  1. In my life's experiences, I have found that often pride and money can interfere with good judgement. Now that the Bruins have made their decision to follow the back stabbers from ussuck, i fear that pride and money will cloud their judgement to the bitter end. Once most of us unzip the fly on something it is often difficult to reverse the course. The powers that be at ucla told one of their greatest ambassadors, its all about the money. I pray GK builds multiple media rights that bring enough of that driving force called money that our Ducks do not feel compelled to bolt from the PAC.
  2. Drex, thank you for the article and taking the time to round up those offensive efficiency stats. My props go out to what is arguably the Ducks best offensive line, maybe ever. They run block and the stats support they are #1 at pass protection. Yes Bo is reading the defensive sets and calling audibles and check downs. But they are giving Bo the time to go thru his progressions and the receivers time to get open. Then Bo is operating at a high level of execution. Fun to watch. Props to Dilly for solid game plans and in game adjustments. The diversity in play calling off just a few basic formations must be keeping opposing DC's up all night. IMHO, the committee will not hold the Georgia beatdown against the Ducks. It will help the Ducks, immensely if The Dawgs beat down Tennessee and finally play as well as they did against the Ducks. As long as OBD's win out the main reason they will miss the invite is because their are 6 undefeated teams and a one loss Bama ahead of them. There is a good chance that when the dust settles there will be 4 undefeated conference champions left standing. Probably wont happen, however if it does, the committee will not be considering the Ducks. All the Ducks can do now is beat Colorado and see if Georgia survives this weeks game sgainst the Vols. GO DUCKS!
  3. IMHO, Oregon needs Georgia more than Georgia needs Oregon. It would be very difficult for the CFP committee to ever place a one loss Oregon over a one loss defending National Champion. Especially after a 7 touchdown beatdown, head to head, on the field. The best result for Oregon is for Georgia to win out and then hand Bama or Ole Miss its 2nd loss of the season. Then a Clemson and TCU loss along the way to open up a spot or 2 for a Duck invite. However, lets not get too far ahead of the next game..... GO DUCKS! Beat Colorado....
  4. For that kind of money the Ducks should maybe head to the BIG......Now....... A few months back, ESPN valued the PAC 10 media rights at $300 million annually. Thats $30 mil, per season each school. Now remember, ESPN bases that figure on number of TV's. So a potential deal with Amazon, who needs sports content for 165 million USA Prime subscribers is only worth about $3-$4 million a year, per school. Something doesnt add up! Especially if Amazon wants and needs the PAC Network. A network with broadcast equipment, staffing for broadcasts, announcers, studio abnouncers and 12 years of broadcast history. WTH..... Now only a fraction of the 165 million subscribers will watch the PAC games. But still the price seems very low. Also the PAC has 3 National Brands. Oregon, and to a lesser degree, washington and Utah. Please, anyone on the Forum, tell me what existing or incoming schools in the BIG 12 has a bigger national brand that those 3 PAC teams.
  5. Pennsylvania Duck, thank you for taking the time to dig out all these Duck stats and accomplishments. Fun stuff to look over. Well done......... Now we need 4 of the teams ranked ahead of the Ducks to lose a game or 2. And Georgia to win out.. Go Ducks. Beat Colorado
  6. Charles, thanks for those stats. You have been the loudest voice in the room, during the MC years, that CFP teams score about 45 points a game. Since the butt whoopin in Georgia the Duck offensive machine is doing their part for a CFP invite. The O Line has been superb. They are as dominant a force as this years and last years Dawgs D. They deserve serious props...... The receiver group are blocking downfield, running effective roites and catching passes. Catching TD passes. The Duck running backs are hitting their holes, following blockers and making elusive adjustments. Yards after contact has been impressive. I really can't remember the last fumble? But to me what stands out is, unlike past teams, they are overcoming their mistakes. Whether its penalties or dropped passes they rally together and overcome. Look at how they rallied around Hutson's dropped TD pass. We all know how bad he felt! Some on this forum probably popped a vein in their neck or forehead. But not the coaches or players What a joy to watch this offense..... GO DUCKS!
  7. Potential or full potential being realized is very elusive and in many cases is unobtainable. However goals can be set and then achieved. Then new goals set and then, also, achieved....... Peaking early or too soon happens to the very best. Those who strive to improve, then set goals for improvement, work at that improvement to acheve their goals, rarely peak. They just reset and move forward. Those who say they can't, well can't. Those who quit, settle for less then self defeat. They peak far to soon. Dont see any quitters on this staff or player roster. Looking foward to the next level of improvement and achievement. GO DUCKS! Show us what your ceiling for achiement is........
  8. Oregon 56-13 3 turnovers 4 sacks 312 yards passing GO DUCKS!
  9. It's difficult to know where to start on this subject. Joey and the alums surely meant well. Whats frustrating is that Mullens took that as good advice. Nothing as sound as good intentions. WTH? So glad that Justin stayed at Cal. This forum would be losing its mind if this talented team was 3-4 or even 4-3. Mari no O just throttled the offense. Justin has no clue what a offense is....... While listening to Canzano last Monday about Wilcox it was brought up that Mullens and the powers that be told Wilcox they alrrady had his assistants lined up. There was no option for Wilcox. Canzano asked Wilcox if that was true. Wilcox said that someday he would sit down and tell that story. Telling? The real story is who brought Dan Lanning to Mullens attention? Who convinced Phil that Dan Lsnning was the right hire? Now that would be a good story. Tonight when I say my prayers I will thank God that Justin made the right decision. He may have saved the Ducks 2022 season and Mullens his job. GO DUCKS! Beat CAL......
  10. Great article Charles, i can imagine all your brain cells being burnt around the edges. And great insights, teachings and big time, world class comments by OBDF members. One of the best threads this season. Thanks to all. The forum has been a great and safe refuge for me during a very difficult time. A great escape. This one of a kind site just keeps getting better and better because of all of you.
  11. The Duck D would have to show dramatic improvement beyween now and any potentially CFP game. Dont get me wrong the defense has improved since the beat down in Georgia. However, what game since Georgia, has the Duck D played that leads us to believe yhey can hang with the real Dawgs? debbieduck makes some valid points....... The Ducks O would have to play a near perfect game. The Ducks moved the ball well but made critical and key mistakes in that game. Yes, they have rolled since that game. But against who? I believe the Ducks have the coaching leadership and improving player talent to go 12-1 and make the CFP....... When and if things fall in line our OBD's could get that Dawg rematch. But they will be facing the reigning National Chsmps and that will still be the real Dawg Defense on that field. And their O is filled with freakish skill players. I hope Bo gets his chance for a rematch, but Georgia 42 - Ducks 24. Honestly thst would make a great story and it would be a great season. GO DUCKS! Beat Cal........
  12. I can see how any of us would feel like CalBear95 does. So many words written and no substance. Feels like a waste of time. I dont think this is the case. The future lifeblood of the PAC 10 is and will be the next media rights deal. There is nothing more important for GK to work on. I wont spell out details because it is very complicated to merger multiple parties. Getting competeing factions to play along with the streaming future. Patience Duck fans. My son, who runs our company, has been working on a strategic merger with a competitor for most of 2022. They approached us and initial talks were sugar and Spice. As we got down to values, routing, customers and key personnel, it was obvious they needed us not the other way around. From that point on it was final details and then a contract. Lots of players involved. Each has a goal and set value. Takes time and we got some real clueless presidents with big egos. Goodcthings come to those who wait. At this point GK should have alot to say. But he wont. It may feel empty but it isnt. GO DUCKS.
  13. Yes, in an 8 team format, the SEC would not sign off on automatic qualifiers for conferemce champions. IMHO, this is about money. No schools can afford less games that equal less revenue. 4 games being played around mid-december would not be any problem for the regular season schedule. 4 teams eliminated. And those 4 winners will have at least 2 weeks to prepare for the next round. The 4 teams with a bye will have 3 or 4 weeks to gather eust. If anything the Natty will be played mid January. These game payouts will probably exceed $15 million for each team, win or lose. Imagine playing in 3 or 4 games to win a natty. The money may be greater than you receive for the season. Even if the powers that be ( SEC BIG) want the first 2 rounds completed in 2 successive weeks so the semis are played around New Years Day, well so be it. The money is simply to good to pass up.
  14. Smith72, thanks for posting the Wilner article. For us fans, the elephant in the room is the upcoming media rights package. It feels like these on going negotiations are just crswling along. Or going nowhere! Certainly thats not the case. This is an area where GK has experience and should be a strength for the PAC 10. As Wilner suggests the mix between networks, cable and streaming could most benefit the PAC 10. Time will tell...... My concern still is and always will be the arrogant presidents and chancellors standing in the way. Remember, Direct TV wanted to carry the PAC 12 network. The 10 fools didnt like the dollars that the cable giant was offering. They felt the PAC 12 network would out perform those dollars. Well how did that work out?
  15. So many things have to happen in order for the Ducks to get a CFP invite. IMHO.... Ducks must win out. One game at a time. Roll each and every opponent. They must be an impressive 11-1 going into the P-12 Title Game. usc needs to win out and beat at 10-1, ucla. They need to live up to their press clippings and cowherds natty annointing for them. The trojans carry more chache than the bruins. Writers and talking heads will bring a Duck vs usc game to the top of the national spotlight. Beating ucla for a 2nd time may not move the CFP committee's emotional meter. 2 other important things MUST HAPPEN. First, Georgia must beat Tennessee. No committee member will put Oregon ahead of a 11-1 Georgia. OBD's had their chance and got destroyed. Chasing a rematch will be more compelling than asking the committee members to have Oregon jump The Dawgs.... 2nd, Georgia needs to hand Bama, Ole Miss or LSU their 2nd or 3rd loss of the season in the SEC title game. That scenario will shorten the top 4 to Georgia, tOSU, Clemson and a 12-1 Oregon An undefeated TCU could and would be problematic for our Ducks. GO DUCKS! Destroy Cal. ..
  16. Great comments and insights on this thread. With NIL, anyone can and may transfer out. Consider that some players,, around the country, who have great seasons may get better NIL offers. No matter how frustrating this situation becomes, i will wish them well and hope they prosper. I have poured 44 years into my industry and helped develope a profit center within an industry. A competitor recently made me an offer that 5 years ago i would have taken. Timing is everthing.........
  17. Was down in SoCal at a business conference. My U Of O cap was meant to be disrespectful to my SoCal associates. Many who are rabid trojanless fans. All they did was complain that they were cheated out of victory. And that they will kick r butts in the title game... GIVE ME A BREAK! The pissing, whining and moaning over the PAC 12 refs calls in the Utah/usuck reminded me of 3 things: 1. How dilusional trojan fans are about their teams. And their sense of entitlement 2. How dilusional the leg lifters are about their teams. And their sense of entitlement 3. My ex wife's constant pissing, whining and moaning 26 years after my parole from my life sentence with her. And her still sense of entitlement toward all that I have and own. I will never change my ex wifes attitude or actions. But thankfully every year we can wipe that smirk off the leg lifters faces. Let's hope we get a shot at usuck this year in the P12CG. Question is will the Trojans make the game? If not the officials will be blamed. GO DUCKS.........
  18. Jordan, nice recap article of what our Ducks have done since the September beatdown in Georgia. The Ducks picked themselves up, made incremental changes and improvements and the Bruins found out what a real Top 10 Team is....... It appears each week Coach Lanning and his staff work to fix what needs fixing. The players respond and show improvement. Actual player development taking place in Eugene. Well done coaches and players. No let downs or reading press clippings. GO DUCKS!
  19. Ducks 49-27 3 4 224 passing yards Ducks need to score often. Need 3 stops by the defense and a few turnovers. This game should bot be close. If it is the Bruins have the talent to steal the win. GO DUCKS!
  20. Alex, thanks for the article. Your thoughts and analysis create a great recipe for a Duck victory over the Bruins. All the ingredients you spelled out are in place for the Ducks to bring the Bruins win streak to a close. I would only add that the Ducks D needs to step up and defend the home turf. Defend it with smart play and violence. Get the home crowd involved early and often. Yes, the Bruins are good but their record and stats are built on a strength of schedule in the 100's. This is their first and biggest road test game of 2022. The rain could be a factor but i do not expect this to be a close game. The Bruins lalaland fantasy will come to an end. GO DUCKS.......
  21. Absolutely! Lets hope he can start his climb to greatness this Saturday....
  22. Flowe has the Mike Singletary look! When he gets enough game day reps to gain much needed experience, look out... . Flowe is naturally gifted, perhaps the make up of a freak. Let's hope this Saturday he puts it all together and has much needed face time with DTR and Charbonnet. Preferably in the Bruin backfield. Thanks Charles for this great picture. Your endless hours do not go unnoticed.
  23. Lrod makes a good point that the Ducks need to take all their opponents apart on the field. No close games or squeakers. Kick butt in everygame. DazeNconfused made a great point that a 12-1 Duck squad, on a 12 game win streak would probably jump a 1 loss Clemson, TCU or OK State. As long as they dont struggle against lesser opponents. Clemson has long term credibility in the bank with CFP Committee. Do the Ducks? Also, the SEC has a scenario that could arise and complicate the 4 playoff teams. If Vols beat Bama, Georgia beats the Vols and then Bama beats Georgia (hope not) in SEC Title game then you could have: Bama 12-1 (SEC Champ) In The Dawgs 12-1 In Vols 11-1 win over Bama ? If the Vols play Georgia tough it will sit on their resume better than our 49-3 beat down. I despise Bama but it might be in OBD's best interest for Bama to beat the Vols. Remember all CFP decisions are tilted toward the all mighty SEC.
  24. It could be possible but a tall order for sure. A 12-1 Duck team would not be a lock for the CFP. A number of teams would have to play there way out of consideration. Bama, t OSU, Clemson, OK State and Georgia would have to have 2 losses for the Ducks to jump them. Fun to think about but 10 wins would be a great first year. Along with a top 10 recruiting class
  25. Byron, thanks for the article. Lots to agree and disagree about. Also many great thoughts and ideas feom the Forum members. However, decisions made need to make sense to your conference members and media partners. In fairness to Houston, in order to minimize travel, a pod of 4 or 5 schools in Texas and Oklahoma would need to be added. A pod of schools. Does that move work for ESPN, Fox or other cable or plug in networks? Maybe! But it does not move the money meter. Will the viewers in that region watch the Longhorns, Aggies, Sooners or Houston in head to head time slots? We all probably know that answer.... Adding teams does not add to the value of the media rights contract, it dilutes it. 10 teams splitting $250 milllion or 14 teams splitting $250 million? Which one will the PAC presidents choose? Texas, Oklahoma, usc and ucla bring high value media rights to their new respective conferences. The teams being mentioned in the thread don't bring that type of increase Streaming service companies bring a entire different need to the table. Amazon has more subscribers than the networks can get eyeballs. Streamers need content, especially those that are building a sports division like Amazon. The PAC provides any streamer a ready made sports broadcast partner. GK knows this and it appears he and his team are working thru the progressions. There are many on this great Forum who want GK to land a great deal with the networks. That shipped has sailed. Fox does not want the PAC and spent big on the BIG. ESPN said the PAC has about a $300 million annual media rights value. Maybe the writing is on the wall. Great discussion topic and great responses. The only chip the PAC has is late night broadcasts on Friday and Saturday night, at this point. Does anybody believe in magic?
