  1. Of course, that reference is to Charlie Brown getting ready to kick the ball as far as it’s ever been before. Lucy pulls it out at the last minute. So much buildup. So close. And yet so far away. So much that was lost once again on a national stage. Anybody else having trouble wrapping your brain around this one?!
  2. My question is why were the Mutts attempting to throw on those last two downs with a chip shot field goal lined up for the win?!!
  3. Sounds like a consensus- Huskies and Penix played like their old Butt sniffing selves aided by the PAC 12 refs. thank you Duck buddies for the summary!
  4. I did not get to see the Washington versus Arizona State game. But looking at the stats and scoreboard had me wondering how the Sun Devils could hold the Huskies to only field goals while our Ducks gave up touchdowns? Were the Huskies just hung over or did Arizona State expose something in the Fusky offense that we missed? Just curious as to your thoughts.
  5. Thanks Hill Billie for that great post. I grew up in OakRidge but I am about 10 years behind you. But the names and events still bring back memories. it was nice to have your post as context, and contrast to the good times that we have of Oregon sports these days.
  6. I wanted to embrace Charles idea that this could be Oregon’s coming out party. I feel they are oh so close and trending in the right direction. But, alas, even if they were able to come out with the W, it would not have been quite the dominant stamp we were looking for. Let’s hope Oregon can get to the Pac 12 championship game and wipe out Washington or whoever gets there and I believe we can still be in the place that Charles was foretelling. My Green colored glasses remain firmly in place!
  7. Might need to make some shirts- “We won’t be Buffaloed!” With the Duck riding Ralphie.
  8. Jordan Burch had 0 tackles. Where was he?
  9. Ducko that is a great take. Maybe yours is a “half empty” and Charles is a “half full” but I agree with so much you said. Either way we are forced to take a wait and see approach with this defense and what Lanning sees in Tosh. Go Ducks!
  10. Thank you Charles for your deep dive into this defense. I must admit that when I saw that touchdown drive by Portland State, I said to my brother, “oh no, it looks like our defense has not changed from last year.” When you refer to, “defensive adjustments” that were made after that drive, would you say the adjustments were in personnel or scheme? Possibly guys getting coached up to be in the right position? Probably too early to tell, but aside from personnel, what makes this defense different from last year? Especially the Oregon State game when it seemed like no adjustments were made to the beavers pounding us all second-half with the run? Obviously more answers to come following this weeks game. As always, appreciate your take and glad to have someone help dispel some of my disquieting defensive thoughts.
  11. I will never be a fan of the Hurricanes, but I must say, I will be forever grateful! 😉😁
  12. Great breakdown David. I agree that Irving can be as valuable as a piece to this year‘s team as Bo Nix. If there is no more billboard space left around the country perhaps we can get a Bucky banner up in the USC cafeteria. 😁
  13. Love him but there’s some guys ahead of him, (Bobby Moore, DAT, to name an old and a new).
  14. I would love to see Thompson for the third quarter and Novostad for the fourth
  15. Am I allowed to say that I don’t like Lupoi? Never saw anything from him at his previous stops in the PAC 12.
  16. Nice post and welcome featherbutt. Like you, I moved out east, and relied on my parents to send me the Sunday sports section. In addition, when I was a kid, I used to race to the mailbox to beat my dad to the sports section before he got home from work as the guard used to be an afternoon paper delivery, believe it or not.
  17. Perhaps we finally have an answer to our punt return problem.
  18. Thanks Charles for providing a great place for me to get my daily, (often several times a day) Duck!
  19. I am a little worried. As many of you know there is plenty of history between Chip Kelly when he was with the Ducks and Tosh Lupoi when he was with Cal. Such as when lupois Cal Bears defense was getting boat raced and he had to fake injuries to slow down the Duck offense. How has Lupoi changed since then? Did his time at Alabama help him? What makes us think that things will be different?
  20. Agreed. Not good enough yet to be that loud. Reminds me of the guy who shows up for pick up basketball donning all the latest gear in bright colors and can’t hit the backboard. Stick with the “nightmare green”
  21. I appreciate any silver lining article at this point and that’s coming from a young “grey beard” who has sat through many beat downs of the Ducks at the hands of a superior opponent. But I must say that more and more I find myself resigned to the thought that, although Oregon can be a very good team, a national championship will be out of their reach. I feel the Chip Kelly revolution was their closest opportunity as it caught the blue bloods off guard. Now they have all caught up and surpassed the Ducks scheme advantage. Everything I have been reading about Dan Lanning I like and I’m looking forward to seeing where he takes the program. I even like most of the uniforms. But there is another side of me that wonders if all of the things that attracts some of these recruits with the flash and glitz of the uniforms and facilities also causes them to be soft and complacent after arrival. I will continue to root on my ducks as I have for the past 50 years and I am hoping to be proved wrong with my pessimism of the Ducks ever winning a National championship. Thank you so much for the positive articles along the way!
  22. Nice link. Speed kills on Defense as well as offense. No doubt having the world class track facility to show recruits does not hurt.
  23. Hey MaiTai, it sounds like we need a governing body to direct things much like other successful organizations have used. They are certainly on the Broad Road these days.
