  1. Yep, I am an old fart, who is behind the times. And that would not be the only topic! No sweat.
  2. Well, my outlook has not changed. I will not fret about something that may or may not happen a decade from now. I will focus on what is important....
  3. To put this into perspective... The 2023 class signed last December and now in February comes from players who are presently seniors in high school. The 2024 class to be signed this next December and February of 2024 are currently juniors in high school. This means a verbal to the 2025 class is from a high school player who is a sophomore.
  4. Yeah, and the players supported Cristobal at Oregon. Oh well, if Justin is happy--that's good for me.
  5. This is the first time I've seen him referred to as "Nyck."
  6. A first chance for Coach Lanning to make his case!
  7. I still get that on occasion (the title) in emails and on the phone with Duck-Buddies, and although I've explained it before--there are a lot of new people and the story has grown. First thing is--although a ton of our FishDuck.com articles make reference to pulling me away from a gambling site to address the article topic...the truth is, I've never placed on online bet, or with a bookie anywhere, none. I have a lot of vices, but I am not into gambling. So What Are These Gambling References About? FishDuck.com is getting paid to place backlinks into articles. Why, and what is that? Companies, (usually abroad) want their new gambling websites to be found on Google, thus their Google Rankings must go up. These new gambling site companies go to Marketing/SEO companies and pay them to raise their profile, their "SEO Juice" (Search Engine Optimization) with the Google search process. If their new site or company is linked on another site (like mine) that has excellent SEO Juice...then it helps them get found in a Google Search so much better. These links are not advertising, and not meant to generate business, they are just there to be a backlink on my site is all. They pay the FishDuck.com PayPal in US dollars, and while it is not much, it helps to pay the bills of the two sites. Global Business Never Done Before.... This backlinking business for SEO purposes is something I never anticipated seeing in my lifetime, and yet it employs thousands of participants around the world. Above is a map with a few of the locations where Ad Agencies or foreign SEO firms are located. In the past two weeks I've done business with firms in the island nation of Cyprus, in Israel, Bulgaria and even the Ukraine! Not long ago I did business a number of times with a firm in the island nation of Malta, and the island nation of Mauritius, off the east coast of Africa. I’ve worked with a firm in Hungary for a New Zealand betting site…a Hong Kong firm to a Canadian website, a firm in the Ukraine for a site in India, and quite a few in the UK for their type of football sites, and even Cricket betting sites. One order was from Derby, England, not far from where the web developer for this forum lives in Sheffield, England. We do get some American orders, such as FANDUEL from a US SEO company in New Jersey, but most are in Europe such as Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Portugal and even Albania. Working in the Middle of the Night? When they are emailing during the day (their time) it is the middle of the night for me. So usually we have a day lag-time of responses, although I have answered people in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the rest-room and check my cell phone for emails. You gotta-do what you gotta-do to keep the FishDuck.com and OBD forum bills paid. This is an enormous amount of time behind the scenes to keep the bills paid as I answer reams of emails, produce the backlink sentences they want in articles, create articles myself when none are scheduled, send invoices to their firms via PayPal, and then haggle/remind them to pay FishDuck.com. What Can YOU Do? The good news is that this Shameless Beggar no longer has to hit you up for donations--now that the advertising and backlink orders can pay the bills. My commitment is keep the bills paid of both sites, and have them available for free to the good people of this community and all Oregon fans who join us. We have volunteer writers, but can always use more who like to write for fun. All our writers work full-time, and write articles to ponder Oregon topics as a hobby. Email me if interested, as I might be training a new batch of writers (a few hours online is all) and I'd love to do it all at the same time. charles@fishduck.com Thank goodness for the volunteer Duck News Hunters, and the Moderators as their time given help to keep the sites at no charge to the public. Don't just show up to be entertained...jump in and post your opinions! Better yet, START a thread as we all have something to add to this community. I am working full-time, so I cannot be posting much on the weekdays, but I will do my part with keeping the sites up. Consider being on of the 30+ volunteers here, or simply start posting. This is an incredible community, and these two sites are truly a respite from the nastiness of the real world. God bless you all. Charles Fischer
  8. You made me laugh, as it would take quite a number of IPAs to do that, although I may not have been far off after the Washington game. I think you make a great point about the "let-down" of other bowls, but I suspect teams will still participate and fans will still watch. With the new Playoff, the Pac-12 and Dan Lanning, Oregon is...
  9. Yep, the other pay sites say he is a PWO of which makes sense. With our thin depth at QB, it makes sense to bring some here. I recall how Cam Rising was hurt earlier this season, and Utah started and played a former walk-on at QB who won it at WSU on a Thursday night game. It is very low probability, but it can happen.
  10. That is a poorly written "blah-blah" article that tells us nothing beyond the obvious. And he confuses us--is he referring at times to the '23 class or the '24 class? Regardless...USC has to win one of them?
  11. I recorded it, and when I learned they won--watched it last night and could hardly believe it. If the injured players has not been--I can't imagine what this team could have achieved this season. They can still make the Tournament, but darn near have to win out from here. Cousinard is as advertised, and more. And I still don't understand why Soares started and was allowed to play at all. The team has a ton of upside, but I think Dana misses his long-term assistants more than even he realized at first. Well, that and the constantly changing roster....thoughts? Jermaine Couisnard
  12. Pretty incredible portal recruit analysis, recruiting and coaching by the Oregon staff!
  13. I love how we are going after State of Washington recruits aggressively--stick it to the Huskies too! Thanks for the update Alex!
  14. I did not watch any NFL for years until Justin Herbert began playing for LA, thus I have begun watching an occasional Charger game during the season. This weekend will the most NFL for me in who-knows-how-many years. Gotta watch the Chargers with Justin, but I like the 49er offense--they still do some Zone-Reading, and I love how they pull offensive linemen into space. And I gotta catch a Viking game once in a while, and now with three Ducks in that game and it went to OT last time--can't miss football for me. How about you? Saturday Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (Arik Armstead/Deommodore Lenoir), 1:30 p.m., FOX Los Angeles Chargers (Justin Herbert) at Jacksonville Jaguars, 5:15 p.m., NBC Sunday New York Giants (Kayvon Thibodeaux) at Minnesota Vikings (Troy Dye/Johnny Mundt), 1:30 p.m., FOX Troy Dye still stirs up the crowd...
  15. I am not Dazed, but what matters is in the fourth year, as I believe we will improve next year on defense and special teams, but we are not going to be "there" yet. So whatever the other schools do in the meantime--good for them. Once the Dan-Man has this going like Kirby...what they do...
  16. We really did have a bad defense and special teams. To think that a couple of bad coaching decisions kept us from 11-1 in the regular season is amazing. Had we gone to the Playoff--we would have been embarrassed like TCU. Dazed was right....by the time the complete team is built and ready to contend for a 'Natty--Lanning will have tightened up the "decision area," IMHO.
  17. Already happened. Stetson Bennett. How Stetson Bennett went from walk-on to national champion WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM Former walk-on Stetson Bennett never gave up on his Georgia dream. Now, the QB is a national champion, Martin Rogers writes.
  18. That is not de-recruitment, as has been described a couple of times. How Dan Lanning Will Trim the Football Roster to 85 FISHDUCK.COM I read the posts on the Our Beloved Ducks forum where the question often was, "we are way over our 85 scholarship limit–how are we going to trim anywhere from... Lanning Laws: "That Won't Last a Week at Oregon" FISHDUCK.COM The Oregon fan base is excited about the arrival and results thus far of Head Coach Dan Lanning. Yet we know very little about him beyond the obvious résumé...
  19. Good article giving us perspective, and the NC sure honed that in for many us.
  20. But is he part of the filtering process that Georgia does? If so... How Dan Lanning Will Trim the Football Roster to 85 FISHDUCK.COM I read the posts on the Our Beloved Ducks forum where the question often was, "we are way over our 85 scholarship limit–how are we going to trim anywhere from... A five star leaving Texas ATM is different than this...why leave the two-time national champion? Something smells fishy here...
  21. No you are not. We can say anything about anyone in the world here with only one exception.....we cannot get personal with current players and coaches. That's it, as negative about player performance and coaching decisions is fine...you bet--go for it. Everybody is confused, and of course they never read the rules or pay attention to my monthly references to it in here. They think...."I can't write negative," and that is completely wrong. The rules are at the top of the site....always have been! Not jumping you, woundedknees, but boy this comes up a lot. No. 26: Do not get personal in your posts about the current Players or Coaches: Discussing player performance and coaching decisions is what message boards and forums are all about, and encouraged. However, we must not get personal or nasty toward them. Questioning a play-call or whether a tackle should have been made (Performance-related) is fine, and give your thoughts as to why in one direction or the other. Whether a coach should be retained or a player replaced is also fair-game because they know they are in the public sphere and that goes with the territory. Let’s discuss their shortcomings in terms of player performance and coaching decisions, but Ad Hominem attacks on them are forbidden. To be clear, OBD members can write anything about anyone in the world, and that includes former Oregon players and coaches, as they are not current and thus you can go for it!
  22. Right. It is crazy with a dozen for one position? Two at most needed in an obvious passing situations? This is called, "finding out who can play?" There will be huge fallout in this position over the next year... And it will show veterans that they better play hard every down.
  23. It was coaching as well, IMHO. But I do believe that this is a three-year install, with it coming together in the mid-2024 season. This year will be an improvement, while late 2024 will be the beginning of something special in defense at Oregon. 2024 is my fantasy defense, and I'm sticking to it!
  24. If Riley were to take the NFL job, (which he might to get out of HS recruiting, portal recruiting, and recruiting his own guys to stay) then all the current signees to the USC 2023 class could opt out...and Oregon could benefit! At minimum it would help us immediately with speedster Rodrick Pleasant, and 5-Stars Duce Robinson and Nyckoles Harbor. Duce Robinson
