This mid-week set of games on Tuesday and Wednesday are a good example of what Coach Waz is trying to schedule. GCU has won the WAC conference in recent years, is projected to be a 30 game winner, and is a front-runner to win the WAC this year. They beat Rutgers three times out of a four game series, and last week swept Texas Tech three games, and beat Pepperdine to get to 11-4 for the season. They are putting up a decent pitcher at a 4.50 ERA against "The Pride of Sherwood," Ian Umlandt, who has an ERA under 1.00 thus far this season. We Gotta Win as Many as Possible! Dominic Hellman is on base again!

You have the worst schedule, and we have a "favorable"schedule to break in a new QB. Only a one-year break, but you need to talk to the SEC, as being penalized for your success, and what you have given to by your conference is WRONG.

Thus why we need to end up in the top eight to get both a Regional and Super-Regional at home. Yep, it is a tall order but...

Losing at the end of the season would benefit us?

Is looking at seating capacity the right metric to look at here? I think 18,000 on average showing to watch a so-so Ohio State team is pretty darn good. In fact I think most of those are pretty good, especially 15,000 for Penn State? When you consider that Oregon has had a ton of disappointing seasons, and this year was certainly a yo-yo...a 12,000 average is fine. It could be a ton worse, and if we string together some winning seasons into the post-season--you will see those averages rise. Attendance follows winning, thus I am counting the blessings we have with that considering the underperforming product on the floor.

First question...I certainly think so, as right now Oregon leads the B1G Conference standings after the first weekend, and I believe we will be a 40 game winner this year--or much better. Second question...I agree that they have to be dominant, but the good news is that although we are in a weak conference....both Oregon and Oregon State enjoy a national respect from how we did in the Pac-12. Even if we have a weak RPI later--as long as we perform in the Playoffs later--we will continue to receive that respect. Coach Waz's goal has always been Omaha, and winning a 'Natty. We have been getting better each year, and have deserved the national respect after finishing No. 12 in the nation the last two years. So if we do well in winning, I believe we will get a mulligan with the weak conference. But we have to confirm it in the Playoffs... Anson Aroz

There are like five Baseball polls out there, and the Baseball America rankings had the Ducks the lowest last week among them at No. 15, but has moved them up to No. 12 this week. Oregon is right on the heels of Beavis, who are at No. 11. The rankings I consistently follow whether good or bad for us is D1Baseball, who have Oregon at No. 9 for this week, up from No. 10 last week. Of course Beavis is a nose ahead at No. 8, and the teams meet in a four-game series in late April. Oregon has NEVER swept USC in Los Angeles, so this was pretty noteworthy. Yet I will say that they were not quite as tough as I anticipated. Yes, we barely won some games, but the Trojans made some errors that were the difference in the game, and frankly--we won't see that against teams that will be in Omaha. Bottom line is we need to improve and there IS upside--a lot left. The two pitching concerns I had were primarily with Grayson Grinsell and Ryan Featherston. Both pitched well this weekend, as Grinsell only gave up two runs in five innings, and frankly--not his fault as there were fielding errors that day due to the slick surface. Ryan Featherston saved a bases-loaded situation yesterday, and was actually the closer for the ninth inning. It was a fantastic gut-call, and Coach Waz has bigger stones than I do--putting him in with the game on the line. Tremendous for him and for the team... The offense was not as strong as prior weekends because again....it is better competition. But I feel that our pitching is improving, as one example Jason Reitz, got over his initial jitters from prior series, and pitched four scoreless innings on Friday. Collin Clarke on Saturday, and Will Sanford on Sunday gave us great starting pitching....and they look to have more upside. We have a shot at Omaha! Will Sanford getting a big stop...

Upon hearing that the Oregon Baseball team swept USC, the fans on one of their forums were gnashing their teeth, and one of them wrote... "Oregon owns us in baseball, basketball and football. Sad day...and swept us in the BIG 10 Track Championship on the Mens and Womens side last Saturday." It makes me so SAD!

Walsh is making MUCH better decisions at the plate, and it getting on base!

5-3 Ducks at the end of the seventh inning. Some great hitting by Oregon's Jacob Walsh and Maddox Molony, and Meckna was replaced by transfer Julian Hernandez on the mound. Then, Ryan Featherston was brought in the two outs and bases-loaded and got the fly-ball out to save the inning. Whew!

3-3 after six innings. Damn...it was going so well, and then the Trojans hit a two-run homer off Sanford. He was replaced by true freshman Michael Meckna, but damage was done. Let's go Ducks!

3-0 Ducks after five innings. Coach Waz stated in the pregame interview that the Trojans have some very good relievers, and we are seeing that as the Ducks are having a hard time cracking them. But Sanford went 1-2-3 again, and I wonder what Oregon's pitching coach, Hawk, is going to do. Sanford's pitch count is at 84, but he is looking good. How built up is his arm? Take a chance with him keeping it going or with the bullpen? Will Sanford last week...

3-0 Ducks after four innings, as Oregon starter on the hill, Will Sanford, continues to befuddle the USC batters. His pitch count is high, but I expect to see him out there for the fifth inning. I love how Oregon implemented two sacrifice flies to move and score!

2-0 Ducks after three innings. Sanford continues to get strikeouts for Oregon, while USC replaced their starter, and is on their second reliever already.

2-0 Ducks after two innings. Will Sanford has been superb on the mound, and Oregon got the bats going!

Game summary will be at the end of the thread later! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Today is a big day for Oregon's true freshman pitcher Will Sanford, as he is now an official weekend starter for the B1G conference season. He has been impressive thus far with a low 2.19 ERA, and both Coach Waz and the players say that we have not yet seen his best stuff. The opposing USC pitcher has an ERA over 6.00, but you know how Baseball is; he could have a lights-out day, while the freshman gets the jitters--who knows? But it is a big test as he has edged out Jason Reitz as the No. 3 pitcher for the moment, and this is his chance to show everyone that he belongs against a good conference foe. (Reitz was fantastic on Friday in relief with four scoreless innings) Let's Go Ducks!

It doesn't matter how many wins we have or they have...beating the Huskies in any sport is sweet. Go Ducks!
