Stanford Game Prediction Contest!
You know the drill; give me who wins, the score, the number of turnovers that Oregon creates, the number of sacks that Oregon records and the number of Oregon passing yards. I'll go first... Oregon wins, 45-17, 3, 3, 240 yards. Turnovers could be a key again!

DUCKS LOOK TO EXTEND UNBEATEN STREAK
My friends, we are not going to have tons of posts about "other" sports often, but when they are excelling as the No. 11 Womens Volleyball team and now this Soccer team--we gotta feature it on occasion. Cristobal would love the way these women play, as they play tough defense and thus are unbeaten in this season! KEY STORYLINES • The Ducks are undefeated through their first nine games of the season (5-0-4) for the first time since 1981. • Dating back to last season, Oregon is unbeaten in its last 11 games (6-0-5). That is the second-longest streak in program history, behind only a 21-match unbeaten streak (17-0-4) over the course of the 1980 and 1981 seasons. • Oregon has scored 18 goals in 9 games in 2021. Contrast that to last season when the Ducks found the net 12 times in 16 games. • Last Friday, Oregon shutout No. 3 UCLA in a 0-0 draw in Los Angeles. It was the first time the Bruins had been shutout at home in more than three years. Leah Freeman (goalkeeper) and Chai Cortez (defender) were named Pac-12 players of the week. • Oregon notched several milestones versus the Bay Area schools a season ago. The Ducks won for the first time at Berkeley (1-0), defeated No. 3 Stanford for the first time ever in the first meeting of the year in Eugene (2-1) and shutout the Cardinal for the first time (0-0) in a game played at The Farm. Oregon went undefeated on the Bay Area trip for the first time ever. • The Ducks and goalkeeper Leah Freeman have four shutouts in the last five matches. Freeman ranks second in the conference and 17th nationally with a 0.45 goals against average. The Berkeley, Calif., native also ranks second in the conference and 16th nationally in shutouts with five. That is just two shy of the UO single-season record of seven. (Information and picture courtesy of GoDucks.com) The Ducks will face California at 7 p.m. on Thursday and No. 7 Stanford at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both matches will be on Pac-12 Network.

We Gotta PASS this Test: The Game-Plan for Stanford?
My friends, everyone knows that the Cardinal are weak at run-defense, while the Ducks are weak in the Passing Offense. It makes sense to me, (if I was David Shaw) to pack the box against Oregon...get eight defenders in there to bottle up the Oregon rushing attack. Force the Ducks to beat you through the air with a QB who is barely completing half his passes, of which almost none that stretch the field and who have receivers who are not getting separation? Conversely, Oregon needs to come out passing to get the box count to normal, and then bulldoze them with CJ Verdell, (not Brown!) as they used to do so frequently to us. Thoughts on this my friends? We have tight-ends who can challenge Jacob Breeland's numbers for getting open and making the catch!

Kelly Graves Lands a 6'7" Player for 2022!
Kennedy Basham from Phoenix verbally committed to Oregon after turning down Arizona and UCLA (yeah!) in deciding to come to Eugene. They interviewed her over at Duck Territory, and it came down to the relationship she felt with the team, but in particular Coach Graves. She is good friends with another player verbally committed to Oregon, thus some team chemistry is working at several levels!

So, Mario Has Been Doing Pretty Well With Recruiting.
If we stay on this path--we could be in the Top-10 again! Kind of a cool poster on the telecast the other night of Anthony Brown...

The Oregon Offense: The New Wide Power Read

Not interested, USC
Isn't that the BEST answer Mario could have given? Just chillin' with the players after a Pac-12 Championship....

2021: The Year Of College Football Chaos
We are only three weeks into the 2021 college football season, and already it is proving to be a chaotic year. The perennial top teams have all been challenged to date. Alabama escaped Florida with a narrow victory, Georgia Tech gave Clemson a scare, and Oklahoma barely survived a game against Nebraska — and this was only last weekend. In ... The Oregon Offense: The New Wide Power Read
The Oregon Ducks have introduced quite a few new plays to their offense in the first quarter of the 2021 season. One of those plays has been used to great affect including two touchdowns against the Ohio State Buckeyes, is what I’m calling the Wide Power Read; a twist on the classic Power Read. The Power Read, or Inverted Veer, ... Read More Source View the full article

Anthony Brown Is Better Than You Think
We need to have a conversation about Anthony Brown. The very mention of his name elicits a broad spectrum of opinions. On one hand, the sixth-year quarterback has clear limitations as a passer, as evidenced by his mediocre-at-best 59.7 percent completion percentage, and the fact that Oregon’s passing offense ranks in the bottom half of the country. When comparing his ... Read More Source View the full article

Ducks Must Avoid the Big Letdown
Arizona in 2018. Arizona State in 2019. Cal and the Beavers in 2020. All games in which the Ducks were the better team but did not show up to play and lost. If ever there was a season to go undefeated in the Pac-12, this would be it. Quite simply, the conference stinks, while the Ducks are ascending into becoming ... Monday Analysis: FishDuck Facts, Video and Usual Blusterings
This 2021 Oregon football team is unique among all the Duck teams I’ve followed over the years because of all the mistakes, the injuries and yet the incredible promise of extreme upside that awaits the fans. I have not witnessed such a talented team that has … so far to go in terms of its potential. Are the Ducks No. ... Read More Source View the full article

Oregon Football: Ducks Win Again, But Fans Keep Bellyaching
Here’s a hot take: There are WAY too many Oregon “fans” kvetching on social media. Change my mind. Granted, expectations were high for the No. 4 Oregon Ducks’ (3-0) return to Autzen Stadium after winning arguably the biggest game in program history by defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes (2-1) at the Horseshoe, 35-28. After all, the Ducks had an FCS ... Read More Source View the full article

Stony Brook GameDay: Who Do You Want to See the Most?
We hate these games like Stony Brook, and we love them–right? We want to see tougher games against worthy opponents, yet we want to see the young-guns play and watch their development–hence our dilemma as fans with games such as this one. I know many look at it as a way to “get-things-right” and to “correct errors,” but I hardly ... Read More Source View the full article

Oregon’s Victory Is a Win For the Alliance
Oregon’s victory over Ohio State last Saturday was not only a major win for the Oregon Ducks but also a massive win for the Alliance between the Pac-12, ACC and B1G. One of the biggest problems with the Alliance has been the lack of a premier program from the Pac-12. The B1G has Ohio State, and the ACC has Clemson, ... Read More Source View the full article

Is CJ Verdell Poised for an Offensive Takeover?
In case you missed the biggest win for Our Beloved Ducks since the Rose Bowl in 2019, CJ Verdell and the entire offense had an absolutely stellar day running the ball against an elite Ohio State defense. Ducks, Cristobal Answer Nagging Questions: Are the Ducks for Real?
Oregon, a 14-point (or more) underdog, confidently entered the storied Ohio State ‘Shoe that was packed with 100,489 fans hungry to see the Buckeyes earn their tenth-straight victory over what many assumed were the usual bunch of Northwest patsies who have never defeated OSU. Bill Walton's Final Four/Five Prediction
Look, I am not a big fan of his style, but he is an advocate of the "Conference of Champions" and some of his stuff can be memorable. I would bet that "Eugene-from-Eugene" will stick in the NBA... I gotta salute him.... (he does make me laugh on occasion)

Was Ionescu for Graves what Mariota was for Helfrich?
I've been wondering about this, as I just heard another Duck fan chew on my ear over the phone about the Womens Basketball team. He has been critical of the coaching, and some of his complaints have been in the comments here as well. Nobody really knew what kind of head coach Mark Helfrich was in 2013 and 2014....because Marcus Mariota was here. The other players so respected him that they did their roles and all benefited....in spite of Helfrich. Then when Mariota left....the team fell apart almost immediately in 2015 and fully flat-lined in 2016 as Helfrich lost the team when Marcus was gone. Was Sabrina Ionescu the same for Kelly Graves?

Thank You Mr. FishDuck!
Thank you Santa Rosa Duck, as I've given a hint in the post right here, as I and the writers of FishDuck are not going away. I have created an article to be published on Sunday morning, and in my research for the article--I decided to watch the Pac-12 Championship game again and was blown away at what I did not see before. We may not need the Pistol anymore! More on that in a month and over the spring and summer. Always fun stuff to discuss and the comment section below articles over at the FishDuck Article blog will be back up tomorrow morning.
