  1. It is rumored that CJ Daniels of Liberty (who went into the portal) is visiting Texas, and is thought to be visiting Oregon after that. In my film study of Liberty--I thought he was an outstanding receiver, who did a great job of going up and just finding a way to come down with the ball. Often the QB would just throw it up and let him outjump the competition. I was impressed with him, and felt that Oregon's focus on taking him out of the game was a major component by our defense in the Fiesta Bowl victory. We allowed him some short passes and slants, but nothing deep downfield. The mystery visitor this weekend is Jamaree Caldwell, a sizeable defensive lineman from Houston. Ja'Maree Caldwell is a Defensive Lineman from Mount Holly, NC 247SPORTS.COM summary
  2. I made the mistake last year of not paying attention to the portal transfers until after the Spring Game, as I was shocked at what I saw. This year I am going to study the portal transfer players carefully before the Spring Game, and really watch to see if they can help as the coaches hope. As noted above--there is a TON of talent on this team, and most of it is quite young and has to be sorted out. We will have more transfers out after the Spring Game when some players see they are at the bottom of the depth chart.
  3. "The Enemy of My Enemy...Still Needs to be Thrashed." Ducks win 89-84! Oregon Mens Basketball plays the Cougars in Pullman tonight at 7:00 PM on ESPNU
  4. Thanks for posting this, as it is BIG for next year's defense!
  5. Yep, the Pac-Whatever is recognized for what it is...another Mountain West conference.
  6. Noah is the fastest running back, and is deadly coming out of the backfield receiving passes. He did fantastic under Dilly doing that, but with the Stein offense? Whew! A long receiving TD in this game...
  7. The problems with negative emojis, and/or thumbs down (downvotes) are much greater than the benefits. People get offended really easy if there a lot of downvotes and won't post again, someone doesn't like someone else and always downvotes that person, etc. People use downvotes as a way to discourage posting of certain opinions on certain topics... Been there, done that. Would I bring the downvotes back?
  8. Yep, we had a “thread-hyjack” going on… Back to the damn Huskies!
  9. Players like Tysheem Johnson, (below) and Holden on offense will improve even more with one more year...
  10. This also means the pool of transfer QBs for USC is drying up....
  11. Whoops! Apparently that was a hoax, and I thank the OBD member in that area, Notalot, for researching and confirming that the tweet at the top is not true.
  12. You have not read all that has written about this issue. Phil did not help Oregon until we went to the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl on our own. Winners want to work with winners, and we had to prove it on our own first. Oregon State has not done anything like that, and besides--they have tons of alumni who have done well in business, yet have not been attracted to the program. Again...not Oregon's fault. Even with that first project...the indoor facility bears the name of the major donor at the time Ed Moshofsky, a former Oregon player who helped get the project going.
  13. It is reported on another site that there is another visitor this weekend, and he does not want his name leaked. Could it be Harbor? Harbor is an elite athlete that I wanted bad last year, and is an elite track athlete as well. Get'im Dano!
  14. This makes Gary Bryant Jr. expendable if the Texas A&M transfer decides to join us. I'd like Bryant, but he may decide to leave if the transfer comes, and if so--it is a good trade for us. With Tez and Holden in hand, things look good. Now we need Ferguson to stay!
  15. We are not blaming them for the demise of the conference, but they are blaming us. The major component in why they are in this spot is their athletic department management over the decades. They did not do anything to make their brand special, to build their fan base, and now they want to blame their current situation on Oregon?
  16. Life is good, and discussion is better when Darren Perkins is writing for FishDuck....
  17. Good idea, since most will not have a dawg-in-the-fight.
  18. It almost feels like they are spacing these announcements out? So that each player has a day to be in the glow of a wonderful announcement?
  19. More coming later to savor… You may raise an eyebrow at my "wording" in the title, but for those who have followed my umpteen posts, and over 600 articles I've written on FishDuck over the last dozen years--the "B" word is routine and reserved for Washington. It is the one bad word allowed here and not caught by the profanity-software, and is permitted for use by everyone in context to Washington. I never use it for other teams because...1) no others generate the antipathy from me that Washington fans do, and 2) Oregon State has fallen so far in my view that they are not even worthy of denigration that comes from respect. The Game! With the small lineup due to injuries, the Ducks are surviving and flourishing, but not dominating at all. We are 10th in the conference in rebounding, but we are No. 1 in the conference for turnover differential, which means this group is taking care of the ball well, and creating turnovers at a high rate. Oregon is No. 2 in the conference for steals, and you see a ton of Ducks poking the ball out to other teammates, of which starts a fast-break. We used to own Hec Edmondson when Payton was here....can Jackson Shelstad revive that?
  20. No sweat, I got your back. No. 1...amen Duck-Brother, as it will be nice to have an uneventful off-season. It makes for less conversation here, but we also won't have people going bonkers. Glad you pointed out another very positive development from Dan Lanning. No. 2...it sure is nice to have new members like you jumping in and contributing as you have. OBD members...if you joined in the last three months? Dive in, as this Duck Pond is safe and you do not need any expertise; just give us your thoughts, and that's it! No. 3...We have a number of new members that have been fun to read, and I invite all the newbies to get started, and keep going!
