MC Detractors: Step Right up, Don't be shy ...
Personally, I would do whatever it takes to keep Mario and his staff, intact. Increase all their bonus incentives to direct this team to the finish line. It was understandable to be emotionally spent after the Stanford loss. Many commenters wanted the offense to be opened up. Brown to play better and coaches to coach better. Well we got what we wished for the last 2 weeks The last 2 games Brown is 49-67 for 540 yards, 1 TD pass and 2 ints. Not to bad. For those who wanted things to open up on offense this is a good start. As for the pics, the first one was all on AB. Never throw over the middle, never. Almost all QB's never learn that lesson. Lots of negative comments on the 2nd pic in the end zone. It was the right call, just bad throw. The play was there. The Bruins game plan was to load the box, all game long. Keep in mind without AB 's 85 yards rushing the other backs generated 45, yes 45 total rushing yards. We won this game because of a solid offensive game plan from the coaches, o line play and AB executing better. The offense took what the Bruins D gave them.. That's work ethic and coaching. Turnovers can certainly change momentum. Thankfully the defense and their game plan delivered. Again..... Coaching and encouragement have certainly helped this team go 6-1. The offense has multiple come from behind wins because of AB. The defense has held on all but once. And this team, all its coaches and players have something none of the greatest Duck players and coaches have: a win over toss buckeyes. Savor that for a few. Go Ducks....

Precarious Ducks: “To Live and Dye in LA”
Charles What a ride that was! The defensive front played in the Bruins backfield most of the day. The D has the playmaker to make it happen. KT is a game changer. However, glad you recognized Bassa's efforts. I believe that Sewell is on equal footing with KT. He is a beast from sideline to sideline. The offense? I have used up all my brain cells on that side of the ball. Looking forward to a 60 minute effort on that side of the ball. Too many weapons to not put 50 plus on Colorado Go ducks

UCLA GameDay Thread: Watch for Chip Kelly’s Best Play
Charles awesome tutorial. Great way to start this football filled Saturday. Just a few thoughts: How disciplined will our young defense play today? 11 players in sync or 11 individuals trying to do too much? This roller coaster ride could be exhilarating or emotional devastation for the Duck faithful today. Can we set and hold the edges, string the plays to the sideline and allow our secondary to tackle for a loss? We have the key players to make this happen. From the tutorial it is easy to see your frustration at Cristobal for abandoning such a successful offensive scheme. A few basic plays with multiple options for success. One way to explain this is on our nuclear submarines when they launch a missile it has upto 13 warheads on board. At a certain altitude point those warheads disperse. Good luck shooting down all the options. We used to wear defenses out, at warp speed, trying to defend all the options. Short passes became touchdowns. Perfect for QB's who have trouble throwing over the top. Hammer! If CK upticks the tempo, look out! Hold the Bruins under 21 and we can win this game. Doubtful..... Let's go Ducks and may we all sit down to dinner with a Duck victory.

New? Better Read This! Banning, Quitting, Deletions and DRAMA at the OBD Forum
Charles Thank you for your devotion to keep this forum civil. Both sites are my safe haven. All the writers, contributors and commenting members IMHO provide thought provoking views. Not anger provoking views. No football conversation is allowed in our house. My wonderful, amazing wife is the daughter of a 30 year plus high school football coach. She had to eat, sleep, drink and withstand an onslaught of football during the fifties, sixties and seventies. To her, it seemed that every time she commented or asked a question her thoughts were rammed down her throat by her father. Her star football QB brother was worse. No safe haven for her. I RESPECT her life long feelings and am so glad for this forum. And thankful you and your team give those less informed or football savvy a safe home to express. Wish someone had done the same for my wife......

It’s Okay to Be Disappointed With Mario Cristobal
Thank you for another deep thought provoking article Joshua! Depending on one's expectations, the first 6 games have generated one hec of an emotional roller coaster ride. Personally, my feelings toward the coach and staff are mixed. MC and his staff have done an amazing job with the defense. Mixing and piecing youngsters together to field a unit together takes quality coaching. Playing players at positions they have never played, especially at this level, takes coaching. Players need to practice and play together to jell and build trust. This has not happened this year. Yet the D is giving up less than 20 ppg. That being said. Garbers missed two wide open receivers on the last drive. Why? Because film study showed that Garbers does not throw well on the run.(read a pre game article about this). DC called plays to constantly flush Garbers out. Well done coach(s). The offense is another mixed bag of coaching. At times the offense moves the ball with ease. This unit has been efficient in the red zone. However, this unit has left multiple scores on the table from penalties or fumbles that negated great plays. Plays that would have been 1st downs into the red zone. These games should not be one score outcomes. That's on the players the first few games. After that its coaching. Come on coaches. Are changes necessary? UCLA will be the pivot point of the season for this team. There is enough tape on the Bruins for MC and staff to know what's coming. There will be no surprises for our defense. Stop the run and force DTR to beat you with his arm. The Bruin defense cannot stop this offense. Only our players can stop this offense. Coaches it's time. If the players cannot execute and generate points....make changes. Mario, toughness isn't just on the players. Personally, I like you and your staff. Sometimes I just don't like your decision making. Go Ducks. Beat the Bruins and rule the southland.

The Rose Bowl Is Ground Zero This Saturday
It's a big time conference game on the big stage. Oregons big time recruits who can quiet the boos and silence their critics. Oregon should move the ball at will against the Bruins. Goodness a zero dimensional scout team from the northern realm of outer darkness had their chances last Saturday. The Oregon offense has the talent and scheme to score in the upper thirties. Stop the self-inflicted wounds in the red zone. Play like this is the Natty because every game here on out, IS. This defense is far superior than any team the Bruins have faced. Play up to your potential with passion and intensity. Hold them to 24 or less and take the pressure off the offense.. Coaches, time to earn those big game checks and PERS contribution. Starting Saturday, let's walk the walk and stop the talk.

About Booing: Cristobal Lives in the River City….De-Nile
So many outstanding and passionate thoughts on this "one of a kind site". I agree that a paying customer has every right to voice their displeasure. Booing is a part of the entertainment business! Doesn't make the situation any less painful to watch. I have 3 thoughts that keep swimming thru my brain. First: Wonder what the potential recruits felt, as they heard the boos? Many a Duck recruit has been sold by the loud, supportive crowd at Autzen. The most recent commit mentioned that he was influenced by the fan support at the Stony Brook game. He's not the first to mention the crowd and atmosphere influenced their decision to join the duck family. Second. The comments about how fast a power house program can disappear right before your eyes. (USC, FSU, Nebraska, the peewee team up north, for example. Oregon is not immune from downturns. 1998-2001. 38-10 2002-2004 20-17 2005-2014. 106-26 2015-2017 20-18 2018-YTD 30-10 My hat is off to the AD'S and coaches who made the necessary changes and adjustments of the last 25 years. We are not in the scrap heap of has been programs because of that. And we are not headed their now. (Blinders in full effect) Third: When the 2 deeps are announced for the UCLA game. Look at the true freshman, covid freshman, redshirt freshman and sophomores on that list. Add in the injuries and our results are pretty solid. We may fall flat and end up 6-6. We may end up 11-2 and headed to Rose Bowl. These coaches are teaching 18 year olds to compete with 5th and 6th year players. I love this painful journey as we watch boys grow to be men. Go Ducks and thank you to all for what you bring to this safe site.

Quick Comparison, Oregon and UCLA
Thank you 30Duck for taking the time to present these stats. The rushing leaders are at the top of their divisions, with winning records. For the most part, the passing leaders are finding wins difficult. Go Ducks! Help the believers believe again. Very certain you have the right stuff, coaches too!

DT's and RB's
As a displaced Coug, I have been a rabid Duck fan since moving to Oregon in 1984. Just as things got moving forward on the Duck gridiron. For almost 3 decades Duck football had an identity. IMHO! Recruits knew what they were signing up for. Since CK left I have been wondering what our identity is. Maybe some potential Aircraft Carriers, Bell Cows and their parents are wondering that, too?
