  1. He is referring to the blow-hard radio broadcaster at KJR in Seattle who always says the most hateful things about Oregon... Dave "Softy" Mahler of KJR
  2. Remember how I wrote about the censorship of FishDuck articles if they were critical (negative) at all? Well, today my article passed their "positive" test and a link to the article was given. While it is nice to have these two Data Aggregators refer my article--it is a shame they do not believe in "Critical Analysis," and only want the sunshine-pumping. Oh well, there is a ton to be happy about! BTW....how do you all like the background photo? All the background colors make it one of the best ever, and note the football is almost at eye-level so that I can get his head and the football lined up. A lot to the selection of the picture and I really love this one.
  3. I completely agree--should have added it because Brown's day was like the great QBs of the past--and he had to be helped and guided to it. I sure there are more blessings I missed, but was at 1,000 words and had to cut it off. But I would love to see other points brought up to be thankful for...
  4. Amen. I think adopting Coach Cristobal's "Go 1-0 this week" fits.
  5. Fantastic research and post--THANK you.
  6. Wow. When Chip left...my short list to hire (and who were HOT at that time) were Mark Helfrich, Rich Rod, Gus Malzahn, and Gary Patterson. All eventually fired..... Whew! Although Rich Rod did not always have a cheery disposition...
  7. I guess I just lost track, but for this many true freshmen to play says a lot about the injuries, but mostly about the level of recruiting done for this most recent recruiting class. This is not something we routinely see at Oregon... Oregon's 2021 Class Continues to Play Big Roles, Few Likely to Redshirt by Erik Skopil of Duck Territory 247
  8. So the Buckeyes are No. 6 in the AP Poll, and Oregon is No. 7, and many people other than Oregon fans are beginning to see the farce... College Football Fans Not Happy With 1 AP Poll Ranking by Matt Hladik of The Spun It is great to see in the article all the support for Oregon's position!
  9. No disagreement here, but if we get shafted later--and even that this conversation is happening is proof that it is ludicrous to play those early blockbuster games. If we lose (like to Auburn in 2018) it gets held against us...and if we win as we did this year....they want to ignore it!
  10. ChicoDuck! Thanks so much for sharing your expertise on this running back....your words are exciting!
  11. I miss my doggies! I used to enjoy how much fun they had on Halloween as they loved the children showing up and the tail wagging through the cape was cute. Abbie, (above) was in my Oregon football instructional videos 10 years ago, and for those who remember her...I wrote a tribute right here that came from my heart. Before Abbie we had a Boxer who just adored children, and when they would show up to trick-or-treat I would have to hold her collar tight or she would charge the children to lick them and play. With the other hand I had to reach into my bag of candy and distribute it among the kids as my right hand/arm held back this loving boxer. One time a sweet little girl, probably only three years old asked me, "why are you holding back your dog?" And I answered, "she is very loving and would knock you over because she wants to lick you, as that is a dog's way of kissing you. She wants to kiss everybody!" Then to the horror of the mother behind, and before I could do anything--this sweet little girl came up to the boxer, held the dog's head in her hands, and then planted a big kiss on the snout of the boxer! It remains one of my most endearing memories of the innocence of children, the love that dogs have for us all and our mutual connection. I am not around the house enough now to have pets, but at times....like Halloween--I sure miss them! This is the boxer that loved everyone and was a wonderful family dog...
  12. We are not there, as fear takes quite a bit in still, IMHO. But we are on that path if we keep doing what we've done in the last two games. Fun post...
  13. Completely agree, and it will be a very intense game.
  14. Huge, huge and huge observation by you and moment for the team. Hope the lesson sticks!
  15. I love the looks of this player, but his touchdown is all on the Offensive Line, as any of the backs could have ran through that massive hole. We cannot forget that Sean Dollar is also good, and he is recovering from injury!
  16. Boy do we need him, and those jump balls are almost impossible to defend! Like the rest of the offense--he appears to be growing and getting better as the season progresses.
  17. We should beat them...but that was true of Stanford too.
  18. DTR was out; freshman QB Garbers played...
  19. Jon Joseph! His 41-17 score was only one point off the actual spread of 24 versus 23 points and his other stats were also closer. Fun for all, and now...they get tougher!
  20. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon football’s game at Washington next Saturday, Nov. 6, will kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT on ABC, the Pac-12 office announced on Saturday night. The No. 7 Ducks improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play on Saturday with a dominant 52-29 win over Colorado in Autzen Stadium. This will be the second 4:30 p.m. start of the season for the Ducks, who will be broadcast on ABC for the third time in five weeks.
  21. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) Question: How did Ty respond to the conversation about putting Anthony back into the game? CRISTOBAL: "The conversation? Well, there's really no conversation to be had. All the sudden, we let a lot of guys play, and it’s a 16 point game. I want to make sure it's a three-score game. Ty’s an excellent player. He’s done some really good stuff. Yeah, he threw an interception today. We don’t get down on our players when they don’t perform to their capabilities. We just find a way to coach them better and come back. Ty is tough, and is an excellent player who will bounce back."
  22. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) Question: Can you walk through the touchdown pass to Troy Franklin with the blitz pickup by Seven McGee? CRISTOBAL: "Yeah, tremendous recognition by Seven. First, the line making the right call. The quarterback knowing he is protected. Seven for identifying the blitzer. We will be all over him about it to make sure that he meets him at the line of scrimmage, you know that any cushion you give up could end up in the quarterback’s lap. I think he ended up grabbing onto Anthony’s leg as he launched the ball. Everyone knew their assignment. Everyone tried to do it at the highest level, and that is a perfect example of ‘Alright, Seven. Next time, this is going to happen an extra yard and a half to the yard closer to the line of scrimmage.’ There won’t be that distraction of a guy wrapped around Anthony’s ankle, and the throw will come out cleaner. And then on the flip side is Troy finding himself open and then going up and pulling that ball down in traffic, because there were lots of hands and bodies over there. Two young guys working with an older guy. We are counting on all of them, so for those guys to actually get real live time together and having success doing so."

  23. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) Question: You had some guys get banged up today. Do you have any updates? CRISTOBAL: "I think that Steve (Stephens) had a soft tissue injury. Verone (McKinley) is fine. Happle did not play today, but we expect him back next week. Forsyth we held out, he is closer. You guys have heard me say that every week, but we are still not quite there. Daymon is fine, it looked like a stinger or something of that nature. It really threw his body around in there. I think he is good. That about sums it up, unless you guys have another one on there." Question: On the offensive line switching spots and needing to be versatile due to injuries… CRISTOBAL: "Walk has been off the charts. TJ (Bass) is very versatile and so is George (Moore). Sometimes when you run certain things schematically - from a man-blocking scheme or double team, gap zone, or pin-pull, you just really see guys do really well. I can’t get into all the specifics of why we move guys and the advantages that it gives us, but we felt today was a really strong move that paid off really well for us. So, we felt that the assessment was a good one."
  24. (From the UO Athletic Press Release) Coach Mario Cristobal: "When it was 45-14, we wanted to play a lot of guys. Guys who not only were backups but guys down the line a little bit that deserve playing time that are going to possibly have to step up and we wanted to let them play. Some of them made some really good plays and some other things we have to fix. Then at the end of the game we just wanted to make sure we closed it out. We wanted to let them play as long as we possibly could and then finish off the game. We put some of our guys back in to make sure we put the game out of reach." Question: What did you think of the defense, especially late in the game? CRISTOBAL: "Well, later on in the game we gave up some points. We were playing a lot of different guys, mixing and matching some parts – which we don’t want to do – and the truth of the matter is when we watch the film and we get with our players we’re not gonna make excuses. ‘Well we took out so and so or so and so wasn’t playing’ – Bologna! We’re not gonna make excuses. We’re going to grade and coach every single person on the team. Whether he's the first guy in or whether he’s the fifth guy in, and our guys will take pride in that. To play here you got to be able to handle the right type of constructive criticism, because when you’re not playing to a certain level it comes with a challenge. And, a challenge is constructive. A challenge comes with a teachable moment – that’s the way we coach. That's the way we approach this, okay? We’re teachers, progression teachers, so that's how we want to approach this. I’m really looking forward to jumping on that film, because I did see a lot of guys that were just inches away from making a big play but all of a sudden - boom - they bust a play that costs us a 25 yard gain, or potential sack from across which - boom - we missed because we lose our balance and body control because our appetite goes through the roof, were about to get a sack and then we failed to realize we've got to come to balance and keep our eyes on those hips, so all those things are great teachable moments that we will jump all over tomorrow and look forward to getting our guys just back to work and getting focused on our next opportunity." I'm OK with it, as players got experience and we still won the game. Your thoughts?
