  1. For a new guy...you are quickly becoming one of my favorite members posting! Love your thoughts and writing...do so often!
  2. THANKS for finding and posting this 81DuckAlum...whew!
  3. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) PORTLAND — Sydney Parrish scored a career-high 26 points and Sedona Prince matched her career best with 22 as the No. 18 Oregon women's basketball team ended its three-game losing streak with a 62-59 win Saturday over Portland at the Chiles Center. With the Ducks still short-handed as Nyara Sabally, Te-Hina Paopao and Endyia Rogers recover from injuries, Parrish stepped up by making 5-of-8 three-pointers and dished out five assists. Prince was 8-of-14 from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds, How It Happened: Parrish and Prince combined for Oregon's first six points as the Ducks took an early 6-2 lead, and a Parrish three-pointer followed by a layup from Ahlise Hurst made it 14-9 late in the first quarter. Prince picked up two fouls in the opening period, and didn't play in the second. That's when Parrish took over, scoring 13 of Oregon's 17 points on 5-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-3 from three-point range. The outburst from Parrish helped the Ducks lead 31-25 at halftime. "That's as good as we've had somebody play; she carried us in that first half," UO coach Kelly Graves said. "Every time they made a run, she seemed to hit a big shot at the right time. I'm really happy for her." Prince avoided more foul trouble after halftime, scoring 12 of Oregon's 17 points in the third quarter. Parrish had three assists in the period and Scherr added two, handling the ball in the absence of Paopao and Rogers through intense pressure by Portland's defense. The Ducks did turn it over five times in the period, but still led 48-41. Threes by Shannon Dufficy and Parrish helped the Ducks jump out to a 56-47 advantage early in the fourth. The Pilots closed the gap with a 5-0 run, and they had a chance to tie after scoring with 7 seconds left and regaining possession almost immediately after a UO turnover, the Ducks' sixth of the quarter and 11th of the half. But a potential game-tying three-pointer missed, and Oregon held on to win. Who Stood Out: Parrish previously had a career high of 18, which she tied by halftime Saturday. Prince bounced back from a one-rebound performance Wednesday against UC Davis by grabbing eight for the Ducks on Saturday. Maddie Scherr scored just three points, but she dished out six assists and grabbed five rebounds while committing just one turnover against the trapping pressure from the Pilots. She was on the bench after fouling out for the final 2:16, during which the Ducks turned it over three times. "I thought Maddie was huge tonight," Graves said. "Unfortunately we didn't have her for the last few minutes, and that hurt. But she did a great job against that pressure." What It Means: The Ducks won for the first time since Nov. 20, the last time either Sabally, Paopao or Rogers played. Graves said Rogers could play in two weeks when the Ducks make a trip to the Midwest, and Paopao and Sabally could return soon after. "The cavalry's coming," Graves said. "… And if we play as hard as we did tonight, we're going to be fine until then." Up Next: The Ducks host Long Beach State on Saturday, Dec. 11., at 2 p.m.
  4. Sorry. Been tied up...he gave me three impressions, 1) the high scoring offense and tempo will remain, 2) Oregon will be tougher in the trenches, and 3) he was absolutely committed to "keeping Justin Herbert upright...no QB running between the tackles." We had just finished the 2017 season with Herbert out for half of it, and that was on everyone's mind. I NEVER would have thought we would see the offense we are seeing now coming away from that meeting.
  5. No sweat. Everybody has up to an hour after posting to go back and edit your post. Click on the three dots in the right corner and then select "Edit" and the Posting Box returns!
  6. Don't forget that we had a great article this week about candidates, (below) and let's hear yours! Seven Offensive Coordinator Candidates for Oregon by Coach Eric Boles of FishDuck You know a good interim coach could be Coach Mike Bellotti?
  7. Everybody reading this take note: What you read above is a reasonable conversation about choices to make due to the virus. DO NOT go further in the COVID discussion, the politics,...anywhere with it. CalBear95...you are new and do not know of how even touching on COVID as a topic and its impact on Oregon football has been destructive on other sites, and requires great diligence on our site to keep it from turning into a brush-fire quickly. That being said....you write extremely well, add a lot to our discussion, you add paragraph-reading spaces so we do not have continuous text so....you are an ideal new member to the OBD forum. WELCOME!
  8. Boy...what a hot mess Oregon has turned into! The swing in a two week span from being No. 3 in the Playoff Rankings to this? Whew!
  9. OK...I am providing some quotes, but not the lame ones about the game. On reports of his future… “I don’t know what you mean when you say someone’s offered (a job). I haven’t talked to anybody. Let’s not create narratives. As we sit here in this press conference, Oregon is working on some stuff for me and that’s what I have right now. That’s the extent of the conversation.” On uncertainty surrounding his future… “I would say if there’s something to report, I will report it. I always have. Over the years, because certain things are put out there or not. Every year our entire staff, whether behind the scenes, whether public or not, we’ve always had different people come for our people, including myself, and how the media treats it and how they choose to posture it, I have no control. As I just mentioned, that’s the extent of it.” On if players were distracted by rumors… “I don’t know what to tell you. I can tell you this, if I had any plans, if I had a decision to make or if I had something to report I would and I wouldn’t keep it one way or the other. OK? Do I expected people to come at me? Yeah, I do. It happens every single year. Is there anything else to report besides that? There’s nothing else to report besides that. When there ever is, if there ever is, I’ll make sure to get it to you as fast as I can.” On if he would listen to another job offer… “I’m not going to get into hypotheticals. We just finished off and we played and coached very poorly and I think you understand I have a job to do. I feel like we’re going in circles with the same answers. You’re going to get the same response.” Remember this fake smile from Taggart when he denied an offer from the state of Florida?
  10. Duckpop22: Humor will forever bond us.
  11. Understood. But THAT is a very interesting video!
  12. Oh Crap! Listen to this short video as he strolls in his backyard SoCal home with the birds tweeting, the sky is blue and it is obviously warm... Remember that he came from Portland... CRAP!
  13. Get over a game? How dare you! Dyer was down! (Duckpop22 and I are friends!)
  14. That is true, between being a muttering-mass-of-protoplasm and too many tasty Oregon Craft Beer IPAs...I made the corrections and THANKS for letting me know!
  15. Normally after a game I copy-and-paste the comments from Cristobal. I am not doing that tonight, and thus we will not have much news Saturday unless it is announcements about the coaches. That game was so bad on so many levels that I will not republish the nonsense coach-speak, or the meek press who will not ask tough questions. And Oregon's own "Pravda" in GoDucks.com? Nope. There are only TWO sites that dare to state the negative as they see it, and that would be John Canzano and us on this site. As long as you stay within our rules--you can write anything, unlike anywhere else. So sorry--I have heard enough, and will not repeat it here. BTW...how much of my article today turned out to be true? Love this community--love you all. We will get through this together, and frankly...we've had a LOT WORSE. A 10-win season does not suck. Charles Media and Photo Credentials...
  16. It looks like I might have a lot more time for BBQing chicken, as I expect the traffic here to fade away in the offseason. I am not a big Mario fan, but I am a big OREGON fan. I and the moderators will always be here to ponder it all...
  17. The truth is....there are very few candidates that can replace a 10 win coach without taking huge risk. But again...let's discuss after the hangover.
  18. OK...now that is "gallows-humor" at it's best. Made me laugh!
  19. No thank you. The magic of that time with Chip cannot be duplicated because the coaches who made it happen are retired. Chip cannot even do what Chip did...at a great place to recruit to in UCLA. I have heard from a number of sources that they hate him down there, as he has angered key boosters in the same manner he did at Oregon. Let's all give this some time and ponder with cooler heads...
  20. We are 10-2 now...and ten wins is great no matter what!
  21. mrspenney....the only negative about your posts is that I wish we would see more of them. You have a great perspective of the program, and I always appreciate your "takes" on a topic. Thanks for posting!
  22. Well, it would take a while! That is a family gathering and what is there will feed about 18 people some of the best BBQ chicken known to mankind. The height of the pit is perfect, so that I can slowly cook it and brown it gradually over an hour and 45 minutes, yet the center is moist and completely done. I am basting butter on a few hot spots on the chicken, although some of the brown color comes from the tasty smoke salt we put on in the beginning and let it cook into the chicken. It is one of the few things I am really good at!
  23. Yep...I'm talking to you OBD forum guests and members! Of all the thousands of pages read on the forum, (over 8,000 yesterday alone) the majority of those on this forum through the day are guests or people simply reading the posts, press releases and news. An older word in the web world describing those who do not post, but read, are lurkers. I never liked the creepy feel of that word, especially when--on this site--these are good people who stopped in, and who are interested in Our Beloved Ducks. The percentages is what surprises me, and over time it has shown that on average 75% of those in the forum are not posting, are not members, but guests who are reading post. Isn't that an incredible number? Three-quarters of those here are not members posting? Whew! Yet that is actually better than the industry average, and I attribute it to our diligence in making people feel safe, thus OBD forum members are more apt to post their opinions. (And I love it) So...if you have a post that disappears, and then you receive an email from you-know-who about a rule violation...it is not just about being nice to each other in our posts. It is for the readers too, because nobody wants to read the nasty stuff that is out there in the rest of the world. When 75% of the people here are simply reading--I want to make it fun for them to do so, and thus they don't have to sort through all the nonsense as they do on other sites. It still blows my mind; roughly 75% of people here are here to read YOUR POSTS, and MY POSTS,...(Yikes!) thus I want to extend all our courtesies to the vast majority who are here to simply read the news and posts. The point of this post is to report it, acknowledge how what we are doing here is to serve you as well and to say THANK YOU for reading and being a part of our unique community of Devoted Duck fans! (P.S. I changed the color of the Pinned Post from Utah Red to Fuchsia to still make it stand out. And no, it is not pink. It is Fuchsia!)
