At one time....coaches recruited well to Cal. Key defensive players that could have helped us win the 'Natty such as Shaq Thompson went to Cal, so it CAN be done. But the two coaches above are 3-Star Kings of recruiting, and have not shown the juice needed at recruiting, IMHO.

In three years...people would not be happy with Chip Kelly, and this is from the guy who created the videos of his offense watched over two million times. If Chip could recreate what Chip did at Oregon....he would have done it in four years at UCLA. Hire Chip and you will get what I wrote years ago...."eight or nine wins...Mora or less." (Jim Mora was the prior coach they fired who had a 10 win season, and 8-9 win seasons.) They did not improve things with Chip... And the boosters there HATE him, as he has alienated so many people as he did at Oregon. Let's not turn to Oregon re-treads....

Do we value loyalty and get nine win seasons, or do we want MORE and attempt to return to the 'Natty? I do not believe Wilcox has the recruiting chops to take us there, and his Cal roster proves it.

I am a Duck for life, and I have WAY TOO MUCH FUN on the forum as I banter-with-my-buddies. My role is to provide the forum platform and the organizational efforts, and my hope that if enough people come forward to do their part to retain/improve a free forum that enforces decorum like nowhere else....that the OBD forum should be here for the long term. For just two months old--the growth and activity is exciting and leaves me breathless...

(Press Release from Oregon Athletics) EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens announced that head football coach Mario Cristobal informed the university this morning that he has accepted the head football coach position at another university. A nationwide search for the next leader of the Oregon football program is underway. “We appreciate all of Mario’s accomplishments and hard work here at Oregon, and we wish him and his family all the best in their next chapter,” said Mullens. “The University of Oregon is a prestigious academic institution with a football program that is well-positioned for continued success in the future, and the search is underway to find another excellent football coach to lead and support our student-athletes moving forward.” An interim head coach for the Oregon football program will be determined as soon as possible.

We stay calm, as we know precisely how to handle these negotiations...

Thanks. Part of what I am trying to do on this forum is add my knowledge of publishing...to a forum. It has never been done before, and it is working well. Since 75% of those here are not posting, but simply here to be reading the content of news and posts--my rules and protocol are meant to make it easier and more enjoyable for them. I read a ton about "lying," "loyalty," money and commitment, and in the end we all operate in our own self-interests. Mario is, and each one of us would too--you follow your heart and make the best deal you can even while being conflicted. What if Taggart had not been offered his dream job until after four years as Cristobal has been; how would you feel about Willie then? He was only operating in his own self-interest as Brian Kelly, Lincoln Riley, Chip Kelly, etc. have all done. But the coaches are not the only "evil" ones operating out of self-interest; the players will leave in a heartbeat via the portal, as will verbal recruits fade away. Players are just as fickle...no halos here! But wait--how did our Athletic Director treat an Oregon native coach after one bad year, and yet he took Oregon to the 'Natty? No loyalty there! And the way that incredible coaching staff was treated? Nope, no halos up in the athletic department either. As for us fans? We will fire coaches in a heartbeat as well, as yours truly and most of you wanted Helfrich fired so quickly. And who was doing the booing at Autzen this fall? No halos here either... I think we all need to get off our high-horses and acknowledge that every party in these situations operates out of self-interest as we all do. That doesn't mean it is easy and that there are not terrible conflicts and consequences of carrying out our own selfish choices, and Mario will have his too. No matter who the coach is, or the record...I will be a loyal Duck fan no-matter-what. And I am learning to not blame people for acting out of their own self-interest...how about you?

You sir, are a much better sport and a much better man than I'll ever be. Thank YOU for being an example and a reminder to us all...

I just got off the phone with a source who just talked to a prominent player at Oregon...and he does not know of any team meeting taking place at 4:30, and says it is fake news. Above is what everyone is going on...and the player says it is false. (Trust me...if there was a meeting--this player would know about it)
