Is There a Culture Problem Within Oregon Football?
Boy...at times I say "yes," there is a culture problem. But then at recruiting time I say, "heck-no!" There is the experience factor of not just how many games you have played and coached, but how many BIG games. That 2014 team was mentally hardened from all the huge TV games, Rose Bowls, BCS Bowls, massive away games in packed stadiums with Herbie and Chris Fowler announcing. That team was filled with players who were used to everyone's best shot, and were accustomed to the bright lights and the big impact of the game. By contrast, the players and coaches of 2021 have more experience losing or playing poorly in games they were expected to win....than actually playing in big games. Yes they were in a Rose Bowl...but that was two years ago and a major block of the players putting in major PT have come to the Ducks since that game. The "being-the-hunted," and calloused to BIG GAMES is a growth factor within the program, and we are about to get a report card!

Astounding, Unreal and Impossible Numbers
My FishDuck Friends, I promise to not do this again until after the first of the year. I keep bringing this up because it is so incredible... Since we made a change back to comments below articles on March 17th, we have had a total of 5,841 comments, now since we started up the forum we have 132 posts already through the end of September 30th. The total between the two is 5,973 or just short of 6,000 comments and posts. And we've only had two posts deleted. On three other Oregon sites out there--I have been heavily criticized for having an intrusive, demanding and constraining method of moderating comments. Yet we have had fewer objectionable posts in six months on both FishDuck sites than all three other Oregon sites will have in one thread. As I've maintained--the problem is not the rules as hundreds of people here easily adapt to them; the problem with a few is their behaviors. Their primary objection in the end? They simply want free license to denigrate others without any consequences, ... and they are free to do that every other site other than this one. Perspective? Someone said to me, "Charles, two deletions is less than 1%!" No, a 1% deletion rate would be 60 posts removed and we've only had two. One-tenth of 1% would be six posts removed and again--we only had two. So what is this...our deletion rate is between three and four one-hundredths of 1%? Now this won't hold as we add new people who go through the same adaption period that you and I did...but it speaks again to the unique community we have here, and the miracle on the web that exists on FishDuck and the Our Beloved Ducks Forum. Tell others to join our GREEN REFUGE as we are part of something special....

Quick Start: Two Cool Features to Know!
No sweat. I am not "tech-intuitive," meaning that once somebody shows me how to do something, then I can write down the steps and do the simple clicks. But I cannot figure anything out on my own, thus not "tech-intuitive," but "tech-impaired." I know many others are the same, thus why I want to offer directions unlike any other forum out there. (After the developer shows me how!)

Quick Start: Two Cool Features to Know!
The first one is the "Reading Markers" above. When you come back to the forum...you will see dots and stars to the left of titles. Let's say when you left you had read nine posts in a thread, and now there 17 posts. Click on the dot or star and it will take you right to where you left off reading! Very cool! It cuts the scrolling time down, and the time wasted trying to recall where you left off. Want to clear all the dots and stars and know that you have read all you want of all the threads posted? Just click on the box (red arrow above) to Mark Forum as Read, and it will clear all the dots and stars and when you return...only the newest since you left will appear. Cool!

Thibs Full-Go for Stanford, Swinson Out, and Dorlus?
Some media sources are reporting that Kayvon Thibodeaux will be at 100% for tomorrow, although I wonder if he truly is when I saw him limp off the field against Arizona. Bradyn Swinson is out until Cal, since there is a bye week after this game, and somebody told me that Brandon Dorlus is hurt and out? Anyone heard anything? A healthy Thibs will change this game... In the "Repository" drop-down menu at the top is Chile Duck's depth chart that he keeps updated. Very handy...

Is There a Culture Problem Within Oregon Football?
That is a wonderful article David, giving us some great ponder-points concerning this team. It is a youth problem, because even when underclassmen step forward to be leaders--they can set a wrong example with inexperienced judgement. The flip-side is the benefit when so many of these talented players are playing in their third year, and have the experience and judgement, as we should have the full leadership on a team that is needed.

Best Season Start in 40 Years!
(Press Release from Oregon Athletic Communications) BERKELEY, Calif. — The Oregon soccer program is off to its best start in 40 years after the Ducks posted their fourth consecutive shutout Thursday, a 2-0 victory at California. After going winless in the program's first 11 trips to Cal, the Ducks have now won two straight on the road against the Golden Bears. Oregon followed a 1-0 win this past spring with Thursday's victory, which included a first-half own-goal and was capped by the first career collegiate goal from Anna Phillips in the second half at Edwards Stadium. Goalkeeper Leah Freeman tied her own program record by recording her fourth straight shutout and the Ducks improved to 6-0-4 on the season. That's the best start for Oregon since the 1981 team was 9-0-1, and the Ducks will look to keep it rolling Sunday at Stanford. "I think we really came together as a team, and it just sets us up for the game on Sunday," said Phillips, a center back who scored off a set piece in the 55th minute Thursday. "We know it's gonna be a tough game, but we're setting ourselves up well for it." Notable: Freeman's shutout was the 11th of her career, tying her for fifth in UO history. … Cortez notched her fourth assist of the season, matching Zoe Hasenauer's team-leading total. … Hasenauer had two shots to reach 142 in her career, tied for sixth in UO history with current Portland Thorns forward Marissa Everett. … Oregon is unbeaten in 12 straight games extending back to last season, the longest streak for the program since 1980-81. Up Next: The Ducks play at Stanford on Sunday (1 p.m., Pac-12 Network).

Boundary Safety
By the end of the season last year--no doubt that Hill was a stud. He's working his way out of the doghouse, and I like your thoughts. He doesn't have the "guns" of a typical defensive back...

Cool Uniform Combo at Stanford for the Ducks!
OK look...I LOVE that uniform we wore at Ohio State, and I especially love the wings/stripes on the helmet. Now for Stanford--we have the green pants! And this is the first time I've posted a Tweet since the forum returned, and it turns out it was pretty easy!

Phil Knight’s NIL company
Whoa! That looks powerful, and what college would have the depth of experience in marketing than Oregon? Duckdude...thanks for bringing this to us, and you are quite right; this is incredible for recruiting, as the Ducks are leveraging their expertise.

ARE MARIO AND MOORHEAD MESHING?
Amen, as I feel that vibe too. I can just hope for the best at this point because we do not know all the complicating variables in the locker room and coaches suite.

DeRuyter's Daughter is crushing it!
It does not mention if they are related, and I cannot help but wonder if Cristobal already has this in place and Michigan is simply catching up?

Ending or Changing the Targeting Rule?
It is natural for a ball carrier to lower his head when he sees a defender projecting at him. Thus a tackle meant with the defender driving his head into the chest or shoulder of the ball carrier ends up being helmet-to-helmet. I agree with Duckpop22, in that this is evolving, but I like how David brought this up for discussion.

A SAFE Place to Post--Such a Relief!
Oh Duckpop22....you know how to make me laugh-out-loud as few can. And those Escalades came from all those FishDuck profits...right? 😝

Beavers or Huskies and WHY?
Oregon State hosting Washington at 6:00 PM on Saturday? Who do you want to win, and who do you think will win? I am torn on this, as a Washington loss may seal-the-deal for the Mistake-by-the-Lake, (thanks Annie!) and I do not want to see a great coach at Montlake. Yet I would love to see the Beavers beat them because...the Huskies losing always makes me smile! Those who know me would laugh when I say it is "good-or-good." Your thoughts?
