  1. As written twice before...here and here, we have had three violations recently concerning the mention of religion here, and in the past year we had some terrible things written about the faith of many of my Mormon friends right here on the OBD forum. I don't want this to go sideways, of which it can easily...so I am locking it.
  2. I agree with this, as your coaching record gets trashed in a situation like this in rebuilding. And I truly believe it is too soon for Dilly...
  3. Good article, and I agree with your surprise and delight of a much stronger than projected PAC-12. Very surprised at having four ranked teams, and quite surprised at the strength of USC, and in particular, Washington. I thought it would take a year or two for them to look as good as they are now. It pains me to say that the damn Huskies have really helped the conference profile. Thanks David!
  4. We have three objectives with the 'Feed: 1) Provide the one place that is free to everyone to get the news/articles about Oregon Sports, and 2) we are not bringing them all to you, as there is massive redundancy among all the sites. We curate the best of each Duck topic and bring them to you, in addition to the major news that all Oregon fans should be informed of. The final one, 3) We are bringing the tasty topics and tweets that can copied and brought to the main forum area for discussion with this wonderful community. We will restrict the number of articles to the FishDuck Feed to under 50, thus it may be 40-something, or the Focused Forty articles and tweets to be aware of for each day. News and articles updated throughout the day! About the FishDuck Feed: Look for the Green Pinned Topic at the top of the forum, as that will be the day's Oregon Sports News and Articles, the FishDuck Feed. Can you help? Join our team of Duck News Hunters as anyone who wants to post an article is welcome to, but please do it in the reply posts below this first post. Just pop the URL of the article in the reply post and the article box should appear; if it does not...make sure there is a space above the pasted URL in the post. Please everyone...do not post any thoughts or responses about the articles in this thread as they will be deleted. We do not have room in this thread for all the articles, and the discussion that would ensue for many of the articles. We want discussion, but copy the URL of the article you want to discuss and start a new thread in the main forum area below. It only takes a minute to copy the URL of the article and paste it into a new thread, place a good title on it and put your thoughts in your post. (I've been told that people won't take the time to do that, but this is a very special community; do your part) The FishDuck Feed is the third leg of the FishDuck Oregon Sports Community within two free websites. To learn more about all three parts, read right here about them and the story of this unique community of Oregon fans.
  5. In my study of the Georgia defense of last year and before thus far....Oregon has done almost nothing yet in the way of exotic or even basic blitzes. Lanning/Lupoi have done a ton of "simulated pressures" where we are playing it safe in the secondary with seven defenders back on pass coverage and only sending four to rush. This has occurred even on third and long at times, and we have applied some pressure because the offensive line doesn't know which four of the seven defenders near the LOS is rushing. IMHO, I think the players have too much to learn/experience yet, and Lanning is taking it slow with them. Another take is: Georgia surprised us and we were on our heels all day, and add the quick passes to the perimeter--not much opportunity for pressure. EWU was not going to seriously challenge us, hence no reason to leave basic alignments. I think our coaching staff was focused on stopping the big brutes on the BYU offensive line, and all the talk about them being more physical might have raised quite serious concerns. Since BYU was short their two best WRs, then it made sense to stop their running game, and make them try to outscore you through the air with inexperienced receivers. I think that was a good game plan, hence another view as to why we have not seen much in blitz/pressure packages. But I believe we will over the course of the season. My analysis about "setting the edge" turned out to be very timely, as there were superb examples of it throughout the game of Oregon doing well setting the edge, or blocking the BYU edge wonderfully. Hope that helps, but it is simply my guess as...
  6. Yep, old news. This was reported and discussed here two and a half days ago on Sunday morning, and we locked the thread because it could go sideways...as I will do here. We all feel bad about it, and again--this can go the wrong direction easily. Your heart was in the right place in posting it, but again--old news. Meanwhile this below is new to report, the gratitude to Oregon apologies and was in today's FishDuck Feed.... BYU, 'grateful for those who are willing to come together,' thanks Oregon for its apology after anti-Mormon chants at football game WWW.ESPN.COM In the wake of anti-Mormon chants coming during Oregon's 41-20 win over BYU Saturday, BYU issued a statement Monday thanking Oregon for its "sincere apology" and adding that "this isolated...
  7. Normally you are passing more often, and for more yardage to receive these awards, but it was the total package of game performance. Good for him! EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon quarterback Bo Nix has received a quartet of weekly honors for his performance in the Ducks’ 41-20 win over No. 12 BYU on Saturday. Nix was named the Rose Bowl Pac-12 player of the week, the Maxwell Award player of the week, and the Reese’s Senior Bowl offensive player of the week. The senior was also selected to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 list as one of the nation’s top eight quarterbacks for the week. Nix was stellar in Oregon’s win, completing 13-of-18 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a career-high three scores. It was the second straight game with five total touchdowns for Nix, and his first career game with multiple touchdowns both rushing and passing. The Pinson, Ala., native became the first Oregon quarterback to throw two touchdowns and rush for three in a game since Marcus Mariota on Dec. 5, 2014. Nix is also the first Duck QB to rush for three scores in a game since Justin Herbert on Sept. 14, 2019. Nix and the No. 15 Ducks (2-1) will travel to Pullman, Wash., this week to kick off Pac-12 Conference play against Washington State (3-0) at 1 P.M. PT Saturday on FOX.
  8. I think you make an excellent point. I was there in Autzen 34 years ago in 1988, when Bill Musgrave tried to take on an Arizona State linebacker to make the first down just as Bo did versus two defenders on Saturday. Oregon was 6-1 at that point and was looking to truly break through that year, but Bill got his collarbone broken on the play and we lost that game 21-20, and all the remaining games to limp to a 6-6 record. So I think some plays are just not worth the risk for the reward, and I agree with your concerns. That is a beautiful rich color of green, and I always loved those uniforms.
  9. The improvement has been impressive, but can he do it when it is a passing-game shootout? There will be games like that in our future, and some might question if all the receivers can step up. But I think enough can....
  10. Frankly, we could use DJ James at corner right now, even though he does not have huge speed and would be picked on now anyway. I am surprised that Manning hasn't won the spot...
  11. And thank you for passing along how to achieve the same result in an Android, as I've now added your directions to that page. Thanks!
  12. He very graciously volunteered, and we are all having fun due to his skills.
  13. Hello my FishDuck Friends, To summarize, we are experimenting with changes to see what works, what does not and what are the trade-offs that occur when we make a change? For example a "page" of posts to a thread used to be 25 until this morning when I changed it to 49 per page. Why? Because we are streamlining the FishDuck Feed to have only 40-some of the best articles available per day, the most important Oregon Sports News articles each day with a minimum of redundancy. The positive? Now only one page for the 'Feed, and faster to scroll through and check which articles you want to read. It is important for advertising purposes too, because advertising occurs only on the first page of a thread...no matter how long it is. It will now begin to fill in beyond 25 posts over the next week, and not having ads beyond the first page of 25 left a lot on the table. The negative? You will be scrolling more down the page. For members...you have a very cool feature that will take you back automatically to where you left off reading, thus scrolling won't be an issue if you are using the "Reading Marks" to the left of thread titles/headlines on the front page of the forum. How do you use the "Reading Marks?" Easy, as quick directions are right here, and you will find this is the coolest feature of the forum! It is worth being a free member for that alone... Onward!
  14. Fun, fun read--thanks Drex! And it goes to show that none of us thought that Georgia would obliterate us, and none of could foresee the progress of the team since then. That is why I roll-my-eyes when someone comes in and acts as a "final authority" on a topic, because we all are correct in our predictions only about half the time. I've been humbled so many times, so your Bo prediction is quite forgivable, since I felt the same way and the facts pointed that direction. But I want to see all those opinions, as I learn so much from everyone.
  15. Again, astute businessman, HappyToBeADuck, gives us guidance as he wrote in a post in another thread about how if we went to "only-streaming." We could set our game times to compete with B1G and SEC games during the day, and allow our Duck fans in Portland to get home at a decent time...maybe even in daylight! If we were "streaming-only" we would have no interest about filling an evening slot and more people across the US, (and recruits) could watch us at convenient times. More people around the world could watch Oregon sports via streaming, and we would never have to play on a Friday night...unless we wanted to. And if we did--who cares who else is on TV? Now the new Canzano article posted hints that "streaming-only" is probably not the way the Pac-12 is going, but a combo approach between conventional TV and streaming. George wants everyone to be able to see games one way or another, and that is a fantastic start. As long as it generates enough revenue...??
  16. There is a ton of great information there about the future of the conference and hence, Oregon. (He discusses streaming!) Canzano: Pac-12 commissioner breaks his silence WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM George Kliavkoff gives exclusive interview.

  18. Wow. With all the work I do after the game....I will be up into the wee hours of the AM. Better get more sleep the day before!
  19. It took most of Oregon fans three years and a few months...
  20. Janny...it is great to see your first post and I hope you will share your thoughts often. WELCOME!
  21. The ruling that came out today, September 19th in Federal Court, affirms that everyone has the right to assert their opinion on a social media platform. The key word is "opinion," and I want all opinions in this forum because those in the minority today can be the majority opinion in a year. The important element for this forum is how the opinion is expressed. Every opinion post written that was in violation could have been written and shared as an opinion without any issues. But the additional elements beyond the opinion, the behaviors are the problem, whether it be inappropriate aggression toward a fellow OBD member, or any other of the 33 rules. The rules on this forum are not based upon your opinion, as our rules are based on behaviors, specifically posts that are not "polite and respectful." And yes, I am also the keeper of the spirit here, as someone venting and spewing toxic bile a few times a day makes this not a fun place to hang out. Negative is fine, and there is a big difference between doing critical analysis and posting negative versus venting, as I explained here. I am really disappointed in having 16 violations in the first 15 days of the month, as people at times are not trying very hard to be nice to each other. I just permanently banned a frequent, prominent member last week because he simply could not control himself, and I will not have one person (no matter how times he/she posts great stuff) ruin the forum atmosphere for the good people of the OBD community. I realize you did not see all those violations because our fantastic moderators catch them immediately, and hide them from public view and turn them over to yours-truly. (Do hug a moderator today!) Do I really have to tell people to be nice? Yes. Do I really have to babysit adults? Yes. Multiple violators get banned because they create more work and stress for me. Sure, they may think some of their violations are mild, but they are violations, and require my enforcement or I will see more of the same behavior soon. Take up too much of my time babysitting you? You're out. Just be nice, and you will have no problem.
  22. Considering the talent and the coaching at Georgia....the rest of the schedule will seem much easier in comparison for the players.
  23. Below is what he wrote in an article this morning, and he has been good with this kind of information. Perhaps a media deal is coming soon? From John Canzano: My spider senses are tingling. The Pac-12 Conference has been quiet behind the scenes in the last couple of weeks and a few of my sources are acting like they’re knee-deep in serious deliberations. I have a hunch this week could bring some news — or at least some direction — when it comes the Pac-12’s media-rights negotiations and/or expansion. Last week’s debut of NFL Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime got a lot of us buzzing about the possibilities. Would the Pac-12 really go all-in with a streaming service? Is the money there? If so, it would explain the “hundreds of millions apart” leak on the Pac-12 and ESPN front. Further, the Pac-12 expansion question is looming. I’ve written about San Diego State, SMU, UNLV, Boise State and Fresno State at length. A few have speculated that the conference might be more aggressive, moving to add a soon-to-be Big 12 member or potentially targeting some Conference USA programs. I reached out to several high-level sources inside the Pac-12 in the last week, asking about media rights and expansion. Nobody wanted to go on the record. One source told me he couldn’t be quoted “…until we get to the other side.” It makes me think the “other side” is in sight. Keep your ear to the ground this week. The Pac-12 members likely have numbers from the bidders on the media rights front. The conference may be weighing a three-pronged dilemma: A) Take a pile of money from a streaming service knowing that you sacrifice distribution; or B) Sign on full-boat with ESPN for less money, but bask in the glow of the worldwide leader’s propaganda machine; or C) Some blend of both. I’ll have more on this as it develops.
