Chip Back to What He Likes Best
I think a good analogy is that he created a very successful startup company but wasn't good at running the company once it got big. Heck, I remember studying that stuff at the U of O biz school in the 90s. Hey, I did learn something afterall!!!

Chip Back to What He Likes Best
Oh I'm not predicting here whether he will be successful or not. And, sure, he'll be recruiting, but he can focus more on his side of the ball and the ingredients that he wants while not being weighed down with head coaching obligations. He can be the chef without having to run the restaurant. I'm sure he'll be more happy and motivated to focus on QB's and WR's than linebackers.

Alabama Slides to Their 5th or 6th HC Choice?
They will have to go roll the dice and the "next big thing." Like Oregon did with Lanning. Of course, Wilcox is out there for the Tide ; )

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
I don't care how other fans cheer, especially those down south. And, I don't care about how a Husky win might make the Ducks look better for this season. Eadt Coast bias is real. Perception is reality. If west coast teams win more often then that would help the case for all west coast teams. The reality is that west coast programs have not won enough, hence they (i.e. Oregon) does not get the benefit of the doubt. Case in point: If the Ducks had won this year's Pac-12 Championship game, they absolutely would NOT have been invited to the CFP. Lack of Pac-12 success would have been a big reason why.

Thanks. I had a "small" hunch the title might grab a few people's attention. Oops. ; )

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
Great points, Jon. And, I agree, UM will be in for a surprise for how lethal the Husky offense is when seeing it person. "Go Pac-12!" That's what I'll chant when the Huskies roll it up on UM.

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
The reality is, any successful programs fans are going to be labeled as "arrogant" by the WSU and OSU's of the world. Let's be honest, Oregon has its share.... just not as many as the Huskies.

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
Thanks for your support. I just can't bring myself to root for the likes of Michigan and don't even get me started if it was Alabama instead. I do feel the regional, NW, pride.

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
Well, if the Ducks can "fulfill their destiny," and win one and beat the Huskies on a regular basis then all (for the most part, is silenced). UW fans weren't really mentioning 1991 during the 13 game losing streak earlier this decade. We are severely out recruiting UW, so i feel good about regularly beating them. And, Pennix is their Mariota, pretty hard to replace, so you have expect some drop off at QB.

Love it! ❤️

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
Yes, the way to earn respect and shutup UW is to win it all. We control that, now gotta do it.

I Am Rooting for the Huskies
They will be insufferable, but the Ducks can cut that short by winning a title. Oregon has the power, need to Just Do It. UW success should be a motivating factor.

Oregon’s Move to Big Ten Helps to Keep Lanning
I totally agree, BUT, these guys tend to have larger than average egos and want to prove that they can be the exception. So, ya never know. Plus, there is the burnout factor in college, way more work due to recruiting and kissing up to donors, etc. etc...

Oregon’s Move to Big Ten Helps to Keep Lanning
Recruiting is absolutely the number one priority. You can sit in rich recruiting country and still under recruit. Washington is currently in the 40s in recruiting. Like UCLA, they should never fall out of the Top 20. Georgia wouldn't want him. Think of what UW would be if they did recruit better. That would be scary.

Oregon’s Move to Big Ten Helps to Keep Lanning
Nothing would prevent him from going to Georgia or Alabama if he wants to go. The point is that if you are already coaching in one of the Power-2 conferences, that can't be used to persuade you if another Power-2 program tries to poach you away.

Oregon’s Move to Big Ten Helps to Keep Lanning
I think he does stay. But, wouldn't be shocked if he went to Georgia. It's possible he said things never thinking the job would come open, given Kirby's relative young age.

Oregon’s Move to Big Ten Helps to Keep Lanning
It's a definite possibility. I think Georgia and Alabama are the only two schools to worry about. But, not everyone wants to follow a legend, and he seems to really like Eugene and his family. We just don't know what he prioritizes.

Yeah, he's got it pretty good where he's at. But, some people like a new challenge.

Bold Pac-12 Bowl Predictions
Thanks John. I don't think any Pac-12 championship game loser has won its bowl game ever! I know it would destroy the Rose Bowl Stadium, but I believe UCLA would be better off playing at SoFi Stadium. Closer to campus and would create a westside LA synergy around the program.

Bold Pac-12 Bowl Predictions
Well, I mean, maybe i was a little cavalier in describing my feelings about the game, I'm going to watch it and all, but the anticlimactic nature of it just stings me. I would be much happier if it were SMU. Yeah, not sold on Sark, prove me wrong!

To Hell With Hollywood, Northwest Schools B1G’s Real Prize
Which has a good chance. I'm still not totally sold on Texas and once again Michigan will lose the semifinal. Of course, the Huskies could totally lay and egg on the big stage, now that would be the most Pac-12 thing for the conference to end on.

To Hell With Hollywood, Northwest Schools B1G’s Real Prize
Oh for sure, Deboar is the real deal, but I believe there will be seasons where the lack of recruiting will be evident and they will not be a top-tier conference team, while other years they will be top-shelf. I also like him, he seems so laid back and sincere without all the feigned energy and coach speak. While I would have preferred the full/real P12 to stay together, but as things unfolded the Ducks really did need to join the Big10 in order to remain a top-tier program on a national level. Otherwise, recruiting would have taken a hit, for sure.

Ducks Face the Liberty Flames on Jan. 1
My fear comes true. If it was Tulane or Smu or a good MW champ it would suck, but not this bad! Any Duck with NFL potential won't play. Get Thompson and backups reps and start the spring football early this year.
