IMHO it feels like ESPN is in the position to take serious advantage of the weakened PAC 10. Lock out Fox and get the PAC cheap. At the same time give their network partner ACC a pay raise. Smart business move. It's in the BIG 12's interest to poach and destroy the PAC, if this article is accurate......... If 4 teams leave the PAC and join the BIG 12 then the new, expanded BIG 16 could step in and replace the now defunct PAC. Either way ESPN controls 3 of the remaining 4 Power Five Conferences. And the PAC 12 network is left for dead. As easy as it is to lay all the blame on Larry, well the 12 arrogant, incompetent in sports business, presidents shoulder the lions share. GEEZ, you lame ... fools, start making some quality decisions. How does it feel to negotiate from a position of weakness? Sorry for the rant. Of course there is no way to know whats true and accurate.

sad BIG12 fan......thanks for posting that brand value chart. Not sure of all the criteria used ro compile these statistics. It seems that the BIG is more interested in the number of eyeballs owning televisions. FOX and the BIG made a bold move and effectively robbed the PAC of near 30% of its TV sets. USC and UCLA brand values were less than i expected. Evidently the BIG and FOX didnt care. So how do we replace those 5.5 million tv sets in the LA Basin. Heres my thoughts. Not worth much but here goes in regards to the BIG 12 and PAC 10 only. I prefer other routes but here goes PAC 10. Keep all 10 and invite San Diego State- PAC needs a SoCal presence. SDSU is 100 miles from the land of traitors. A must for recruiting Fresno State- The Central Valley has millions of TV's and they watch Bulldog Football. Probably more than socal fans watch the traitors. Boise State- Idaho and Boise populations are ever growing and fast. Texas Tech moves from BIG 12 to help form PAC 14. TT fans are rabid and those West Texas TV's are on watching Red Raider football. Those 4 teams provide more TV sets than just SoCal. I think. BIG 12- Invite SMU in to replace TT. Reinvite Missouri and Nebraska back home. Their departures have not worked out well for the schools, players and fans. Other than the paydays Divided, both conferences are in a vulnerable position. Their Grant of Rights for TV are limited unless they merge into a 20-28 team conference. Give FOX, ESPN, CBS, ABC, NBC and streaming networks what they want TV sets with eyeballs. The networks will not broadcast CAL-SMU or Oregon State Houston but a streaming service will. They need content. The merger is not my first choice. I think Oregon to BIG settles the issues at hand. But I like keeping the rivalries intact for both conferences. If we take the everyman for itself route and go BIG? Well i can live with being a traitor. LOL.....

Gusduck71, at this point anyone and anything is possible. Lets assume smart business people with perspective are involved in the decision making process. Not just a bunch of unqualified school presidents rushing to not be left out. Discover where you sit in the pecking order: 1. Notre Dame can call the next shot. Then the dominoes can fall 2. If the BIG Invites Oregon, mutts and Stanford then AZ, ASU, UTAH and Colorado to BIG12. WSU, OSU and CAL to MWC. Maybe...... 3. If no invite to BIG then PAC and BIG 12 merge in some fashion. 4. Explore all options. ACC, unhappy BIG members. See if Oklahoma wants to reconsider. Whatever it takes. If no one in the room has perspective, well who knows whay will come of this.

Conference Confusion: Have You Arrived at THIS?
HappyToBeADuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I love this forum. It just rocks. At this point for some or many we have moved past the Point of View, great Ideas and valued opinion posts. All of which are deeply appreciated by all on this forum. Now it has become personal. Feelings and emotions come from our core. Our very core. There are no wrong feelings. Feelings are owned by just one person and others dont know them unless the owner shares them. Thanks for sharing. ....... Charles we will all have to come to grips with the final outcome. Regardless of what that outcome will be. It certainly is upsetting but not really any force that should drive our personal bus. If Phil Knight and other smart business people are in the room then the out come stands a better chance of being acceptable. If not, the 12 arrogant presidents got us into this mess over the last decade plus. They are not qualified to make these future decisions. We have no control over this. Anybody feel that the SEC/BIG havent privately met and discussed that they will be the only 2 superconferences making all the decisions. Hec they swiped 4 valuable assets from the BIG 12 and PAC 12, blindsiding everyone. We have no control over this either. If the ACC, AAC, BIG12, MAC, MWC and PAC dont see the value in creating 2 superconferences, sooner rather than later, then the SEC/BIG will continue to shape and control the landscape. Again we have no control over this. What I can control is whether i turn on that TV and watch the product those in control present. I vote with my time and my dollars. Thats what we all control. I will love, watch and support my Ducks. Whether the PAC survives or merges with the BIG 12. Whether we go independent, join the Mountain West or build a superconference. I will watch. I will not watch usc/Rutgers, ucla/Purdue. Texas/Vanderbilt or OU/Arkansa. Millions will not watch either. We can control that too...... The journey to the Natty will be more difficult. It is difficult for everyone now except but a few.... ucla, usc, texas and ou will not sniff that either. Unless the expanded playoffs are controlled by SEC/BIG. We cant control that either. I do control that i can enjoy this one of a kind Forum and the Ducks.... GO DUCKS....... -
McDuck, i like that type of thinking. Another awesome ponder point. Kerp them coming. Some schools would be in favor if the annual payday was larger. However, leaving the BIG or SEC annual $100 Million pay outs would be financial suicide for any school. The new model may or may not reach that magnitude. IMHO what you propose may be the end result, any way. Consider this a chess match being played by the SEC and BIG. SEC Move (Texas- Oklahoma). BIG Counter move (usc-ucla) SEC Counter move maybe (Clemson FSU) BIG counter move maybe ( ND, Oregon-butt sniffers) These moves keep forcing other conferences to scramble. Potentially weakening other conferences. Is the SEC-BIG checkmate move shutting everyone else out of the CFP-NY6 games? If that happens then we will see another division level Since the SEC-BIG expansion moves were moves that blindsided BIG 12 and PAC 12 members, do any of you think that the SEC-BIG collective havent met in discussed the end game? Really........ They don't just want more money they may want it all.

Ohio State AD Lobbying for Notre Dame to Join Big 10/12/14+
HappyToBeADuck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Steven A, thanks for posting this article. The OBD Forum has been smokin hot since the piss ant traitors announced their magnanamous move to the BIG. This article and the topic of ND just adds jet fire to the discussion table. You asked if this is good news for Oregon. Hec, i am not sure Oregon knows whats the best move now. Afterall bad decision making for years has led us to this critical athletic department moment. (The Larry decision comes to mind) Had the 12 brain trust presidents even invited 4 or more BIG 12 members into the PAC then the current situation may have been different. I know many on this Forum were against expansion also. Well how is that decision working out now? As for ND........They collaborated with the ACC (Not the BIG) and joined the ACC in all sports except football and ice hockey. They must have had their reasons. Currently they have a clear path to the CFP. Win 10 games get a NY6 game. Win 11 get an invite to the CFP. Keep all the money and share with no one else. $80 to $100 million dollars is a much bigger number. A different pill to not swallow. ND is a proud school with proud traditions. They dont need the money. ND usually plays a strong schedule. But having to go thru tOSU, Penn State, usc (%/#???? Traitors) Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, MSU and ucla(i need a big welfare check traitor) in some fashion? Tougher road to CFP? Maybe. ND is a big fish in their own pond. They are a big dog.... tOSU is a big dog and they dont like to share.... If you add Oregon to the BIG then it gets tougher for all. As well as it does for Oregon. Seriously, in their current state of affairs, usc, ucla and the butt sniffers are not ready for the BIG. Is Oregon? The money would be great but 10-2, 11-1 seasons may be awhile in the making. Not to cast a shadow on any program. Its hard to do in the PAC. Add extra travel and brutal weather? Who knows.... No answers from me just more questions..... -
BuBearFan72 you are continuing to deepen the OBD Forums conversation on this topic.Thanks.... In your opinion, how upset or resentful are the BIG 12 members toward the PAC? Especially when the BIG 12 was rejected by our arrogant Presidents..... The shoe is on the other foot now. The BIG 12 is in position to finish what the BIG started. Sending the PAC an obituary notice. On a different thread it was mentioned that AU, ASU, CAL, UTAH and COLORADO were meeting with the BIG 12 in Arizona this week. Not sure if this is fact but it smacks of everyman for itself. IMHO adding those teams would not help enhance the value of the BIG 12. They would not add media rights value. The 2 conferences must stick together to have strength at the negotiating TV rights table. Any expansion without Oregon and Washington involved would regulate the BIG 12 to regional value only. That would play into the SEC-BIG hands. A few wrong moves and only 2 conferences will be playing in the new CFP expansion model. (However, if Oregon, Washington and Stanford are headed to the BIG, then this is a prudent move.) The ACC, BIG 12, PAC, AAC, MAC and Mountain West conferences best consider forming their own 2 super conference models. 2 conferences with 8 divisions and a 4-2-1 playoff model. Vision, vision and more vision. Create what TV wants and be included. Or enjoy watching the BIG and SEC filling the CFP and NY6 games. Its obvious those guys are all about the money. Not some of it but all of it. ALL OF IT.......

BUBearsFan72, thanks for your post. There is alot to digest and contemplate after reading your post. In regards to fit I dont think that matters at this point. Its purely survival time for the PAC. As GeotechDuck pointed out, its about viewership and partners who bring eyeballs to the table. Putting high quality contests on TV that draw customers for advertisers. This potential merger would create the first 4 time zone, coast to coast conference. If ND moves to the BIG then NBC and Streaming Services will need content from sun up to sun down. Both FOX and ESPN will want a piece of that action, too! The BIG 12 is squarely in the drivers seat. However, the BIG 12 needs West Coast visibility as much as the PAC needs visibility in Texss. Both conferences need this for recruiting. Both conferences need a SoCal presence so San Diego State should be in the discussion. SoCal 5☆ recruits can easily drive from LA to San Diego to watch San Diego State play Baylor, OSU, Oregon, Utah or Washington The BIG 12 has been out performing the PAC on the gridiron and BB courts for awhile now. Adding Washington to the BIG 12 will help make up for losing Texas. Both schools feel they are the straw that stirs the drink of success. They know they are better than everyone else. Yet neither school has accomplished much on the gridiron or BB courts in awile. You will be able to disdain Washington as much as Texas. Some people or schools will always think they are better than everyone else. Other than geography, did Baylor or TCU really fit with Texas. Probably no more than WSU fit with USC, UCLA or Cal. What really matters is having partners who have big dollar boosters. The kind of boosters that will create million dollar NIL deals for 5☆ and high 4☆ recruits. Thats the FIT that probably means the most to ALL the schools.

Big Ten Finishes With Notre Dame and...Oregon?
HappyToBeADuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well Charles just as i was drifting off to sleep you tossed in these 2 grenades. My ancient brain is spinning. Both scenarios work for Oregon. Merge with the BIG 12 ASAP if we dont get a invite from the BIG immortals by next weekend. It shows the PAC and BIG 12 are proactive and not waiting around begging. This merger works well. The PAC has a footprint in Texas and the BIG 12 a footprint in Cali! Plus you now create a 4 time zone conference. (Cincinnati) Based upon exit fees I dont think the big players in the ACC can make a move. Unless their mega boosters cough up the money. Both FOX and ESPN know that Texas fans are not interested in upper midwest football. They will watch Oregon/Baylor, TT/WA, Utah/Houston etc. Especially if their teams win those games and Texas and OU become middle of the road SEC teams. Even if the new merger has a $50 or $100 million exit fee. Phil and Penny will pay that if they feel the future for Oregon is with the BIG. The money will be recouped quickly. Consider that the BIG needs to have a 4 team POD or Division out West. Oregon vs USC or UCLA, Washington vs USC or UCLA, USC vs UCLA and Oregon vs Washington are made for prime time. FOX can essentially block ESPN from the West Coast and these games bring potential huge dollars to the BIG. Unfortuneately their will be big casualties if Oregon and Washington leave the PAC for the BIG. It leaves a bad taste for many. Its a brand new world. When i was a youngster in the 50's television was black and white. Telephones were mounted on the wall. The first heart transplant was almost 2 decades away. No laptops. Look at how new ideas, new companies willing to take risks changed the world. In that process old companies unwilling to change fell by the wayside. The old ways, rivalries and traditions in college sports are heading that way too. GO DUCKS........ -
Just an added thought...... The remaining PAC members should consider getting out front with the remaining Texas schools before the BIG decides they want a foot print in Texas.. If that happens then the PAC or even the skeleton of the PAC is finished. Consider Baylor, TCU, TT, Houston and BYU, ISU, OK State and San Diego State. Now you beat the BIG or ACC from getting into Texas. As much as some on this Forum found no value in adding those school before, well it may be prudent to reconsider. I would also make a run at Oklahoma. I would propose unequal revenue sharing with Oklahoma and Oregon being the PACs flahship brands. The schools that bring less revenues should reward the top dogs. If not this conference will be just slightly above the Group of 5. Difficult to get a 5☆ recruit from Texas if FOX and ESPN shut you out. If they cant grow up watching you then you wont be their dream school. TV and NIL just changed the landscape of college football forever. The Rose Bowl will no longer be the prize for the PAC. How many times do you need to be hit with a nuke before you wake up and realize what's happening? The only option is to lead. If you follow consider that ESPN, FOX, SEC and BIG have already moved you out of their way.
-
Annie I like your thought here. However, at this point the decisions are being driven by the football product that brings the biggest TV dollars. USC and UCLA Presidents voted against previous expansion because iy wasnt in THEIR best interest. They didnt want to share revenues. Now they dont mind sharing with the BIG and those $100 million dollar annual payouts. If the 10 remaing PAC Presidents make a decision based on compatability then we have lost already. IMHO this is about football and TV rights. Get the best partners who can drive up dollars.

Boy there have been so many great comments the last few days on all the threads within this forum. Well done...... I have spent the last 25 years of my 50 year business career helping customers unravel the chaos and confusion that engulfs their business model. Working together with our customers employees to locate and identify the roadblocks that hinder operating a successful process. Working to get everyone on the same page with the same goals... Ask yourself, Do the remaining 10 PAC members share the same goal? Are they on the same page that would save the conference? IMHO, i am not convinced they are at this point. They may get there but as of now they aren't. Can they trust each other? Who knows........ If Oregon feels uncertain about their loyalty from other conference members then they have options. Its selfish but the Ducks need to look for options that protect their interests. OREGON FIRST........ 1. Sit down immediately with Phil and Penny and ask what they would like to see for Oregon standing alone as a football only independent. Also sit down with all big time boosters to see how the NIL money increases for the millions a 5☆ recruit will need to sign at Oregon. Its obvious if you want 10-5☆ players a year to sign then you need the millions necessary each year. Whether we go independent, salvage the PAC or merge, we will need 15 to 20 million annually for the 5 stars. If not we may be relegated to the best of a diminished conference. See× 2. Get on the phone with NBC or streaming services and see if a $75-$100 million TV rights package is available by going independent. They could go the Notre Dame route. Play 8 home games and dominate the 5 pm pacific/8 pm eastern time slot. For example a Oregon/Florida State game would be more appealing than USC/Purdue or UCLA/Rutgers. 3. Oregon would have a better option to create an exciting schedule for TV. The BIG cannot schedule USC/Ohio State type game every week. Also all the other sports can stay in a revised PAC or whatever survives. Oregon can have 8 home games and 4 road games a year. Not that much travel. They will have the flexibility to schedule some great games, both home and away. Afterall, Oregon is a National Brand, so act like it. 4.If this fails then be out front to create the first coast to coast conference with the top ACC, BIG 12 and PAC forming a 16 or 20 team conference. Create something that TV cant get enough of. 5. Or sit on the sidelines, piddle yourself and accept the left overs that come your way. Go make waves, create and chart your own course. A course where you create your own destiny. Where sniveling back stabbing, whining conference members have no say One last thing that will help the Ducks amid all this chaos: On Sept. 3rd 2022, beat Georgia! Then dont stub your toe along the way and get to the CFP. For good measure just win the Natty. The National Champion Oregon Ducks would not be ignored in the chaos. Its a roadblock that the Ducks can eliminate. Then repeat in 2023. Go Ducks.....

The PAC had its chance to deal from a position of strength. As many on this awesome forum pointed out, they failed to act. The 12 Presidents told GK to announce to the college sports world that the PAC was in a great position with its current membership. Well thst great position lasted less than 6 months! The 12 Presidents spurned the remaining BIG 12 members and thus placed the PAC in a vulnerable position. Hows that decision working out for the PAC members now? My Dad taught me long ago in the 1950's that opportunity and preparedness must meet at the same intersection at the same time. When Texas and OU made their decision to jump ship many doors opened with opportunities. The PAC must have been at the wrong intersection. Well the remaining members are at a crossroad now. Be interesting to see how the rats scramble off of this sinking ship. After all they sunk their own ship. Forum members i get the feeling the Ducks will be in a better place when the dust settles. Imagine a basketball weekend where the Ducks and huskies are traveling partners. Did that leave a bad taste in your mouth or what? GO DUCKS.......
-
Joshua that is a great question and thanks for the article....... Notalot laid out some solid reasons for instant improvement. Especially that MC will not be on the sidelines restricting the offense. Or making in game decisions. What a relief....... Only time will tell. Can Coach Lanning and his staff coach these players up and then execute the offensive game plan needed? Game in and game out........ Personally i will give the offense a pass against Georgia. Even if the 2022 Dawgs defense gives up an extra touchdown over the 2021 squad that would mean only 17.2 a game. Thats some tough sledding for any offense. 24 to 28 points against the Dawgs D in a hostile environment would be a solid number. However, after that the Ducks, with a solid level of offensive execution should put 40 plus on the board. Against every team. All the pieces are in place for the 2022 Ducks to light up the scoreboard. Nothing less than 70 against the lesser dawgs up north would or will be acceptable. GO DUCKS.......

Pac-12 Expansion: Big-12 Teams for the Taking?
HappyToBeADuck replied to sad BIG12 fan's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
sad big12 fan........ Welcome to the forum and please post often. Many on this forum have experienced a personal mini-nuclear meltdown over the pac 12 not expanding into Texas. There are many pros and cons about your expansion thoughts. I am strictly a pros kind of person, so here goes. I really like your 4 choices but i would add Baylor to the mix. Those 5 schools could form their own pod/division. They would travel no more than they do now amongst themselves. Their 3 OOC games could be played in the midwest and a toe dip eastward. That leaves 5 more PAC 17 games to schedule. Put AZ, ASU, Colorado and Utah in another POD and play at least three games against those 3. Again minimal travel. Then play one game annually against the Cal, Stanford, UCLA and USC POD and one game annually against the NW POD. Alternate home and away games. Basically the schedule can be fixed or adjusted so you would have just one long trip east or west each year. Or do like the NFL and each year you play all the teams from a particular division or POD. If we can travel to Columbus or Atlanta then travel from Eugene to Lubbock or Houston or vice versus is doable. What many people dont understand is if TT is playing Oregon, USC or Utah in a prime time slot then TV sets all across Texas will watch. Same with Houston or Baylor. More eyeballs equal more advertising dollars and more dollars for the schools athletic departments on the TV contract There are so many options and opportunities for games along with endless recruiting opportunities. How many Texas 4 and 5 stars would attend an Oregon-Houston or USC-Baylor game. Giving youngsters the in person, side line opportunity that is affordable. GEEZ........ Well i am going to come back to earth now. There is no room for dreamers who lack academic prowess in the PAC. Thanks sad big 12 fan for Allowing me a brief moment of hope for a better future filled with new conference members, players and fans. Gotta go. Time to take out the garbage........ Go Ducks......... -
Could Jay Butterfield Thrive in Oregon’s New Offense?
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
LaMarr thanks for taking the time to organize and present your article. I really appreciate it Butters definitely showed well in the spring game. He systematically moved thru his progressions. TT struggled at times with that within the snaps he took The forum members on this site and Duck fans have been starved for any pass play over 20 yards. So the QBS in the spring gave us a treat. How it plays out..... only time will tell. Looking foward to your future articles. Go Ducks..... -
Four Keys to Oregon Football Beating Georgia
HappyToBeADuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I sure love this site. Hats off to all of the great, subjective comments to Alex article. So much to ponder. As a near 40 year Duck fan it has been so much fun since "The Pick". The program used to open with Boise State or Michigan State in non con slates. Then stepped up to Auburn and LSU. Along the way the confidence grew to step up to challenge the true elites like tOSU and now Georgia. Is this great or what? I agree with all thats been said and would add that the Duck offense must keep that great Dawg defense off balance. Make no mistake that Dawg defense is going to be a monster. It will be no easy task... The Ducks offense has great talent in the skill positions. The O line is experienced and can produce points. Mix it up and play error free ball. Nothing to lose so have fun. If the Ducks were a member of the SEC this years defense would be the 3rd or 4th best in the league. So play like it and make the Dawgs offense earn every yard and every point. Big boy football on the big stage. There was no bigger stage last year than the national championship game. Coach Lanning had his D players up for that challemge. I am confident he will have his Duck team ready for this challenge too. GO Ducks....... -
I agree with both Notalot and David Marsh, the talent is on this roster. The secondary took its lumps in the Spring game but turned in the type of plays that swing momentum. Key defensive injuries, soft cushions and overall schemes allowed teams to stay in games that should have been blow outs. Or take a loss to the referee assisted Stanford come back victory. (once again I threw up in my mouth) Key defensive injuries did allow many talented youngsters to gain valuable playing time. Hopefully they can gel together and mesh in the Coach Lanning system. It will be exciting to watch them grow as a unit. There will be painful moments, for sure....... May be this year with the throttle wide open and the shackles removed the offense can make those 3rd down conversions. The kind that close out games with a W. This years schedule features some potent offenses that will challenge our Ducks. Georgia (maybe twice), EWU, BYU, WSU, UCLA, Utah (maybe twice) possibly USC, and whoever we play before that rematch with Georgia for The Natty. (14-1 and a Natty is possible! Not likely but possible) The Duck D could play great and still give up 40 points to any of these teams. (Maybe not EWU). The Duck O will probably need to average 40 plus to win some of these games. Throwing reckless interceptions or pick sixes wont help the Ducks. And remember, Georgia plays defense at an A+ level. Utah plays D at an A level. The O needs to score big and force their opponents to play catch up. With up front pressure this secondary will get some easy interceptions. Only the D will keep us in the game against the real DAWGS and the Utes. Go Ducks. The day is drawing closer. Buy into Coach Lanning's system and execute your assignments. That will be the difference between 14-1 and 9-4.

Oregon-Georgia: I’m Betting on a Close Game
HappyToBeADuck replied to Darren Perkins's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In the Georgia spring game the first team offense ( led by Stetson at QB) went up against the 2nd team defense. Stetson threw pinpoint passes to wide receivers and urilized their impressive tight ends. The offense moved the ball but the 2nd team defense made them work for it. Our Ducks can too! If i recall Stetson thru 2 picks but drove the team downfield for the winning score. He was impressive, confident and has the Natty hardware to justify it. The other QBs had to move the second team offense against the first team D. It was a struggle but they scored points. That D caused alot of havoc that generated sacks and turnovers. This will be the best D the Ducks face all season. My take is that the Ducks can cover as long as the QB's minimize mistakes and hit their open receivers. Confident the O-line will provide the protection needed. The O cannot give the real DAWGS short fields and easy points. The line is too high. Should give the Ducks serious motivation. The Duck D, IMHO, is equal too or better than all SEC teams except Georgia and Bama....... Hold the Georgia offense to 27 points and we have a ball game. I get the feeling that bettings lines are influenced by the beat downs Utah gave us. As well as the first half of the Alamo bowl. Confident that Coach Lanning and his staff have moved the team past those nightmare games. Last years Baby Ducks were not intimidated in the shoe. This year they are seasoned and uber talented. They will not be intimidated in Atlanta....... This is a winnable game but requires flawless execution in all three phases of the game. Hard to accomplish in week one of the season. But nothing less than a win will be the goal for this squad. Go Ducks......... -
Transfer Portal: How Oregon's 2022 Opponents Have Fared
HappyToBeADuck replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Baylor and Michigan State had excellent 2021 seasons by utilizing the transfer portal. Meshing the experienced transfers to fill in the gaps. Quality coaching staffs dedicated to individual player development to shape and mold a quality team. These teams played and performed at a high level Can Oregon and/or their opponents coach up and develope their players is the question? Writers and talking heads can make assessments and judgements. However it all plays out on the field. Many variables go into a season. Yet the only thing that counts and tells the story is scoreboard. Go Ducks........ -
Great on field results start with great players being recruiting by a great coaching staff. So far Coach Lanning and his top notch staff are bringing in top notch recruits. And Coach Adams is truly on fire. Great on field results (wins) are achieved by great players being coached and developed by those great recruiters. I feel that Coach Lanning and his staff can and will be equal to the task. Go Ducks........
-
This should come as no suprise to anyone. Wish a handful of former SEC players (recruits) would validate this article. Especially a certain Auburn QB who helped the Tigers win a Natty. I have done my fair share of complaining about the P-12 teams lack of on field results over the years. If in fact the P-12 did not offer recruits money (no matter the reason) then i applaud them..... The toothless NCAA will never investigate any wrong doing by the SEC. But i for one would like to see some humble pie served on the SEC members. At least with NIL money the P-12 may be able to compete for recruits on a more level field.
-
Charles thank you for taking the time to compile and organize this article. Reading, then rereading the articles you previously wrote about Coach Lanning energized me again during this long winter off season. Once again your passion for the OBD is on display and in full force. You are amazing and just like this forum you created, "one of a kind". It is too early in Coach Lannings Head Coaching journey to draw any concrete conclusions. For me, many small steps or actions over a long period of time add to the yard stick of measuring a leaders performance. So far the small steps and actions look promising. As always the results on the field will be used by many to weigh and measure their judgements about Coach Lanning. Some will jump off the Lanning band wagon if the Ducks start 2-2 or 1-3 this fall. Others will be singing his praises at 3-1 or 4-0. In my 56 years as a member of the work force I have found that followers rarely understand what leaders go thru to build something special. I suppose many of those that followed Michigan State football were glad that Coach Saban left to coach teams in the SEC. After all his coaching record was not that impressive. Bet they wish he stayed. It was too early to measure Sabans performamce. Leaders learn and grow thru out the journey. It will be the same for Coach Lanning. So far so good. Looking forward to his journey. What a way to start, playing the defending national champs. Wishing and hoping for the best. How will you feel if the Ducks get blown out by Georgia? Win or lose then we will get our first glimpse of head coach Dan Lanning. It cant arrive soon enough.........
