  1. So....the consensus so far is that this game could help our defensive "points allowed" average to get lower!
  2. 'We were Supposed to Win a Championship;' Sabrina Ionescu Reflects on Closure in Return to Eugene by Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire
  3. I was watching the game again last night, and was noticing the jump in improvement across the board with the defensive line. Keep in mind that many on that broadcast and the Oregon State Pac-12 Network broadcast were declaring the UCLA offensive line the best in the conference. We all know about Thibs as an elite defender and how his presence opens things up for others, but I also saw great technique that would have worked regardless. Popo Aumavae had some very quiet, but big plays in run defense that contributed to many TFLs. Treven Ma'ae used superb hand technique to not only blow up a few Outside Zone Reads, but in one case defeated a double-team to create a tasty TFL. Brandon Dorlus has a swim move that has him often at the QB, but also in the backfield for running play TFLs, and we are seeing it even more. Bradyn Swinson had a great game, considering it was his first major effort coming back from injury. His performance was like so many of the other Duck D-Linemen--he pressured the QB into bad throws often, and while he did not get credit for a sack, he created incomplete passes. And he had a blocked pass that created an interception, and another blocked pass that was not noticed. A real high upside there! I believe Noah Sewell was not meant to be pass-rushing as much as he is, but because he is so good at it--he should replace Mase Funa for all passing situations, and get a fast MLB to replace his spot on 3rd downs. I cannot count the number of times he forced quicker throws that were either not accurate or purposely thrown out-of-bounds. Jeffrey Bassa is a candidate for the aforementioned, as he is making it impossible to keep him off the field--even if he is undersized to be a linebacker. And we are starting to see some excellent inside blitzes from Tim DeRuyter that we heard about, and now are enjoying. Bottom line? This defense is really blossoming and coming to maturity at the right time in the season!
  4. Lockie did not last long, and was brought in due to injury as I recall. Prukop has been mentioned above, and I will admit that between him and AB...it is close!
  5. I am going to politely disagree; the first interception--I watched it again last night-had a receiver wide-open crossing the middle, but AB made a very bad pass. Not the play-call on that one, IMHO. As for the second interception? I hope you all get up early tomorrow to read my article about the "End-Game" and give me your thoughts to what is written before the game begins.
  6. Hello My OBD Forum Friends! Lets get these predictions started today and remember I look for the spread with then the closest score that has the spread correct. The data I need from you is: (entries without all the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count as I am not going to hunt them all down) --the winner --the score, and the tiebreaker information needed from each of you is... --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards. My guess is: Oregon 38-16, 3, 4, 270 Note to all: GameDay threads seem to remove the filters we have within us during the week. Writing negative about the Ducks on GameDay is fine, (as we write about negative every day here) but let's not be venting on fellow Duck fans. There is a difference and I think most of you know when it is. Hopefully that won't be an issue this week!
  7. Nope. I call it even. The Pac-12 officials took away that Field Goal, but gave one back by penalizing our call out to "Stem" on the defensive line, which allowed them to get the FG on the last play of the first half. Incompetent officiating does appear to be consistent!
  8. I am not wild about wearing a color of the visiting team...but this does look pretty cool. Gosh I love that helmet. And they have the crowd wearing YELLOW, which will make a great background for pictures for our articles!
  9. My Saturday article is precisely about the "End-Game" and I would love to hear everyone's thoughts...
  10. I meant an actual starter, and not a fill-in due to injury.
  11. Good gosh Jon....you own this subject. Really well-thought out and reasonable takes on this--whew!
  12. Right. If he has caught a few and one was a biggie--the 20 yards per catch makes sense. But THAT is a lot of explosion plays when there are 50 catches. Anything else you have on him is welcome ChicoDuck!
  13. Whew! Something to watch for... I was chatting with a Duck-Buddy, and we could not come up with a worse starter at QB for Oregon since 1991.... (30 years ago!)
  14. Agreed. One way to keep dissenters quiet is to WIN BIG when you can. All on him!
  15. So much incredible talent assembled--should be a great season!
  16. I completely agree--I really like what they've done with the helmets this year!
  17. There are also some practice updates, and it appears the young-gun QBs did some nice things. Good video interviews at the end if you have some time to kill. FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT: OCT. 27 by Rob Moseley of GoDucks.com
  18. He is having an incredible year, and is a big-time sprinter for the Track team as I understand. What is amazing is how Oregon has held onto him considering he lives near Arkansas, and considering their track program and rising football team?
  19. I like some of the other information Crepea provides about the back-ups. Good stuff... Oregon Ducks center Alex Forsyth questionable, safety Jordan Happle out vs. Colorado by James Crepea of OregonLive
  20. Outstanding post with research, the time taken and the conclusion. THANKS.
  21. A provocative subject for sure, as he showed us progress, even with the errors? Is it Safe to Think Oregon's Offense is Turning a Corner with Anthony Brown at QB? by Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire
  22. Great point and it gives me hope about the future. And so good to see you back, as we will always have a lot to discuss since it won't be long for basketball too!
