What FLAG Will USC Carry Onto the Field?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agreed. We have not had a defense this good against both rushing and passing in 11 years, and we are one of the nations best. Time to showcase it! Tonight at the OBD Get-Together...we are going to break down this guy's sackmaster moves... -
What FLAG Will USC Carry Onto the Field?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In an Apple News article that most of us do not have access to--USC HC Lincoln Riley admitted that... USC didn’t review any of the game tape of their loss to Washington. Said with a new DC in the seat, why go back and harp on all the things that went wrong? Riley says that losing one game at Oregon won’t define the program or have a material impact on recruiting. Wow. He is waving the flags already.- 25 replies

The last time the Trojans came to Autzen, the terror attacks in Nice France occurred, and as a show of support--they surprised the Oregon crowd with what they brought out during their entrance. While it was a nice gesture...rarely has carrying the French flag into battle worked out well. "I never said I was noble." (Photo from great FishDuck photographer Gary Breedlove)

The Oregon Ducks Offense: Touch Pass Sweep
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
ln the Gulf Coast Offense, Taggart ran a Jet-Sweep, but we did not pull players like this. I like it as it is our own updated version of "Student Body Right." Taggart brings an Ultimate POWER/MISDIRECTION Play Package to Oregon FISHDUCK.COM Charles Fischer of FishDuck.com analyzes a misdirection play series that launched Willie Taggart and will be the foundation of the Oregon offense next season. And a fellow detailed the Lead-Sweep and Jet-Sweep under Chip Kelly of which is a variation, but different from above. Thanks so much to Coach Boles! -
Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus USC? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon, 70-30, 2, 4, 362 My prediction might be a bit wishful, but we need to win big, as I think style points are important with as many one-loss teams as there are. But I do think that if Oregon can score on their first three drives....the Trojans will lose heart and the landslide will be on. Gonna be a lot of these... Tonight at the OBD Get-Together--I will explain why I think this will happen within Oregon's offensive and defensive game-plans.

He is good, but as a team? I believe they will fold up quicker than the chairs at my Friday Film Session. Their will to fight on will be quickly broken--mid second quarter, when they see they cannot stop Oregon....IMHO. Oregon has scored a bunch on them before... I have no such confidence with any other opponent going into the game. (other than Portland State)

My Oregon Football Fantasy: Can We Hold This Moment?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Precisely. So what happens if Oregon keeps their foot on the gas for four quarters? 70! -

Visiting Eugene for Game - What Else To Do?

Whoa. Big Step Forward for the Oregon Defense?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agreed. Oregon has scouted and prepared the players for particular sets, and opponent plays from those sets extremely well. Back in the Stanford game....when the Cardinal went into twin backs in the backfield, our defense was shouting and adjusting. They knew that usually this means an option play coming, just blew it up a number of times. To all...I will be showing some dandy stuff in the Film Session at the OBD Get-Together on Friday night! (Pinned Post at top) Join us! -
Since Oregon lost to Washington, the defense appears to have stepped up bigger than most of us would have realized. In the last three games, the defense has only given up three touchdowns? Wowsa. Meanwhile USC has given up 45 points per game in their last four games. Their issues are too multiple to mention in this thread between being very undersized on the defense line, and not very good at getting off blocks, confusion often in the secondary, etc. But damn...the Ducks defense giving up only three touchdowns in three games? It is darned impressive, and I'd love to see our defense shut USC down--way below their scoring average. This is an additional jump forward for Oregon's defense....but why? What do you think the reason is? At the OBD Get-Together on Friday night, (See Pinned Post at Top) I will give my analysis/thoughts about how Oregon will slow down Caleb Williams. Join us!

My Oregon Football Fantasy: Can We Hold This Moment?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Let's see...if we get 70 points on Saturday....that could raise our scoring average to nearly 50 points per game! Gotta have fun with this dream while I can! -
Oregon is officially No. 1 in the nation for scoring at 47.4 points, something that rarely, if ever, occurred with Chip Kelly. While I know that it is the final season stats--that counts...I want to savor the moment. (And our offensive stats will get a boost this Saturday) And giving up only 16 points a game? It is a fantasy, a dream...so don't wake me up. No. 1 Scoring Offense No. 1 First Downs No. 1 Turnovers Lost No. 1 Completion Percentage No. 2 Total Offense No. 2 Sacks Allowed No. 3 Yards per play No. 5 3rd Down Conversion Percentage These rankings are not in conference, but the nation? Whew! My knees are buckling...

Thanks David, for pointing something nobody else has touched on--the offensive game plans. The team of analysts Lanning as assembled in addition to the offensive staff is really putting together impressive game plans--as well as Bo making great adjustments. But I can tell you that it is happening on the defensive side of the ball as well. In my preparation for the Friday night Film Session for the OBD Meet-and-Greet, (see top pinned post--come!) it is evident that Oregon has scouted and prepared for opposing teams' major plays. A ton of great defense stops occurred because Duck defenders recognized the play and knew what to do immediately. It was big on a ton of third down plays... Gotta love this coaching staff!

I was driving to an appointment, and was listening to sports radio for a few minutes and Colin Cowherd was discussing all the NFL teams that will draft a quarterback. He believes that minimum five, and maybe six teams will draft a quarterback in the 2024 draft in April and was explaining that "there are not enough QBs that are top quality available." "I see only four for certain for the first round; Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Michael Penix, and Bo Nix. That's it. The rest are question marks..." Wowsa. He sees Nix going high in the first round, and it got me to thinking about how much transferring to Oregon has meant for Bo, and how much the extra year has boosted his stock. What a great confirmation story for potential QB transfers!

Oregon continues to get praise from the pundits, and unlike the past--it is not the soft damning praise that comes with disclaimers. (But they are in the Pac-12, you know) Now The Athletic has writers sold on the Ducks too. Below is ranking by Nicole Auerbach, and again--the highest one-loss team over Texas and Alabama. I never would have been able to write that in the past! 6. Oregon (8-1) Ducks quarterback Bo Nix might be the quietest Heisman Trophy contender I can remember, at least this late in the season. But Nix is absolutely in the mix for the award, and he continues to put up spectacular numbers. In a 63-19 win over Cal, Nix threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns and ran for two more. Early mistakes didn’t matter much, but they give Dan Lanning plenty to harp on this week in practice, if he wants to. Judging by his postgame comments in which he lamented lost opportunities due to penalties and other self-inflicted wounds, it’s clear Lanning wasn’t very happy … with 63 freaking points in a conference game in November. But that’s who he is, and this is part of the reason I’m all in on these Ducks. They’re getting better as the season goes on.
