cristobal over the last four years... One that is just as much about brute force as it is about outsmarting the opponent. Last season I felt I was highly critical of when Oregon went against their more physical. Play... What Happened to Oregon’s Jumbo Formation? | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM Last year we saw Oregon use its jumbo formation, referred to as 14-J, which meant one running back with... And I think when Lanning and Stein embraced it and brought it back to the forefront it brought some real power with it. Is the Jumbo Formation Back for the Ducks? | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM Did the coaches read my article last week after Oregon’s loss to Washington asking where the Ducks’... And they did the the week after I criticized them for not using it as much. So I like to think the read the article but I highly doubt it. The first article I posted in this post is one of the articles I am most proud of. I do feel that Oregon will not only fit in with the B1G but dominate it. Cristobal was wrong. It wasn't about more power and more muscle. Power is about brawn and brains... Because making them opponent make a mental mistake can take them out of a play more than physically pushing them off the line... Just let them move themselves out of the way for you and give them a helping push. While you score a touchdown that is.
  14. To be honest I hate the argument for college sports being they don't do this at the pro level. That's one of the things that makes college football unique and fun. However, I think there should be some limitations on those ooc games and a standardization of conference games. SEC teams shouldn't be allowed to schedule two FCS opponts and certainly not have one game placed at the end of their season. Getting rid of these games would really hurt a lot of FCS and G5 programs as they need these games as a part of their revenue stream. So if the desire is to allow those programs to survive then other means of funding will need to be found.
  15. And I'm sure there will be a lawsuit following the ACC demise. I think the ACC will survive like the Big 12 has been permitted to survive as a G5+ conference. I think the left behind teams will make a lawsuit accusing ESPN and Fox colluding in the destruction of their conference to enable them to gain more control over the sport. They did it with the Pac-12 already.
  16. That would make sense... he was out effectively the whole year including camps. I can see why the coaches wanted to get him from the portal but it didn't pan out. Wish him the best no matter what. Football is hard on bodies and sometimes it's best to get out before doing more damage.
  17. I love it ... But I'd never do something like that because it would still mean I have that purple and that W on my vehicle.
  18. They'll be fine in baseball... Just don't let them know about their other sports.
  19. You're thinking of Junior Angilau. Cornelius was from Rhode Island and has started at right tackle since he arrived. Angilau has been injured. We'll see if he is able to make an impact.
  20. Helf and the staff opted to not put in Jake Hanson and burn his redshirt all for a second half of a bowl game. Thankfully they've changed the rules on redshirts so they can play in bowl games for free and they get 4 games to play before brining the shirt. Hanson was the clear No. 2 for the majority of the season... Just not with 30 mins left on the clock until the season ends.
  21. Well they could also be a preferred walk on... And there could be an NIL deal that pays for school and housing. Just saying... Roster limits aren't what they used to be.
  22. The other big thing that I think Lanning is really motivated by at Oregon is being the first to bring a national championship to the school. If he becomes Bama's head coach he has to follow the all time greatest coach in Saban but at Oregon he gets to forge his own legacy and do something that the program has not done before. To date the best season in Duck history is still 2014. Heisman, Rose Bowl victory and National Championship appearance. Need to get that national championship and Lanning is forever the man who brought Oregon it's first football national championship home.
  23. Sadly I'm a good few years away from feeling I could do something like this. My girls are 2 years and 2 months respectively. But I'd love to be the green dot in that. Especially when the ducks kick their butts.
  24. Every conference will rue the day the Pac-12 died! The Pac-12 is Dead; Let Chaos Reign | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM The Pac-12 was the conference of cannibals and usually the most chaotic conference in the country. It...
  25. Umm... How did ALL the coaches who left Oregon do in their post-Oregon careers? Brooks was unremarkable.... Kelly was fired from Philly and San Fran and left UCLA in a tenure that generated about a 50% win rate. Now he's an OC. Helfrich was fired and spent a year as an OC in the NFL and was fired... But that felt like a scapegoat firing but he hasn't dipped his toe into coaching since. Taggart... Taggart who? Cristobal... Doing the same thing in Miami he did here but with less success. As you said this is a hit piece. Oregon is a destination and the coaches who left all left for a dream job. Kelly for the NFL, Taggart for FSU and Cristobal for his alma mater of Miami. Lanning is building his program and building his loyalty to the institution.
