Daily article: "Fiesta Bowl GameDay: Winning Hinges on Unusual Questions"
I like this comparison, but to me ... Ernie would have a good year, then a .500 year, and then a losing year and that is what got him fired. Mario has coaching faults, but not as deep as Ernie, IMHO. What is so frustrating is how all the tools are there, and whether Mario can allow it to happen? Jon...I am not Eeyore; I state the issues, but always am going to look for the bright-side in the end. It might be ''how I'm spinning it in my mind," such as in this article, or it simply might be that be that he will learn after a few more painful losses. But I do not give up hope, as I am a devoted Duck fan who wants to cheer it all and ponder the fine points as you and so many do here. This is the kind of run-defense we need today!

Whoa! Changes in Fiesta Bowl Starting Line-ups!
Defense: Austin Faoliu (No. 99) has been replaced in the starting line-up at defensive tackle by Brandon Dorlus, No. 97. (I do not know why....) Not good for a senior in his last game! Offense: As we feared, the Mountain-of-a-Man, Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu No. 71 is not in the starting line-up. The guards are No. 56 TJ Bass and No. 53 Ryan Walk, and the tackles are No. 74 Steven Jones and No. 77 George Moore. While all are good--Mala was responsible for a lot of crushing blocks this season, and I hope he is still able to play! And now just before game-time we hear that CJ Verdell is out! We need great defense like this day!

Basketball Wins: Your Reactions?
Men: I loved how they posted up Eugene "O" and even at a half-foot shorter-he is hard to stop. I am concerned about rebounding versus the great teams with this small line-up, but love the energy and flow they bring. The win over Cal was such a deceptive final score as it was only a three point lead with 5:22 left, yet won by 12. Duarte hitting some big threes pushed us over, but it indicated to me that Oregon is not a superior team, but one that will have to scrap for their victories. Women: Isn't it fun to watch the growth of the freshmen? To see Watson getting better due to the minutes with Sabally out, (foul trouble) was great to see. An explosive second quarter built a lead that remained through the game...

Fiesta Bowl GameDay: Winning Hinges on Unusual Questions
Say it, and say it loud: 2020 Pac-12 Champions! With as bad a year as this could be in so many ways, Our Beloved Ducks still pulled off a conference championship among so many unforeseen challenges? Yes, Washington fans assert that Oregon backed into the Championship game, but only because they backed out of a rivalry game with Oregon due to ... Read More Source View the full article...

Fiesta Bowl Predictions Thread!
Get your prediction in by the 1:00 PM start, and I going with a 37-35 Oregon victory where we actually have a double-digit point lead, but nearly blow it with our "Prevent-Offense" (thanks 30Duck!) in the last ten minutes of the game. What say you? We need to do a ton of this!

Is there any unit Oregon has as good as the units we’ve seen tonight?
Mike....I suspect you may have some comments, some discussion to my article tomorrow for GameDay. Did Ohio State win because they were tough, or because they were smart?

Shough Faces Make-or-Break Fiesta Bowl
It has only lasted for six games, but the Tyler Shough era at Oregon is in serious jeopardy of reaching an abrupt end. Fans had high expectations for the sophomore quarterback entering the 2020 season. All indications were that he had the talent and potential to pick up right where Justin Herbert left off, especially with a better and more ... Read More Source View the full article...

Ducks Announce Uniform Combo for Fiesta Bowl!
I love the yellow/white away uniform, as it resembles an old look I loved, but still has a modern emphasis... Danny O'Neil and the Oregon Offense in the early 90s...

WBB What role will Sedona Play?
A crushing blow to the season, as not only was she a good rebounder, but she could really pass well both outside to the three-point sniper, but also inside for back-side layups. Mallard, THANKS for posting this and any news about football, mens/womens basketball, softball and even a little baseball. We invite everyone to post news and offer your opinion on it as Mallard has done with this example.

Mariota as Starting QB is "Wait-and-See," says Jon Gruden
Annie! So great to see you here, as so many of the "gang" are slowly migrating over. Gosh it would be cool to have both on the West Coast like that... One of my favorite photos of him because of the colorful background and the classic fall "golden-haze" color of sunlight. And of all things--this was the Fresno State game where the other quarterback was....wait for it....Derek Carr!

Mariota as Starting QB is "Wait-and-See," says Jon Gruden
This short article discusses the final game of the season coming up for the Raiders where they do not have much to play for, so why not start and play Mariota? On one hand-Gruden has to remain loyal to Carr, but if they want to trade Marcus-showcasing his talents might bring more value? It is an interesting discussion to ponder, and frankly--I think he should go where he has the best opportunity to play and succeed. Who has a great team in the NFL, but needs a good QB to jumpstart it? If he is going to be a back-up, I'd rather he be at San Francisco and be the back-up there since they run a lot of what we ran at Oregon when he was with the Ducks. Thoughts?

Two Oregon Plays in Top 50 Best Fiesta Bowl Highlights
The Fiesta Bowl has announced today via press release that they are celebrating the 50 years of the Fiesta Bowl with the top 50 plays over their history. On this list, we see that Steve Smith is listed in 2002 because of a Fiesta Bowl-record-setting three interceptions. Yet in another release they have the 79 yard bomb of Joey Harrington to Samie Parker listed as well. What puzzles me is how the touchdown by Maurice Morris falling on the back of a Colorado player and maintaining his balance and then sliding off and running for the TD is not listed. You don't see that every day! The video below will start right at the spot and you can see the touchdown again. The Harrington-Parker TD is at the 4:21 mark... Rooting for 50/50?? (Shough-Brown)
I am with you on this OC, (and great to see you posting, WELCOME) although if one gets a hot hand--staying with him makes sense. GREAT observation and memory David. I should think there are quite a few plays via the Wildcat or simply a shotgun where having two experienced quarterbacks on the field could really stress a defense! BTW, Everyone....notice how: --I just did single space by hitting the "Enter" or "Return" and the "Shift" key at the same time. --I was able to bring just a sentence of the original post as a quote. How? I highlighted the sentence or sentence fragment and a little box appears when you are done that has the word "Quote" in it. Click on that box and the shorter quote appears in your post. --I was able to bold the quotes just I can anything in my post. For more directions (unlike any other site) go to right here for using the Posting Box; everything is easy and just a couple of clicks, but I did not know the steps and now I do and have passed them along to all of you! I might be going a little crazy with using all the new features...but once you know how it is fun!

How to keep players from opt-ing out of bowl games for the NFL prep time.
We have already discussed this subject at length, and while I don't mind doing it again--I would rather focus on the bowl game for the next two days, and haggle about the players getting paid in the long off-season when there is nothing else to discuss. Suffice it to say that for one of the few times--I disagree with my friend BigDucksFan, in the biggest way possible. Let's not get off in these weeds yet... My thanks.

Fiesta Bowl Ducks are NOT the Odds-Man Out…
OK, the Wizard’s crystal ball has suffered a few cracks since the Wizard went public. I’m starting to feel odd, fellows. Mr. FishDuck called on me to come forth with my picks. Since coming out of the dark, I have gone 2-3 in week one and 2-2 this last week. Apparently, I do better as a mushroom? In the dark, ... Read More Source View the full article...

Oregon Extends Contract Of Kelly Graves
EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens announced today that the University has reached an agreement on a contract extension with head women's basketball coach Kelly Graves. The extension runs through the 2028-29 season, and the incremental increases are funded through private athletic gifts. In his seventh season with the Ducks after being named the program's head coach on April 7, 2014, Graves owns a record of 162-54 (.750) and has led Oregon to three consecutive Pac-12 regular-season championships as well as two conference tournament championships in the last three years. "Kelly Graves has built a tremendous culture and family atmosphere within Oregon women's basketball program that has created a first-class experience for our student-athletes," said Mullens. "He and his staff have elevated the standard in our program to consistently competing for and winning Pac-12 championships while also competing at the highest level nationally. Kelly and Mary Graves have formed a strong bond to the Eugene community and all Duck fans, and we are grateful for their continued commitment to our student-athletes and the University of Oregon." "I am extremely grateful to President Schill, Rob Mullens, Lisa Peterson, and the entire administration for their continued support and trust in me to lead this program," said Graves. "My family and I absolutely love being a part of the Duck family and the amazing University of Oregon community. We are building something special here in Eugene, and this is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of the tremendous student-athletes we have had the privilege of working with over the years, as well as the commitment of my incredible staff. I also want to thank the best fans in the nation for their unbelievable passion and support of this program; we can't wait until the day we are able to pack the house at Matthew Knight Arena again." The John R. Wooden Pac-12 Coach of the Year in each of the last two seasons, Graves guided Oregon to the program's first-ever Final Four appearance in 2019 while also leading UO to three consecutive Elite Eights. The Ducks set a program record for wins in 2017-18 with 33, a total equaled in 2018-19, and Oregon went 31-2 in the COVID-19-shortened 2019-20 season to become the only team in the nation with 30-plus wins in each of the last three campaigns. The Ducks – 7-0 overall and 5-0 in Pac-12 play to open the 2020-21 season – have won a program-record 26 consecutive games dating back to last season, the longest active winning streak in the nation. Oregon also owns current win streaks of 23 consecutive in conference play, 21 in a row at home, and 13 consecutive on the road, and the No. 8 Ducks have been ranked in the Associated Press top 10 for 64 consecutive polls. In his 24th season as a Division I head coach, Graves owns a 544-216 (.716) career record with 13 total conference titles, and his 162 wins as Oregon's head coach rank second in program history. Graves has coached and recruited some of the greatest players in women's college basketball history, including the only two players ever to record 2,000 career points and 1,000 career assists in Oregon legend Sabrina Ionescu and former Gonzaga star Courtney Vandersloot. Ionescu is the undisputed NCAA triple-double queen with 26 during her incredible career, and she was the unanimous national player of the year as a senior in 2019-20 before going on to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft. Under Graves' tutelage, Ionescu teamed up with fellow All-Americans Ruthy Hebard and Satou Sabally to form one of the most lethal trios in the history of the game. Sabally followed Ionescu as the No. 2 pick in the WNBA Draft and Hebard went at No. 8, becoming just the seventh trio of teammates ever to go in the top 10 of the same draft. Despite losing the "Big Three" as well as a fourth starter from 2019-20 in Minyon Moore, Graves has maintained Oregon's status as one of the nation's premiere programs in 2020-21 with the addition of the nation's No. 1 recruiting class as well as multiple talented transfers. The top-ranked freshman class – made up of five McDonald's All-Americans – is the first in program history.

Can Oregon save face for the PAC12
I share your concerns OC, as I don't know what generated more stomach acid for me; watching Texas score again or hearing more praise and tribute to the Longhorn QB. I figured it had to end at some point, and finally just muted the darn thing...

Oregon Prepares for Cyclones Unusual 3-3-5 Stack Defense

Lenoir Coming Back for the 2021 Season?
I cannot link it because it is a subscription site, but today's Register-Guard has an article about Demo Lenoir considering a return to the team for next season since 2020 is an eligibility mulligan. On one hand it says he is considered one of the top 15 corners in the next NFL draft, (??) yet he says there are things he can still learn and improve. I don't know if this is just talk to stir up Social Media, or if he is serious. How would that alter our thoughts about the secondary for next year? (Or should we withhold our comment until after the Fiesta Bowl?)

A New Defensive Era has Arrived at Oregon
Perhaps you do not understand; we will be posting articles, tweets, videos and GIFs from all websites off the web, and a FishDuck article is one of them each day that we will be posting in here because we soon will not have comments below the article at FishDuck. Thus to comment on the FishDuck article...we do it here. Or you did not click on the link? It takes you right to the article at FishDuck, or anyone can read the article at FishDuck without the link. I guess I am not sure of the question, or I am the one confused...
