  1. Going to be this way for years... This time every year is going to have Lanning as a top candidate for such and such job.... Until he is embedded so much at Oregon that it becomes a why bother. No one is saying Smart are Saban are on the market because they are so settled in their jobs that they aren't moving for anything.
  2. And then if they some how manage to convince Lanning it would be another 20ish mil for his buy out ... And then the actual sallery on top of that. They probably could do it if they really wanted to but I don't think Lanning is going to bite. He is building his own loyalty as Oregon by building his own program. I also don't think his family would be too keen to move again when he has already said multiple times that he feels bad about moving them as much as he has.
  3. But I'd say Oregon State has a better defense than most of their recent boat races.
  4. We burned a LOT of clock because the defense kept them in check. We didn't need to play a shootout so we didn't.
  5. Win by 9... Fine I'll take it. Not exactly what I wanted but I can live with this.
  6. I don't like being up by just 8 points.
  7. Caleb Williams may start getting worse out there due to exhaustion. He has been running his butt off and no one can keep that up under this pressure.
  8. So far USCs defense has opted to sell out to stop the run.... On the bright side they can say they haven't allowed Oregon any first downs..
  9. Oregons balanced offensive attack is going to give USC a few choices. 1. Sell out to stop the run ... And get beat by Nix passing it all day. 2. Sell out to stop the pass ... And Bucky Irving has an amazing day. 3. Try and stop both... And Oregon does what we it wants. I'm hoping that Oregon puts up at least 60 on the... But I dream of 70.
  10. So.... Washington scored just as many points as Oregon in their win over Utah with 35. But allowed... 22 more points. It really annoys the crap out of me we lost to Washington when we are clearly the better team.
  11. Looks like Utah just ran out of offense. Washington can kill the clock and win it.
  12. The Utah player watched the film from 2014 when a Utah player dropped the ball before the end zone and Joe Walker ran it back. Because the Ute was all like... "There's a ball here... And it's not in the end zone... I better jump on this..."
  13. Washington would get beat by Michigan or Georgia. They've been lucky when they have needed to be this year. The refs also seem to be watching their backs because they should be flagged far more than they are. It just irks me that Washington gets away with stuff the Ducks never would.
  14. Oh that cristobal offense... I certainly don't miss it. The runner goes straight ahead into a pile of linemen, both offensive and defensive, when there is an open lane if the back were to just cut and take it. It's amazing how many yards Verdell and Dye ran for in this offense but could you imagine their numbers in the Lanning offense???
  15. Also... Washington is getting away with loads of holds from their offensive line again. The Ducks would have been penalized for most of those. You can't hug the opposing defensive lineman to set the edge. That's called a hold refs.
  16. Washington played out of their freaking minds against Oregon and Oregon shot themselves in the foot in so many ways that game. I think that was a massive learning game for the oregons staff. So....I don't follow the Huskies that closely but I'm sure they have some November depth issues at the moment. They have very little depth overall and it's November so most teams usually need to start digging into the depth. Not always because players are injured and out of the game entirely but because players start feeling the wear and tear of the season and just need more rest.
  17. Well Utah has scored more points against Washington than they did all game against Oregon.
  18. In fairness... Their defense will get them the ball back pretty quickly I'd think. It just might come with a 7 on the score board.
  19. Not feeling it out of Penn State here. They just don't feel dynamic enough on offense to deal with Michigan. At the end of the day it might be nic to eliminate Penn State from CFP chaos with another loss. Michigan and Ohio State will most take care of themselves. It's the teams with one loss in the first half of the season that are the danger to sneek into the playoff. Oregon is one of these teams.
  20. Go Texas Tech... They aren't the same team we faced. But it wouldnt hurt for them to be a bit better for our resume.
  21. I am aware I am posting this before game day... So the three of you who read this before Saturday, I apologize. For everyone else you're reading this on one of the biggest days of the season for the Ducks. I am feeling good about a Ducks win but they do face a big eyeball test, at least a score board eyeball test. It's a pac-12 after dark game which means the majority of the East Coast is going to bed and they'll only look at the box scores in the morning. And this game's box scores against USC is going to be huge because our biggest competition right now are those darned Huskies and they just played USC last week. Now if Oregon can beat USC by a wider margin and potentially score more points, I'm hoping for 60, that will go a long way to showing those on the east coast that the Ducks are currentlu the better team. Additionally, Washington plays Utah today as well. I anticipate Washington winning this one, it's also at Washington, but if the Huskies are in a close(r) game it will go a long way to showing just how much better our Ducks are. After all, the Ducks put Utah away so thoroughly that Utah looked like an unranked team. Can Washington keep Utah to below 10 points? Unlikely. Will they score more than 35, that's a possibility but Oregon put Utah away and just ran out the clock against them. The Ducks didn't need to score more points. So for the box scores eyeballs... Let's hope that the Ducks run up the score and that Utah makes Washington look a bit more mortal. I'm torn as to if I want Washington to lose or not. I always want them to lose but I'm conflicted in that I am unsure how it will or will not help us. I think Washington is a top 10 team but not top 5 and they've been very lucky to date. Oregon has impressed the committee in how they are putting away opponets like Georgia, Alabama and Clemson all did on their title runs... Leaving no doubt whose the better team. And Oregon should get another shot at Washington regardless ... Unless there is a major disaster somewhere. So go Ducks!
  22. The short narrative comes from British propaganda. If you look at the political cartoons of the era from Britain they depict Napoleon as short and with what is now referred to as a Napoleon complex. See look how tiny he is in this cartoon. It's. Mostly the British poking fun at the French and Napoleon because Napoleon can't touch them due to the British sinking all the majority of their Navy at Triffalger. I like to think the Ducks make political cartoons making USC look short and silly. Probably could make char GBT come up with something.
  23. Except Napoleon understood the value of defense.
  24. I'm feeling pretty relaxed about this game at the moment. This was not the case before Washington. I think this new confidence I'm feeling is that the gams prep by this team both from coaches and players has been so much better since that loss.
  25. If he stays with the Ducks through this season he may get a ring or two for being apart of the team. But I think if he wants to get the primary target or at least a top target for a team and make a run at the draft he may want to go to a team with a bit of a rebuild but with a solid quarterback and offense to get him seen. ASU wouldn't be a bad option for him in that regard.
