  1. I am surprised by this...as yes they refer to Mario, but is Miami better than Ole Miss? Kiffin has 10 wins there and they have not had that since...Archie Manning? I think they will really open the wallets to retain him. Is the Hurricane job that much better and is Kiffin the top candidate? 2. I have great respect for the subscription sites for Oregon football, (even if they let their members trash and disparage me) and I generally do not like reporting any inside reports of theirs until a day has passed so their subscribers who pay for immediate access--do get the information first. That being said--one of the sites has reported yesterday that they are not worried in the Athletic Department about Mario leaving for Miami. Why? Because he gets full control of the football program and gets everything he wants in funding for important projects and hires. There are not any "sticking" points for him to demand or leverage for change because...he has what he wants. The one exception is updating his contract to reflect the new reality of what winning coaches are being paid, and apparently that is happening RIGHT NOW, as they are working on it behind the scenes. This is very good news, and although Miami fans bluster quite a bit--the chances of Cristobal leaving after his new Oregon contract is announced is quite low. Rest easy my friends, as I am letting a long breath out too! BTW....check out the fellow in neon behind Mario...that is legendary FishDuck Photographer Tom Corno!

  6. The rumors are that Donte burned bridges with Cristobal when he left...and the terrible negative recruiting against Oregon while at USC has not helped that situation.
  7. This is so superb, as I was trying to figure out what Dye was doing on the touchdown play. His spacing did not look like "pitch-zone" and as he went into the end zone--he was looking back as if he could get a pass? And thus you nailed it. The second example was such a good find....as I wondered at the time if Shough wasn't just faking the run, and then pull up...almost like a jump-pass. But no--you figured out that he was truly reading a defender and making his decision based upon that. Outstanding research and conclusion Coach Boles--thanks!
  8. (Press Release from Oregon Athletics) EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon made plays at both ends down the stretch to hold off UC Riverside in a 71-65 nonconference victory Wednesday at Matthew Knight Arena. After the Highlanders pulled ahead 56-55 with 9:10 to play, Eric Williams Jr. made a three-pointer to get the Ducks back in front. Moments later Williams hit another bucket that was followed by two from Will Richardson and a three-point play by De'Vion Harmon, which all came amid a series of UO defensive stops in which UC Riverside could only muster desperation three-point attempts late in the shot clock. The win was Oregon's second straight following consecutive losses in the Maui Invitational. The Ducks shot better than 60 percent combined in wins over Montana and UC Riverside to put the previous week's offensive woes behind them. "We needed a win, and we found a way to get it," UO coach Dana Altman said. "Lotta things to improve upon, but there's gonna be those games where you just gotta scratch out a win." How It Happened: Two days after making 12 straight shots early in the first half against Montana, Oregon opened Wednesday's game by connecting on eight straight field-goal attempts. The hot start was capped by consecutive threes from Quincy Guerrier and Richardson, putting the Ducks up 21-13. Oregon struggled to keep UC Riverside away from the rim, however, as the Highlanders scored 14 straight points in the paint to stay within striking distance at 21-17. Jacob Young scored seven in a row for the Ducks as they extended their lead to 32-24, but UC Riverside countered Oregon's 65.4 percent first-half shooting with 63 percent shooting of their own to trail just 42-37 at halftime. "We're just still not there yet," Williams said of the overall defensive effort. "We gave up 42 points in the paint and had one blocked shot. … I think we'll get better as the season goes on, but we can't keep giving up points like that." The Highlanders rallied just after halftime to tie the game 49-49, and though Rivaldo Soares quickly regained the lead for Oregon with a three-pointer, UC Riverside managed to take the lead at 56-55. The next UO possession saw the shot clock dwindling down before Williams created space for himself and knocked down a three-pointer, kicking off Oregon's late-game surge. It was 59-58 when Williams took a pass in the corner, drove the baseline and then cut into the lane before putting up a turnaround jump shot for a 61-58 lead. Richardson scored the next two buckets for Oregon, and Harmon completed a three-point play with 1:52 left for a 68-63 lead. Three times in that stretch, UC Riverside was unable to create an open shot at its own end, ultimately throwing up three-pointers that missed the rim entirely for shot-clock violations. The Ducks continued to play tough defense in the final two minutes, and they knocked down enough free throws down the stretch to hang on for the win. Who Stood Out: Richardson followed up his 18-point performance Monday against Montana with a team-high 17 on Wednesday, plus five assists. N'Faly Dante finished with 12 points and five rebounds, and Williams added 11 points with eight boards. Harmon scored nine and Guerrier added eight as the Ducks leaned heavily on their starting five. What It Means: Coming off a disheartening two weeks of road games, Oregon seemed to recapture some momentum this week at home. That will be put to the test Sunday in the conference opener. "The competition we've faced has been pretty good, we just haven't handled the adversity well," Altman said. "But conference play is different — guys are more locked in, people know you a little better. So our guys will have to get ready." Up Next: The Ducks host Arizona State in their Pac-12 opener Sunday (4 p.m., Pac-12 Network).
  9. Boy...I was hoping to see a throwback color combination of yellow pants and the yellow helmet. The one good thing I can say about the Eggshell uniforms? We won in them! And good catch Southwest Duck, as I was wrapped up in something else--I so appreciate people posting articles and news.
  10. Not viable. We would have to grow to 10-15 times larger than we are now, IMHO.
  11. "Maybe the only thing I can do...is take everything he's got...and he's has to have the heart to stand in front of me..." (A minute video) Speaking of music....the scene after--he goes for a drive (below) with the song, "There is No Easy Way Out" which is superb, with wonderful flashback moments--thanks for the great memories Darren!
  12. Fantastic. It works to take us to Facebook and view the videos from there, and THANKS for posting it. I sure hope Coach Graves gets the "go-ahead" from the NCAA soon, and it would interesting to see this player on the floor.
  13. I dumped them in the past because it was so little revenue and more hassle than I wanted. But the numbers of the last month do bring that issue back to the forefront...but even then--they pay very little. It is SO NICE to have a clean site with no pop-up ads or videos. Or no blaring ads for male enhancement or Ukrainian brides on the side margin. And I have no control over what they post for ads...
  14. Adrian: "You CAN'T Win!" Rocky: "Oh Adrian...everybody knows Adrian tells the truth..."

  16. A better start than I ever could have imagined after only two months! I will NOT do this every month, but thought I would report this now, and leave it up for a few days and then take it down. In November of 2020, we had posts, or comments below articles on FishDuck. In November of 2021 we have posts of all topics in the Our Beloved Ducks forum. But the important thing is that we keep this forum "polite and respectful," as every post is read and the four moderators and I are there to protect you. I want to see all opinions on every topic, and will protect those with the minority opinion unlike anywhere else. So many people are realizing it is safe, and now are posting for the first time. Join them! It is a ton of time and work, but I am thrilled with the results and I just love this community of passionate Oregon fans. As you know, there are no ads, so I get no compensation for pageviews, and there is no compensation for posts --and the goal is...to build a unique community that is safe from the nastiness of the rest of the world. 17. The Mens Basketball team takes on UC Riverside tonight at 7:00 PM on the Pac-12 Network. The local paper listed Donte as a starting, and wrote about how Will Richardson and Dana Altman had a heart-to-heart to get some things going again on offense. Dana said it was his fault...that he did not get Will in the spots in the offense so he can be aggressive! Fun to watch this...
  18. I am not positive, but I believe they have male players to practice against--not on the Mens team, but among the staff? I am guessing--anyone else know?
  19. This forum is better when UtahDuck is posting often! Great to see you!
  20. Quietduck...you framed the question well--to get more information without offending. For a first post--you get us! Please post often and WELCOME!
  21. Darren, I echo how I loved to read that and that movie hits the profile of so many that read here. I can still hear Mick's gravely voice saying, "he'll knock you into tomorrow, Rock." I know you had that quote in the article, but I loved it. And the music! The next movie against the Russian had some epic music in it as well. So true...it is such a fascinating game to consider... Try to watch this short tribute to the move and NOT get fired up!
  22. A couple of articles are stating this today such as this one from The Score that seem pretty certain, and... Oregon Expected to Lose OC Joe Moorhead After Pac-12 Title Game by Matt Zemek of Trojan Wire
  23. To clarify for certain to all: Oregon starts three receivers each game, and Williams is one of those three-- is what I attempted to convey.
  24. Devon Williams is the third starting receiver. One is the X receiver, one is the Y, and one is the slot. Sorry for the confusion.
