Currently it's the same numbers getting thrown around. Apple tv and 20mil per school. But that could just be the pac-12 network and the apple side of things. I'd be shocked if there wasn't some part of media plan that didn't include ESPN or Fox or CBS. I'm all for streaming as part of the package... Just not the entire package.

A very well grounded comment. Thank you. I don't think anyone anticipated signing anything today. I also think as fans we misread what this meeting was about. I think we anticipated GK to do a big public presentation for us but that isn't what would have happened if the schools didn't know the deal and didn't sign off on it first. I'm sure a lot of schools will be having meetings with those involved who need to know.

I feel the same way in that regard for college sports. But I also know if Oregon moves it would be fine for the sports, I just wouldn't like it. We will also have to wait and see what this media deal has in it today.

Maybe... Probably what everyone is hinting at... But I'd also like to mention that Oregon's donors are always going to support Oregon and beyond that the school didn't pay for Lanning's raise... It was from a donor that is not named Phil Knight. With that kind of support it seems foolish not to sign an extension.

We will get this... The Oregon brand is too good for it to be forgotten. Oregon's going to be just fine no matter what course they take. We have donars that will ensure we don't fall behind.

Or do as Clemson has done... Beat everyone you're supposed to and then in the playoff win the biggest games.

GK needed or needs more time. He was seriously on the job for maybe a month and a bit before the LA schools left. The media deal is getting there... But perhaps to get the best deal there just isn't time to get it done. Larry Scott is the one who put us in this mess that's for sure. If a media partner owned part of the pac-12 network the LA schools wouldn't have been so easy to pry away.

Even if that 20mil number is true it would be a massive upgrade for G5 schools. The PAC will survive but it would be a far cry from a power conference. Remember the mountain west is only paying out about 4 mil a year. The pac won't die... But it would be somewhere between the G5 and P2. It may also take the better part of a decade to be rebuilt. If given enough funds, time and the right leadership a G5 school can become a P5 school. But the one thing the PAC is out of at this point is time.

In truth this is what I have heard a bunch of big-12 reporters saying for MONTHS now. So if it is true I'd be very disappointed.... But I'll believe it when I see it. I believe streaming can be overcome after people have had a year to get used to it...streaming is only getting stronger while the traditional forms of broadcasting are getting weaker. The trend is in the right direction in that front. But I find the 20mil number far more concerning if true. The number needs to be around 30mil or higher.

No... It feels like the PAC is being squeezed by media companies. I know that Fox and ESPN want the PAC on the cheap to fill out the rest of their inventory. They consider this conference only good for late night programming. I'm hoping that the 20mil number is only part of the overall deal and there is another component that brings in more.

If it's 20mil then yeah....I guess I'll get off the "hope the PAC stays alive" train. Going down from our current number would be a disaster. Keeping in mind the current media contract is over a decade old when it was written we shouldn't be going down from there.

I watched some highlights of Oregon demolishing Colorado... Especially when DAT returned a punt, which he let bounce, back for a touchdown.

The seating differential will depend on whether they are still renovating half of reser stadium or not.

Reports: George Kliavkoff Expected to Present Media Deal - On3 WWW.ON3.COM Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff will reportedly present a media deal offer to current athletic directors in the conference. For the media deal announcement anyways... then we enter the next phase of this long drawn out ordeal. So the waiting may soon be over for the media deal... but then we get to wait some more to see what happens next.

I've been saying it for months now that the big-12 is all the travel of the B1G but half the payout. Not worth it.

We'll just wait and see... At this point it's all about Fox and what Fox wants.

Alabama on that list is a head scratcher. So is Oklahoma at Tulsa????

They said Colorado was a fine deal months ago... It turned out to be true but it took a while to get there. Yeah circumstances have changed a bit, I think Colorado was probably the easiest pickings for them and the least valuable target for the PAC to lose. It's a gut punch but it's more emotional right now than anything else. It changed the Pac-12 picture but its not a death blow as so many think it is. Arizona would be a whole lot worse. I think Colorado got cold feet and looked to bolt earlier in the year and were calmed down. Then there were a lot of pressures out on Colorado and they decided to leave. The key here will be is can the PAC get their media deal announced and voted on before Zona feels the need to run? Not looking likely based on the track record to date. But I find it hard to imagine that this is a done deal without any announcements.of board meetings or anything of that nature.

If I was dreaming I'd probably go bigger ... Take Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. They feel like bigger pillars to the Big-12.

I would like to emphasize here that Canzano is passing on what he heard. This may not happen on the time table we are thinking but what he has heard.

B1G because the big-12 is boarderline irrelevant. And I don't even care about any of the teams there. Sure an occasional OOC game would be fun ... But not a conference load. I'll take Oregon v WSU over Oregon v anything Big-12 on a seasonal basis. But I'd rather choose PAC. So gun to my head... B1G.

And the PAC would survive in a vastly diminished state. And let's just assume they only get like 16mil per school for their media deal... That would still be four times more than what the MW pays out right now (4 mil).

Pate was really focused on the CFP stuff. So let's presume that the playoff does only take the top ranked teams and no auto bids. Oregon could still very well be one of those teams. Unless the committee drastically changes how they select CFP teams with one loss will be IN. Then some two loss teams will be IN. Branding matters too. The committee will want big brands in the playoff as long as the teams qualify. The bigger problem would be how to get multiple teams in the playoff. But again... Look at 2019... Oregon and Utah BOTH would have made a 12 team playoff. Not USC, UCLA of Colorado...

Only the worst fans root for the demise of their rivals through something as horrendous as conference realignment. That's no way to "defeat" a rival. USC fans have been doing it for a year how they have destroyed Oregon by leaving the conference. Sports is played on a field... That's where the competition is. I know you're indifferent to the beavers ... But I know I also want the Huskies to survive so that we can continue to kick their rears on the field. Last year was a hiccup but this year they'll feel the pain return.

I tell my Beaver colleagues all the time that I want the Beavers to win 11 of 12 games a year. They are probably my 2nd team in truth. One of my Beaver colleague friends is a great guy and a lot of fun to talk football with and that rivalry game has really been a huge part of the state's culture. In a lot of ways its why I would really love to see the Ducks and Huskies (vomit) stick it out with the Pac if it was possible but that isn't football these days. Rivalries are dying. I mean that is probably a large part of why Colorado had their eye on the door basically since they joined the conference. They didn't have any rivalries in the conference and that does put a dampener on fan interest. It didn't help that they also the doormat of the Pac for all but really a season and a half (the Covid season). But the Pac tried to "build" a rivalry between Colorado and Utah and that failed. Utah instead built some starts to some rivalries in the Pac while Colorado was repeatedly stomped on. For rivalries to develop there needs to be a back-and-forth. The funny thing is that returning to the Big-12 won't have their two biggest rivals (Nebraska and Oklahoma) aren't even in the conference anymore.
