John Canzano is still writing great articles about Oregon, as he has inside access and gives us a ton of information. With that...it is apparent his Bastard Beaver audience is so large that he cannot lose them and focus on the Ducks only. Thus why he publicly acknowledges that Oregon did the fiduciary right thing with going to the B1G, but loves to play OSU as a victim to that pathetic audience, who eat it up. John isn't going to change, and it is a smart strategy for him. I just delete anything he writes about the Bastard Beavers before I even read it. That said, he had some nuggets in todays' article about Our Beloved Ducks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lanning said he saw U2 perform in Las Vegas at the Sphere and we traded family movie recommendations, but I was mostly struck by how grounded, comfortable, and settled Oregon’s coach sounds right now. On recruiting good people who can also play well: “What they do screams so loud I can’t hear what they say. You really get a feel for that when you get around players you’re recruiting. What are they like with the school counselor? What are they like with their family? How do they treat their mom? All those things kind of stick out to us. Not every single guy that we sign on our team is going to be a Boy Scout, but you look for guys who are going to be a great fit for the culture we’re trying to build.” On whether he’s backed away from a player based on the way he treated his mom: “Absolutely, yeah. I think you back away from people based on how they treat people. That’s part of the art of this. There’s a lot of people who are really talented football players.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't care for Jon's suck-up strategy to Bastard Beavers, (he never mentions the 30 million being stolen from each of Pac-12 teams leaving) but he does have further insight into our coach and our team. I will hold my nose, read, and pass along on occasion.

Our Diamond Ducks (26-10) have a series beginning tonight at 6:05 PM against Stanford, and I am wary of a team that could mess up our NCAA Tournament chances. They are 15-19, but have won series against the Huskies, the Cougars and beat the Bastard Beavers in a game just last weekend. The 'Furd, in their Sunken Diamond are good enough to beat Oregon, yet if we play our best--another series is there for the taking. Coach Waz said it well recently, when he acknowledged that Oregon is a "good" team, but not a great team yet. The upside is there, and both the pitching and hitting overall have improved, although certain games we stink it up in a category or two. Below are the current conference standings, and if Oregon can keep winning series--it all sorts itself out. Arizona has Utah, Stanford and Oregon State left to play, while Utah has the Ducks, Arizona, UCLA and USC. We have a shot at the championship, or at least a very high second place that could assure hosting a regional. Gotta win this series!

He is from Torrance, California and is 6'2" 320 pounds. Nose Tackle! (That first name is a little off-putting. Maybe better for the 'Devils and Dilly?)
-
Holy Toledo! Season Tickers sold out? Two game packages is all that is left....in mid-April?
-
I am pondering their problems...
-
Wowsa. This corner is fricken 6'4"...a CORNER! He was the No. 1 JC player in the nation at all positions. The DBs are DEEP baby!

Let that sink in....a FRESHMAN.

Darn right!

Jaden Rashada Moving AGAIN? Leaving Dilly?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Dilly is such a good guy, a class act. I cannot help but cheer for him in the Big-12... (So much more nobility than I...) -
Good gosh...what a flake. To think we heavily recruited him...about three schools ago. Murmurs from ASU camp of immaturity and being concerned about how good other ASU QB Sam Leavitt has looked in spring practices. Sorry for Dilly. (Beyond us poaching one his best coaches of course)

Oregon DB Daylen Austin Arrested for Hit-and-Run
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It makes me ill that a national news agency was reporting this on their front page. All the political stuff, and then..."Oregon Player Arrested for Hit-and-Run." Lovely, not the way I want national press... -
In the 2022 class, he was not only a top-50 player (No. 32 on On3) but also an actual Rivals 5-Star, of which is darn hard to attain. The No. 2 Safety in the entire class? He just entered the portal in this spring session. I noted it in another thread assembled by NJDuck, and was surprised considering the depth of the DB room at the moment. From ScoopDuck.com: "Matthews is going to be one of the most highly coveted transfers in the open market this Spring. He fits what Oregon needs as well. The cherry on top is the fact he’s only a junior-to-be so he’ll have multiple year of eligibility left. As we know this one early on is Oregon and Florida State so we’ll see where it goes." I guess if you have a shot at a talent like this--you stack them up? Jacoby Mathews | Rivals.com N.RIVALS.COM Jacoby Mathews - Defensive back for Texas A&M on AggieYell

I have stated that with no B1G teams in the top-25, Our Beloved Ducks could clean up and make the NCAA Tournament that much easier when in the B1G next year. Now, after looking into it--I think we can win a bunch of games, but getting a higher RPI is going to be a problem. The Pac-12 has 11 Baseball teams, (none at Colorado) and we play all ten other teams each year. The B1G currently has 14 teams and they only play eight series? What? So they adopted the SEC football formula? That won't work to build a strong RPI or SOS, thus Oregon will need to schedule some tough out-of-conference games to build that RPI. Just when I thought leaving Arizona, Stanford and the Bastard Beavers behind would help us...we may need to schedule them anyway! I did NOT see that one coming...

No, this is not Derrick Harmon the massive 330 pound Nose Tackle who was in the portal before. This Barrow fellow is only 250 pounds, and is a defensive end/edge rusher of which we are full at. We only need a Nose Tackle if he is proven and big enough... Simeon Barrow Jr. - Michigan State Spartans - Defensive Line WWW.ON3.COM Explore Simeon Barrow Jr.'s athlete profile at On3.com. This was a highly sought out receiver, as five B1G teams offered (and Oregon) along with eight SEC teams. He is a Rivals 4-Star with offers from so many including Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, etc. Isaiah Mozee | DuckSportsAuthority N.RIVALS.COM Isaiah Mozee - 2025 4 Star Wide receiver for Lees Summit North (Lee's Summit, MO) on Rivals.com

Our own Pennsylvania Duck, Kim Paczesniak, died on this last Sunday April 14th from COVID, and treatment complications. I cannot begin to convey the feelings that I have, and especially that of Joe Perkins, (NJDuck) who worked closely with Kim to coordinate the postings of articles every day. Kim cannot be replaced in this world, or on this forum. Her love and genuine caring for everyone was present in every phone call, and the hundreds of hours of dedicated service given to the members and readers of this forum cannot be understated. I recall telling her many times at between the times of 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM Eastern time--to go to bed and we'll figure out how to post the rest of the game articles from the evening later. It was one of tons of examples of how she took her volunteer commitment very seriously, and how we all benefited from it. I am beside myself, trying to understand and accept the loss of Kim. It is common at Autzen Stadium before football games to have a moment of silence to honor those who have fallen in service of others. After posting this, I will take until tomorrow at this time to refrain from posting as my own day of tribute (From the 17th to the 18th at 10:00 AM) to this wonderful and remarkable Oregon fan. From Mark Paczesniak, Kim's Husband: Kim's life is a great American story. Born in Singapore (02/20/1952), Kim's mother took her back (as an infant) to their home village in rural south China, where her mother soon died (Mark and Kim don't know why). She was then living with maternal family members until she was smuggled out to Hong Kong when she was two years old, living there with a grandmother until she was seven years old. Arrangements were made for her to be sent to America to be raised by a maternal aunt and her husband in Salem, Oregon. Timmy and Wanda Yee raised Kim as her parents, where she graduated from South Salem high school in 1970. Working two jobs every summer (cannery and waitress), Kim paid her way through the University of Oregon, graduating in 1974. Kim excelled in customer service, and then into outside sales with Owens Corning Fiberglass, and later into sales management with Certain Teed Corp. It was very unusual (at that time) for a female to rise to such a level of authority. This led to a corporate promotion in marketing at company headquarters in Valley Forge, PA (1986). Our first son, Mitch, was born in 1990 and our second son, Joe, was born in 1992, at which time Kim stepped out of the workforce to be a full time mom. When Joe started kindergarten at at our local grade school Kim started a whole new career. For 25 years Kim worked in learning support as a teacher's assistant. This last year of illness was her first year of retirement. She was my one and only for 50 years. (Married for 47) Never a bad day. From Joe Perkins, NJDuck Kim was a wonderful person whom I got to know personally working side by side with her, bringing in pertinent news worthy informative articles for Oregon fans, stimulating many tremendous conversations on the OBD. She was kind and generous to a fault, giving so much of her time and energy to bring enjoyment to our beloved site. My life was enriched because of knowing her. I am having my helmet avatar changed to Kim’s, celebrating her life, keeping her memory alive on the OBD. Kim was one of a kind and will be forever missed!

As a corner--he had superb athletic skills, and I thought had a high upside at Oregon. He was verballed to LSU, but we turned him in the recruiting process of which I thought was a big win. We find out the facts later! -

Too early to draw conclusions, but one subscription site is cautious, while the other is already looking to replace him in the portal. Many are saying it was simply a mistake, and I can relate. When I was very young...during a rainstorm in downtown Eugene I was turning and someone walked in front of me (I could not see them due to the downpour) and he shook his fist at me and walked on after I bumped him with my bumper. He was going to press charges, and the police just fried me in our meeting. (Interrogation) They decided after listening to my story that they/the victim would not go further with this. I was young and did not know that when something like this happens--you pull over and meet with the affected party. If you don't...it is hit-and-run. Anyone who knows me knows I would never do that, but I was young, did not know the law, etc. This might be case? -
