  1. Totally agree. Reminds me of my article 5 years ago after Herbert got hurt. And, in 2017, my 2019 prognostication here wasn't too far off. haha. And, I love that Mel Brooks scene I posted in this. Ducks' Season Becomes One Big "What Might Have Been" FISHDUCK.COM The Oregon Ducks played solid defense but, without star quarterback Justin Herbert, didn't have the offensive power to match the Washington State Cougars.
  2. Hahaha, stone cold sober actually. Ducks have the best talent in the Pac-12. No USC, Utah at home, some feared BYU but I didn't. I figured a loss to Georgia and 1 Pac-12 foe would be about right. Lanning struck me from the get-go as being much better than Mario, and Mario did well.
  3. Agree on the QB situation. If Thompson or Butterfield had "it," they would have shown it by now. Almost every good Oregon QB over the years showed potential right off the bat, but Thompson has not. Transfer portal for sure and we have the 5-star recruit coming in. I mean, if you're a good qb looking for a home wouldn't you be interested in playing at Oregon? I would think so. And, the pay probably isn't too shabby.
  4. For sure, definitely a team with character win.
  5. I loved the game, a W is a W, and it was exciting. But, not the prettiest of games, for sure.
  6. It just didn't make sense to to bring in Thompson cold (literally and figuratively) at that point. Was odd.
  7. Definitely the bounce back the Ducks needed after the Husky game.
  8. Defense definitely stepped up and deserve applause. And, thankfully, Utah was not making the key plays on offense that UW was a week before.
  9. I made a bet at the local Indian Casino in August that the Ducks would win over 9 regular season games. I really need them to beat the Beavs, otherwise Christmas is cancelled at my house.
  10. That makes sense, if he is forecasted to get drafted early then of course he's gone, but if he's lower, then he may feel another year would increase his draft stock.
  11. I see a one loss Ohio St-Michigan getting in over the Ducks, unless the loser of their game gets blown out.
  12. Yup, can't wait until he has his pieces on the defense.
  13. Yeah, that was a tough one, i don't have the replay of it handy, but my last impression was that the UW player did get it.
  14. Well, then, I might have to freeze my body and get thawed out when the Ducks do catch the Huskies. Yes, DeBoer is a good coach, really turned those guys around. I guess a better UW make the Pac-12 better and helps with strength of schedule when it comes to the playoff.
  15. To get a little philisophical, I believe it is easier in life to be too agressive and then pull the reigns back on that and be more level-headed, THAN it is to be a wimp and force yourself to be more aggressive. So, Lanning has that going for him.
  16. Yeah, they knew with a cold Thompson in that the Ducks weren't going to pass, which maybe the Ducks should have, but that's just second guessing. As I noted, the vibe was just not right, and hence agree with you 100% that the play was dead before the slip.
  17. Yes, I don't put it on Thompson, he was in a tough spot. But, I just couldn't help the bad, bad feeling I had before the failure on 4th down. The stars were definitely not aligned in my world.
  18. The Ducks left a solid 11 points on the table in the first half, those points probably woulda came in hand at the end of the game. There was the fumble at the 1-yard line, and earlier they had a bad penalty that made them kick a field goal instead of getting a TD. This happens, but the fumble at the 1 really got me because they were being cute in their formation and lost track of the play clock.
  19. Can't really disagree. Turnovers, untimely penalties, questionable coaching decisions, pourus D. It had all the ingredients of an upset.
  20. If I recall correctly, Nix had been knocked out when it came to the 4th down at the 8, so I get, and that was like a 4th and 3 or 4 if i recall correctly. Thompson hasn't exactly instilled confidence when he has played.
  21. Yeah, if Bo was back in I would have felt a lot better about it. I understand why he went for it, but man was that risky.
  22. Thanks! Yes, it's nice to write on Monday with a day after the game to think level-headed. Such a tough loss.
