  1. "The Big Ten and SEC believe they have authority over any change to the playoff format starting with the 2026 postseason, the first of a new six-year extension of the CFP. Changes for the 2025 playoff — unlikely at this point — require unanimity among the 10 FBS conference commissioners and Notre Dame’s athletic director."
  2. We need change, and I'm happy to see that things are moving... Sources: SEC, Big Ten to hold second AD meeting to explore CFP format changes and more SPORTS.YAHOO.COM Is a 14-team College Football Playoff with multi-automatic qualifiers per league possible?
  3. And....if there had been a 12 team Playoff last year--we would have been in it. Who knows if we wouldn't have made some noise with Bo Nix? So, no matter which year...
  4. USC has a NIL organization, but their own fans say it is poorly run. USC is in the top ten in the nation for schools with the most billionaires, and their total wealth is over 56 Billion while Phil Knight is worth 40 Billion. The money is there; there are no excuses.
  5. From The Athletic... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Did the 12-team Playoff work? So, did the first edition of the 12-team Playoff accomplish what it set out to do? Andy McCullough wrote in-depth about the cultural impact of expanding college football’s postseason format. Here, let’s recap three key pieces and determine whether they were successes: Fan interest: Success. The number of average viewers nearly doubled from the first round to the semifinals. The championship featured two of the sport's biggest brands, with very little argument about whether either deserved to be there. Fans followed teams from passionate home-game atmospheres to traditional bowl sites, giving even the casual fan more to root for as the postseason went on. “College football has never fulfilled its potential in terms of fan interest across the country,” former CFP director Bill Hancock told The Athletic. The expanded field offers a better opportunity to achieve that. Seeding: Needs work. The sample size is too small to start making broad assumptions about the lopsided first-round games or about all of the teams with byes losing in their Playoff debuts. The championship being played between No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 8 Ohio State, both of whom had been seeded well behind No. 3 Boise State, No. 4 Arizona State and others, speaks to the weirdness of it all, though. And some needed tweaks are clear. Oregon drew much too difficult of a path for an undefeated No. 1 seed. The timeline: Hung jury. The expanded Playoff brought us the longest college football season ever. There were 43 days between the CFP final rankings being announced and Ohio State winning the crown. College football’s December calendar is already crowded, and the longer Playoff complicates it further — particularly for players who intend to transfer. I’ll never complain about more football, especially when the stakes are high, but college football going late into January is a long stretch. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mr. FishDuck: I simply recall how with two weeks left in the regular season....28, that is TWENTY EIGHT teams still had a shot at the Playoff. The interest generated for so many teams and fan bases is enormous.
  6. Anytime you have a Playoff or Tournament....all you gotta do is make it in. Then catch fire, as Ohio State and the Washington Commanders have shown. Doesn't matter how many losses you have in the regular season if you make the Playoff, and peak then. Ohio State was in such shambles after the Michigan game, but...
  7. "This is the trade-off college football has made with Playoff expansion. More than half the programs in FBS can enter every season with reasonable hope they can be part of this tournament if everything breaks right. But the universe of teams that have enough depth to survive three or four Playoff games while also having the firepower to take down a monster is always going to be very, very small." Very, very true.
  8. That is the best compliment I can receive, and I sincerely thank you. It is a ton of work, but it is nice having a clean forum. For those who are new, I do NOT remove or edit posts because of content; I want all opinions, but our moderation is based upon behavior. It is simple; be polite and respectful, don't tell anyone what to write or think and no politics or religion. Easy! But making fun of our rivals is encouraged!
  9. Wow. I did not see that coming! I am fine with where he puts Oregon, because we lose so much, and have to "prove it." 1. Penn State 2. Texas 3. Notre Dame 4. LSU 5. Clemson 6. Ohio State 7. Georgia 8. Oregon 9. Arizona State (Wow! Dilly!) 10. BYU
  10. Oregon is 22nd? Geez...I don't what to think of that! I do know that LSU is not ranked high enough... OK...now we know it is a crock; USC and Washington aren't on it!
  11. 30Duck! His prediction of 37-20 was only a total of six points off is all to the 34-23 score. A few of us, (like yours-truly) were seven points off, but 30Duck came that much closer! Congrats to 30Duck! Thanks to everyone who played these prediction contests this year, as they are great fun. Again....congrats to 30Duck! You GOT it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction Ohio State versus Notre Dame? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. And please check the other posts in this thread to prevent putting up the a score that has already been predicted. We had one week where four entries were the same score! Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Ohio State creates --the number of sacks Ohio State records on Notre Dame --the number of passing yards by the Buckeyes My prediction is: Ohio State 30-20 1 2 262 Go B1G!
  12. I put up a prediction thread with tiebreakers in a Pinned Post; this is where our official contest takes place, but it is fun to discuss the "why" of your decision in this thread.
