Doesn't this drive coaches and the PR people crazy? Makes you want to drop-kick the freshman through the goal-posts?

I am not reporting this as fact, but passing along the thoughts of others...that are wild.

The point to me, is when you consider the value of Tosh Lupoi...it is over-the-top in recruiting. This will be the best defensive line recruited to Oregon in one year, and it is not even close.

San Diego State is fringe IMHO, and all the great San Diego players we have recruited in the past will have no need to leave home to be in the Pac-12. Meh, but I understand. SMU has a 32,000 seat stadium; do we really need another OSU or WSU who take from pie, and not enhance it? As for the others?

Mack reminds me of how Mike Bellotti would do Oregon Club lunches; he was charming and told us funny stories about the team and made everyone feel good without giving away anything.

If Lanning wins the bowl game--he gets an "A" even with what I think were incredible screw-ups in two games. Why an "A?" Because a 10 win team is good, and doing that in your first year is "A" type of work.

That could be true, but another possibility has been raised and has happened often in the past; the player signed his LOI and has already sent it to Oregon. But he does not want it announced until HE does it on January 3rd, thus both parties get what they want. This may not be a February signing, but a done-deal. We find out on January 3rd...

OK...I will let-the-cat-out-of-the-bag early. Coach Boles will later explain how the Pistol formation under Stein is different than most, as both the QB and RB are not as deep, thus less time for a DE or OLB to cover both players in a Zone Read. Oregon ran a bit of the Pistol in 2014 and you never heard a peep from me, because it was a shorter Pistol that worked. The problem with Cristobal's Pistol was the lack of variety of plays, the predictability of early down plays, the ease of keys for the opposing defenses to watch and because the formation was so deep--the extra time the defense had to negate the Zone Reading.

There is a pay article on 247 that I cannot link, but the bottom line is that Ashton Porter, a 6'3" 255 lb. DE is a Rivals 4-Star defensive terror that the Ducks want bad. The Crystal Balls and predictions are trending to his verbal on January 3rd, (signing in February) and--if he does--Lanning would beat Cristobal's first year recruiting record from 14 of the 4/5-Star players that are so hard to recruit, to 15. Good grief....Porter's senior numbers are crazy; 24 Tackles-for-Losses and 15 Sacks? Whew!

I suggest you read the full article, as nobody has been a bigger critic of the Pistol than yours-truly, but I see a system in place with this offense. Power run until the defense adds more to the box, and then throw over the top? Is there any offense in college football that throws deep eight times a game? Coach Boles will also go into some differences later this week, but I will admit to being impressed with the offensive system.

Now...is a relative term. In geologic terms, it could be millions of years! But the first one from FishDuck is tomorrow...

I wasn't sure to include him, as he may want to test the NFL waters. You are quite right, in that he too is very experienced and could help this offense score a TON!

Below is a projected starting offensive line for 2023: LT: Josh Conerly Jr. LG: Marcus Harper Center: Jackson Powers-Johnson RG: Junior Angilau RT: Ajani Cornelius Conerly did not start, but played extensively, and everyone knows he is ready for every down. Harper did start most of our games this year and was an important part of the O-Line's extraordinary performance. (Great puller who hurt linebackers with glee) Jackson Powers-Light started at both center and right guard when there were injuries to Alex Forsyth and Ryan Walk and played extensively. Junior Angilau was an All-Big12 Preseason pick, and started 34 games at guard for Texas. Ajani Cornelius was judged as the best offensive lineman in the portal from Rhode Island. I am astounded at how Oregon will not be rebuilding, but reloading with an offensive line that could be/will be as good as last year's from the first game. I will not go into all the reserves available who will play and get experience, but you can look at them in the ChileDuck Depth Chart that is always up at the top of this forum in the drop-down menu from "Repository." And they will be coached by a proven superb offensive line coach. Add the starters at receiver, (Hutson and Franklin) the savvy tight ends in Ferguson and McCormick along with our running backs (Irving and Whittington) and throw Bo on top of that? I see a TON of points scored in 2023! Respect this offensive line!

Autzen used to be louder when they had cement below the AstroTurf which bounced the sound waves back to the crowd and sideline. But we removed the concrete and installed Field-Turf which has millions of rubber pellets that absorbs shock for player safety, but also soaks up sound waves. The only reason I figure we are in the Top-Ten is because everyone else has Field-Turf too!
