  1. oh yeah, he'll still cover the Beavs, I don't think he'll forsake any "local" teams. He could increase his output to cover everything, of course if that ovewhelms him...... he could hire us as contributors! Bingo!
  2. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. They'll lose some folks for sure, but no doubt will add some from traditional Big 10 country. Actually, could really be a jackpot for Canzano if he plays to those fans.
  3. Yup, we should be able to simply out talent (i.e. speed) Hawaii and let our fast guys run loose.
  4. Yeah, I mentioned on a reply to Charles that the run the Ducks were stuffed on late in game to the short side of the field on 3rd and short really, really bothered me. And of course I'm not saying eliminate horizontal/lateral play, it is crucial, but seemed to over use it. Also, part it could be my subconscious wanting the Ducks to have more big plays after watching the Fuskies with Penix throwing lasers all over the field. Man, that guy can pass. Gotta outdo those guys!
  5. Just thinking out loud, but in a perfect world, once top power schools break away from other sports, the Portland States' of the world can serve as a farm system where the late bloomers who weren't recruited could develop, then transfer to the top league. And the top league kicks down some cash to the developmental league. Like I said, just brainstorming.
  6. Very true, I knew I'd get some pushback, but that 3rd and short late in the game where the ducks pitched to the short side of the field and got stuffed has stuck with me all week. Argh! Looking for some fine tuning this week against the Rainbows.... I was at that '94 game 🤮. 1-2 start, fire Brooks! 😃
  7. I don't see much changing, they'll just drop the conference affiliation and cover the Big Ten more, but they'll still remain left coast centric.
  8. Cold, Charles, cold. 😆 Aren't you a Corvallis native and ex-beav? Next thing you know you'll be driving I-5 on your way to Portland, and flipping the bird westerly out the driver's window as you pass through the Albany-Corvallis "metro" area. Be sure to record that on your phone when you do!
  9. For sure, but money can't repair the ego damage. I wish him no ill will, hopefully he's in a good place in life.
  10. Time for power conferences to outlaw these games. Nothing but a glorified scrimmage, not entertaining, and really tells us nothing.
  11. Willie is currently the Running Backs coach for The Ravens. Nice to see he has finally found his true calling as a position coach. 🤣
  12. Hey, it's not me, it's those dang Heisman voters! I just report on this stuff. ; )
  13. Thanks, nice to be back in the saddle!
  14. Uncle Phil, that would have been nice, as well as own the Blazers. If the Beavs go to the Mountain West, I wonder if he'll donate money to OSU to make them a Group of 5 power and a potential all-Oregon national championship game! Ya never know. Obviously he's a Duck, but also a state of Oregon guy through and through. He did donate money to the OSU baseball team that one time. Hmmmm.....
  15. oh, there's one i didn't think of. thanks!
  16. Thanks, and thanks for reading!
  17. Definitely would wanna keep that one regional, New Yorkers might be a little thrown off. Oops.
  18. That's pretty good. Got me thinking about The Police song Message in a Bottle. "Message in a BOttle to Heisman voters: Bo for Heisman!" It's too long and too stupid, but hey, we're just having fun here
  19. My only response to that, is this: ; )
  20. Yes, we need at least measurable improvement on defense. Of course, there was that whole USC thing (shi**y defense) last year, but the glamour of LA and the media hype machine that follows helped with that. Unfortunately, the Ducks don't have that advantage.
  21. Yup, I think we want USC in P12 championship game and send them to the B10 in style!. Traitors.
  22. Yes, must protect the quarterback. I don't get why that is such a difficult concept at times. Even if it does cost us getting the occasional first down, it is better to play it safe with the health of the qb. Should only purposely put the qb at risk in DIRE situations, like with the game on the line... Or, needing to cover a spread I may have put a few bucks on. 😀.
  23. Wait a second, I might be wrong, but weren't you against them playing Georgia last year? And then on top of that critical of them also playing BYU in the same season? . I really do not see what the big deal is. I have no problem with the out of conference scheduling. Let's be realistic, you can't get the likes of Oklahoma and Ohio State every year. Those teams do have to agree to play the Ducks and it's not always easy to find openings. These things get scheduled years in advance, so before all the summer of 2021 chaos. Scheduling middling to solid Big 12 programs in not taking the easy road out. Not to mention in three of these years they also play Boise State on top of the schools mentioned above. If Mullens schedules the "tough" games then he gets grilled for making the path to the playoff harder, if he doesn't then he gets called a wimp. He's "Damned if you do, damned if you don't." Hopefully, Michigan State in 2029 and 2030 is good enough for those being critical of Mullens. And, then, alas the Buckeyes in 2032 and 2033.
  24. Hmmmm... I've been wrong about a lot of things regarding conference alignment. But, I say wait. It is almost a lock that the Big 10 will invite these two schools leading up to 2030. Perhaps over the next few years, UCLA realizes they made a mistake and come back. But, the only chance of that is if OR and UW are still in the Pac. But, then again, what the hell, got to the Big 10. : )
  25. Well, last week, Altman said he wants guys who are dedicated and hard-working. Clearly, this past year's team did not have enough of those guys, if any. And, based on Altman's comments about Ware in mid-season, about his lack of effort and focus, he might have been the poster child for this. It's possible Altman had a talk with Ware in which they both agreed he should move on. This sucks on the surface, but it could be the best thing.
