  1. The final score was 30-3, Oregon State making a statement. It is 16-6, Fresno State over Washington State with three minutes left in the third quarter.
  2. Whoa! 30-0 Beavers, and still 16-0 Fresno State. (Keep in mind that both the OC and DC of Washington State left for other jobs)
  3. Developments like this are why a ton can happen between now and Wednesday morning...
  4. Every year 90-95% of verbals hold true and sign, but there are always a few that provide negative drama. But our coaching staff is in on a number that could go the other way for us...
  5. It ain't over-til-it's-over. There is also the transfer QB situation to monitor, where UCLA is hosting both Kent State QB Collin Schlee and Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei on visits this weekend. Should either of them go to UCLA, it might make Moore reconsider his potential flip decision.
  6. Not offered, but visiting this weekend...meaning it is serious. Texas OL Junior Angilau enters NCAA transfer portal 247SPORTS.COM A 34-game starter for the Longhorns, Angilau is entering the portal as a graduate transfer Junior Angilau is a 6-5, 280-pound Offensive Guard from Salt Lake City, UT. 247SPORTS.COM summary
  7. Yep, in the prior type of thinking we all had. But this is the new era of QB management--Oregon will be just fine.
  8. It's fluid, its exciting, its great entertainment.....and Oregon will end up just fine.
  9. Cam stated in another interview that the extended years allowed him to get a Masters Degree, but he is not keen on pursuing a Ph.D with the extra year!
  10. Pennsylvania Duck posted this below in the recruiting thread....but gadfry, this is quite a group Oregon is after...and that does not count the portal prospects!
  11. I can tell that for some of you--this is relatively new, the whole recruiting game. As a fan who has watched it since the internet and Oregon sites began....fluid does not adequately describe what happens routinely each year. The vast majority of our recruiting class that has verballed to us will stay with us, but a few will flip and we will flip some our way. Just the way it works, and I would not be surprised or outraged when it does occur. In the end, Oregon will do fine. It can immediately change to where what looks good now--is the opposite Monday morning with a recruit. Then it changes again on Tuesday, and on Wednesday morning he goes another way and signs with another school. A small percentage of these, especially the high-profile recruits have this happen consistently every year. Just the way it is... A Duck-Buddy told me this morning, (he knows a verbal recruit and his parents) that the energy this young coaching staff has in recruiting is just so attractive and contagious--and how the Ducks will do just fine between the HS recruiting and the portal. You need to have faith in that. It is not over with Moore, and even if it was--it is not the same crushing blow that it would have been years ago. Quarterback recruiting has changed the most of any position by a mile; you will not be able to stack a QB room with tons of 4&5-Star players. If they don't start--they portal out. QB recruiting is different now, and I am not saying I like it, (see above) but we all adapt. Between all the options available and our new offense--Oregon will be just fine at QB; sell yourself on that, and consider saving your complaints for when it is not true. (Not as embarrassing) Think of how difficult and complex it is for our coaches, and yet they won BIG last year in the portal--and did well salvaging our HS recruiting class. We are in on SO MANY big recruits at the last minute...so many more than prior years. This is high drama that creates great entertainment; enjoy the ride!
  12. This is not a new commit, but has been a verbal up to now. (Here is Oregon's 2023 verbal list) And he was offered by Texas, Oklahoma and USC, so the talent is there as a Rivals 4-Star.
  13. Normally I am not available much at all nowadays between 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM here during the week, but I gotta take a minute to pop this in for you. It seems that a moderator on a Beaver site says former Texas QB and portal transfer Hudson Card was in Eugene quietly last weekend? And...things are unraveling at Texas A&M, as a 5-Star LB decommitted and is going to Tennessee. I personally have not been following it, but other events have apparently occurred to give recruits an unsteady feeling about the Aggies and their wonder-boy coach. Oregon is recruiting the No. 1 defensive lineman, 5-Star David Hicks hard, and if things begin to fall for Oregon and we gain momentum...and TAMU falters--Hick's father's pushing of TAMU lessens, and Oregon could benefit. So much gossip, so much fun...so many dominoes! David Hicks...whew!
  14. If this recruiting weekend goes well, even losing Moore could still result in a monster class. We’ll just get a portal QB next year… But these other players-whew!
  15. It's true. Thanks Drex, as it is fun to watch their growth and dream about their upside. Sweet Sixteen? Elite Eight?
  16. There are times to roll-in-the-bleak-cynicism, and many can, but I am going to savor this moment of supreme Oregon entertainment. Very exciting!
  17. The Recruiting Dead period begins on the Sunday, so starting tomorrow--we have the final recruiting weekend with some tasty-tidbits to ponder from many sources. One source at 247 felt that Oregon had the most excitement of all the schools because of who they could lose, and who the Ducks could pull in at the last minute. The NLI (National Letter of Intent) day on this next Wednesday is going to be exciting as some players will announce then. While this can be frustrating to some--this is high drama and screamin' when the final tally is taken. Watch for Visits: Kadyn Proctor: the massive 5-Star offensive tackle has an in-home with Klemm and Lanning today, but then he travels to Alabama for a visit...maybe. Iowa sites feel that Proctor is locked down to the Hawkeyes, but if he is considering a trip to the 'Tide...that ain't so. Oregon has a real shot at flipping this guy. Caleb Presley: This corner has dropped in the standings, but he is still a Rivals 4-Star and a stud corner we need. He lives in Seattle, and Washington has made a great push for him recently. If he visits the Huskies again this weekend....not-good for the Ducks. Dante Moore: If Moore agrees to visit one more time and get to know new OC Will Stein even further--this is a good sign that Oregon can hold off that bas***d Chip Kelly. (So you are going to start recruiting well now?) I believe that Oregon has been honest and told Moore that Nix is returning, and Moore is pondering going somewhere he can play immediately. Or is he jonesing for more NIL? The Big-Time Closer: Pretty incredible, but the visitors are going to get to meet Phil Knight, and perhaps his magic can tip the balance in our favor with some BIG FISH who are showing up. Elite receiver Jurrion Dickey is locked into Oregon and will be here as well as Idaho stud, Kenyon Sadiq, a 6'3" 220, TE/WR who has moved up the rankings into the top 150! But the visitors that Oregon is swinging at...whew! (Rivals) High 4-Star DE Ashton Porter, 4-Star TE Jamari Johnson, 4-Star RB Jayden Limar, and 5-Star Safety in Peyton Bowen? Holy Crap! Don't forget that the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country David Hicks is committed to Texas A&M and returns to College Station this weekend, but has taken four trips to Oregon including two in the last month, one last weekend and no question he is high on the Ducks. Oregon has LSU commit Daylen Austin visit last weekend, and he is a Rivals 4-Star corner, and the Ducks are in the final three for 5-Star Matayo Uiagalelei, a defensive lineman. Wowsa. My FishDuck Friends...the drama of how this could swing! The Ducks could land a Top-Five Recruiting class, or get dumped down to No. 20...whew! (Oregon is No. 12 now on Rivals) This could get hot!
  18. The key word there are post-season berths, as in Football Playoffs, March Madness, Bowl games, etc. I would be curious as how others feel about ALL teams in the conference get half of the bowl payout, and the other half split with the other members? For example OSU would get half of the revenue from their bowl on Saturday, and that helps to pay the bills in attending. Yet the media contracts, streaming etc. should be split evenly...I think?
  19. And the risk to the player is extreme as well. The latest stats I saw indicated that 48% of players who enter the portal do not get a new scholarship with a new team. So he should not have left! The incredible risk to both the player and the school is not something I realized until recently.
  20. 1Funduck...I changed your thread title from wondering about NIL amounts to your actual question at the end of your post--as to whether a school should primarily go the portal route in building a roster? IMHO...Portal scholarships are incredibly risky, because if the player does not work out--you still have your roster problem, and you have burned a scholarship for a long time. Please see the discussion in this thread, referring to the article below I wrote recently with my opinions on that strategy. Oregon Taking Portal Transfers is VERY Risky Business FISHDUCK.COM As I start to dig into some of the fine-points of the transfer portal–I realize I've been looking at it primarily from the angle of the player...
