  1. As I posted before...Fox Crader was a Rivals 3-Star when he verbaled to Oregon while Adrian Klemm was here. Then with the coaching change--Crader's status with Oregon was in doubt the same time his stature exploded with interest from major teams across the US. He was elevated to 4-Star recently, and had a visit to Oregon this last weekend, and here are some tidbits from 247 Sports... "What stood out the most for me was the family atmosphere that was constantly shown through everything we did," said Crader. "The staff really loves the players and wants them to be the best version of themselves, on and off the field." "The coaches are outstanding. They are full of energy and knowledge and I am really impressed with the staff as a whole. I talked a lot to coaches about what the future holds for Oregon football. I think that’s been a hot topic lately and I got a good picture of what that will look like. I also got to talk ball, and learn ways that coach (A'Lique) Terry works with the line." Duck players from the state of Washington were hosting him..."Josh Conerly Jr. and Dave Iuli were my hosts," said Crader. Crader visited Oklahoma and USC officially this month in addition to Oregon but said..."as far as official visits, I am done taking them," said Crader.
  2. And economists...."Usually wrong, but never in doubt!"
  3. I agree with that as Wilner/Canzano have reported that Utah already brings that area media market, thus BYU is redundant.
  4. To me, Leo Young had a commanding lead, but that kick by Birnbaum was amazing. For those who are track fans...does that kick remind you of anyone?
  5. While this was posted in a recruiting thread....the list of recruits visiting this next weekend is crazy! Three 5-Star players? Look at the list in that article, and know that our new QB verbal Michael Van Buren will be another recruiter for the Ducks on this big weekend. Good gosh, the number of highly ranked players visiting exceeds that of Cristobal, as these are heady times for Oregon! Oregon Recruiting: Ducks set for massive visitor list to close June DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A trio of 5-stars and over a dozen 4-stars all expected in Eugene this week. The latest updated list of Oregon Duck visitors.
  6. In an article from 247 Sports, we hear more about the impressions a player and his father have after their visit to Oregon last weekend... Elijah Rushing, is the No. 1 ranked Edge rusher in the nation and consensus 5-Star...and who might have the most appropriate name ever for a football player. “It was another great visit,” Rushing’s father, George, told 247Sports. “Their ability to prepare their players and development was another big selling point again. It was a solid trip, obviously they have all the bells and whistles as far as facilities and technology, but it was really good to get more personal time with everyone there." “I’m from the South, so coach Lanning reminds me of the coaches I grew up knowing. There’s a Southern feel, he’s very welcoming and just seemed like a genuine straight shooter. He’s a real person and there’s no fluff.” “One of the big things we discussed was making it a powerful room,” George Rushing said. “For coach Lanning it’s going to be about bringing waves of guys to get after the quarterback, similar to places like Alabama and Georgia where they don’t let up. It’s not just about the first group there or about the big pass rusher, it’s a total effort from the second and third unit, just bringing constant pressure and not letting up." "They believe Elijah can be a huge part of that. They did an outstanding job.”
  7. Oregon recruited and signed two of the best distance talents in years, with one, Simeon Birnbaum of Rapid City, South Dakota, who ran two races recently that set records, and was second best All- Time HS time in both the 1500 and two mile! Connor Burns of Ashland Missouri comes to Oregon generally running the longer races, and he broke Galen Rupp’s National HS record in the 5000 recently, and both Ducks were in the HS Mile National Championship going against the twin brothers of Leo and Lex Young who are headed to Stanford. Lex is a longer-distance runner like Connor, and he broke Connor's record in the 5,000 three weeks after Burns did it. All four were in this final, and Burns said before the race that the Young brothers had been dodging he and Birnbaum all year. My feathered friends, this shapes up as some epic races in the future between these four, and final result of this race was incredible. I have the video qued up to near the end of the race so you can see the battle, the unlikely kick, and how it finished. Oregon Track & Field recruiting is coming back....like a Duck in this race!
  8. You are new pastatot, and we would encourage you to post your thoughts often. WELCOME!
  9. How? It isn't as you noted, but other conferences sure want to throw dirt on us! You just wish...
  10. From the epitome of an SEC honk....who knew? Finebaum doesn't know what he's taking on...
  11. Agreed. This is far more accurate than "media-size" as how many in LA are actually watching USC/UCLA? I believe more are actually watching Oregon and OSU than those two schools combined, yet we are measured by media size of the state of Oregon vs. LA.
  12. David...great article for pondering as John Canzano recently suggested that GK has been easy on UCLA, as if he is not burning bridges for years down the road. It is plausible, and would regain the LA market and change the dynamics.
  13. This is a biggie. Something that has not been discussed is the impact on the Rutgers, the Marylands, the Northwesterns of the B1G if they have to pay football players AND support Olympic sports? There may be big fall-out of teams in the B1G, and this also creates opportunity. Ditto for the Pac-12, and certainly a muddy outlook to the future. So in the meantime--the Oregon Brand is fine and...
  14. Maybe. In 5-6 years...perhaps Oregon will have realized that being in the Pac-12 earns enough extra revenue from post-season play winnings, and from additional streaming subscribers across the globe that it behooves them to stay? Fun to watch for.
  15. I do appreciate everyone being sensitive and understanding in this thread, and the caution with the way things were written, was taken with great care. Again, very much appreciated. Where the problem was with posting religion in the past, was when people wrote outright Anti-Jewish nonsense, or insults to Mormons and Catholics. By contrast, all of you were great. Thank you.
  16. That is not AI; it is the software I installed and announced sometime back. I do NOT want to be the "bad-word police," yet I want a clean forum. We had two moderators get their feathers ruffled over that software replacing a word, and in those cases--it was an error. Yet they beat me up in public and in private over it, and thus the ensuing escalation led to their leaving the site. Every time someone uses the Lord's name in vain, or makes reference to the ultimate deity in a denigrating way--it offends people here. So I have the software automatically replace all the words that can be used in a bad way, and that means when they are not used in an offending way--it makes the same replacement. What this does is cut down the TONS of emails I have to send about "bad/offensive language," as I have enough to do and want a life. Not to mention how I hate doing it, and people hate receiving those emails. But those moderators did not care about how much work doing it manually is for me, hence I got torqued in our discussions. This software plugin is not perfect; the moderators needed to cut me some slack or fricken-come-do-the-work. So, we have to deal with the occasional mistakes it makes. My apologies. Charles
  17. Frankly....San Diego State might be licking their chops at the thought of receiving the lion's share of going to post-season. As for Oregon State? Funny how it is not an issue now after a 10 win year!
  18. The comment about faith is particularly striking to me, as this can be a minefield in today's culture, and it can hurt you on the recruiting trail. While I am not personally opposed...it does raise eyebrows. Thoughts?
  19. Usually the interviews with recruits who have just finished a visit to Oregon are all similar, but I do look for a nugget of information that gives more clues about the Lanning style and culture. Below is from speedster Gatlin Bair, who was here this last weekend. (From 247 Sports) "Coach (Dan) Lanning puts a really big emphasis on faith and family which is really important to me and there’s so many opportunities outside and after football," said Bair. "I met with all of them but mostly Junior (Adams), (Will) Stein, (Joe) Lorig and coach Lanning," said Bair. "I really like the coaches, especially coach Lanning. You can tell he loves Oregon and I think he’s going to be there for a while." Hmmm.
  20. While it is a simple concept...covering four receivers deep is hard for any defense. I remember a coaching clinic where Mark Helfrich spoke of how he loved this concept, and all the ancillary plays that could be run off of it. He made hay with this in the 2014-2015 seasons--when we had a ton of great receivers. Bird-Bombs could really help WR recruiting! Thanks Coach Boles! I'd love to see this again at Autzen this fall!
  21. What is not to like about San Diego? My only concern about them joining the Pac-12 is how so many great recruits from that area may now stay home instead of coming to the Ducks. Although Dano does recruit nationally... I think Utah is the great example for how it can elevate a program, although I believe the Aztecs will be competitive in the Pac-12 immediately, if not in the top five right away.
  22. Not completely. It has been reported on many sites who have inside knowledge, and they say that Oregon is NOT the top dollar NIL. We are competitive, enough to stay in the group a recruit is considering, but Lanning is selling the other aspects of Oregon to offset the pure payoffs. It's been working!
  23. Playing in the Dallas area once in a while will really help the Ducks' Texas recruiting, and interest in the Mustang program will explode. Good for all.
