  1. Saint Nick beat Kirby every time they played except on one occasion. Recruiting and NIL? Bama finished 2nd in recruiting this season. Bama at 80% has the bluest chip roster in the land. Harbaugh will not leave his alma mater for Bama. If he leaves, it will be for a try at a Super Bowl championship. Kiffin? had success at Bama as the OC and can recruit the South. This job, UGA, Ohio State, and Michigan were the jobs that I believed would tempt Dan. Saban is making millions more than Dan a year with numerous off-field earning opportunities. If Dan is offered the job, this will be extremely difficult to turn down, Dan and his wife have resided before in Tuscaloosa. But, talk about a tough act to follow. If Dan stays, several Bama guys might be available when the portal next opens. I'm surprised Nich left without going for another title in 2024. Bama will be in the PO field next season.
  2. Reverse! UNLV QB flips his transfer from UGA to USC. Jayden Maiava now heading to USC, not Georgia, father says - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM After a final pitch from USC coach Lincoln Riley, Jayden Maiava now will have the opportunity to compete for the starting job with Miller Moss and will provide some stability at the QB position as...
  3. JJ McCarthy threw for 140 yards. Michigan ran the ball for 303 yards. When the game was in doubt a big UW gain was called back for holding. Michigan OL held all game long and was rarely called especially after getting the ball back from UW on its holding penalty and its OL holding on a key play. The Michigan D is of course legit. But UW after a lot of close games and a 6 day turn around was not prepared for this game. And Grubb's play calling, not attacking the Michigan edges on short to medium throws was suspect. The final score was not representative of how close this game was in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, Michigan's OL and running backs came through. Far better than at the end of the season. No QB under that kind of sustained pressure is going to light it up. And Dillon was missed not only in the run game but also in pass blocking. Hail to the Victors but with what Michigan loses this season and with the 2024 schedule ranking up I will not be surprised, especially if Jim and JJ go to see UM finish 3rd or lower in the B1G next season. In week 2 Michigan has an OOC game vs Texas in Ann Arbor that will be very interesting. BTW, the UNLV QB USC was after signed with Georgia.
  4. National championship odds 2024: Georgia favored for return to top with Alabama, Ohio State right behind - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Odds for teams to win the 2024 national championship have been posted after the conclusion of the 2023 season From CBS Sports.
  5. Solar, thanks for the great take. 24? As long as CFB players are still 'students,' I do not think the schedule will allow for a 24-team PO. The 2024 PO champ game will not be played until 1/20/25. But I do believe a 16-team field is coming in 2026 with a spot reserved for the G5 if not in the top 16. No 1st round byes. The first 2 rounds, at least, will be played on the campuses of the higher-ranked teams. All teams start play in what is now Week 0. Players will share in PO revenue, which without the ESPN broadcast exclusive will be massive. Using the 2023/24 final AP - 16. OK State at 1. Michigan/ 15. OK at 2. UW/ 14. Notre Dame at 3. Texas/ 13. Penn State at 4. Georgia/ 12. LSU at 5. Bama/ 11. AZ at 6. OBD/ 10. OH ST at '7.' FSU/ 9. Ole Miss at 8. Mizzou. Speaking of Missouri, Show Me the $!
  6. How much would the final PO Committee rankings vary if we had a 12-team PO in 2023/24? Using the final PO Ct. rankings. FSU without its starting QB is 13-0, not good enough for the Final 4, but better than No. 6 Georgia, No. 7. Ohio State, and No. 8 Oregon? FSU as the No. 5 seed and with the varsity showing up, would have easily dispatched No.12 seed Liberty (but would this be SMU and not Liberty?) in the 1st Round in Tallahassee and moved on to play No. 4 Alabama in the second round. To reach the 12-team champ game in 2023/24, and capture a 3-Pete, Georgia would have to play 17 games. The last 5 vs. No. 4 Bama, and if the top seeds held serve before playing Georgia, No. 11 Ole Miss, No. 3 Texas, No. 2. Washington, and No. 1. Michigan. WOW! Oregon? 17 games. No. 2. Washington, No. 9. Mizzou, No. 1. Michigan, and No. 4 Alabama, and win these, and Puddles could play UGA in the ATL in the champ game. You best have a deep, talented roster and avoid the injury bug. On to next year's B1G season! (BTW, in addition to QB Howard from K-State, tOSU just added RB Jenkins from Ole Miss. The Columbus NIL $ is flowing)
  7. Great take. UGA plays at Bama, Ole Miss, and Texas. Opens vs Clemson in the ATL but the Dawgs do not play Mizzou in 2024.
  8. Typing from my room where I have consigned myself without breakfast. Hats off to Michigan! Which OL won the Joe Moore Award? Mason Grahm from Anaheim, CA. Whoa Neely. Ducks OL best be prepared for this dude. Who will be Michigan's HC when Oregon trips to Ann Arbor?
  9. 3 games then off. 8 games then off. Far from ideal. (Malachi Nelson will be Boise's QB.)
  10. A few hours away. Blue or Purple Haze? Either way, it's a B1G win.
  11. DeBoer to Michigan? https://athlonsports.com/college-football/cfb-insider-says-kalen-deboer-top-candidate-michigan-job-if-jim-harbaugh-takes-nfl-job
  12. Thanks, Ryan, good and fun stuff. In terms of experience playing together which is key, I would add the OL to the list of guys who were questioned before the 2023 season but return a ton of experience in 2024. I was very encouraged by how Poncho stepped up at center in the Fiesta Bowl in the absence of the Rimington Trophy winner. Questions were answered in the affirmative for the OL in 2023 and heading into 2024. I think Charles's comment nails it. The question in 2024 switches to the DL where a lot of experience was lost. Dan Lanning (DL!) is working hard to develop a UGA-like D Line but he isn't there yet. Will the stud frosh recruits coming in on the DL be able to contribute in 2024? As Charles notes, there is still a chance for Dan to bring DL experience in from the portal. The portal opens up again from April 15 to 30 after spring ball. More attractive DL guys could enter the portal at this time. One place where I will demur is the idea that the LOS will be much harder across the board in the B1G. I don't see it. Michigan is losing a ton of experienced guys on the defense side of the ball and is likely going to lose its HC. The vaunted Penn State D and DL was toyed with by Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl. The vaunted Iowa DL, which held down the Michigan O in the B1G champ game, was blown up by Tenessee playing behind a true frosh starting his first game at QB. The one D other than Michigan that played well in its bowl was the tOSU D and DL in the Cotton Bowl. tOSU sack leader Jack Sawyer is returning but the Buckeyes lose a lot of experience on the back end of the D. I believe the B1G in 2024 will be no tougher than the Pac-12 in 2023. Thanks again, fun take.
  13. Dr. Jack, I did not think that Oregon would trounce tOSU in 2014 even before the WR suspension and the injury to IFO. Ohio State had a roster that was far superior to the Oregon roster. Ohio State was coached by Urban Meyer; Oregon by Mark Helfrich. Oregon had taken down an ACC undefeated team that was way overrated with a coach who was good when he had a great QB playing aginst inferior opposition. Ohio State had defeated No. 1 seed Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Yes, tOSU was on its 3rd string QB but he played well in the Sugar Bowl and Ohio State, with Bosa on board, controlled both LOS. This was likely the best Ohio State team Urban put on the field; a lot of guys won played for tOSU in this game are still in The League. Oregon had a loss in a Pac-12 conference that was no where close to the B1G in top to bottom conference strength in 2013/14. So, I was hoping Oregon would win but I had serious doubts. Michigan has a Blue Chip Roster by 4%, at 54%. UW does not have a BCR, but Penix was a 3*recruit out of Tampa, Florida who had his scholarship offer withdrawn by Tennessee and ended up at Indiana. How did he compare to 5* Quinn Ewers in the Sugar Bowl? UW, not Michigan's OL won the Joe Moore Award. This UW OL is better than the OL Oregon sent to the 2014 champ game. UW played a far more difficult schedule than Michigan in 2023. The UM DL looked great in the Rose Bowl but that was against an OL that had issues all season long. And against a QB no where near as nimble as Penix. Both teams IMO had they played like they did in the Rose Bowl would have lost to Texas and UW. Michigan's special team play was a nightmare. The Bama center (who is transferring to Ohio State) could not snap the ball. The Michigan O but for a great late drive to tie the game disappeared in the 2nd half. Will I be surprised if Michigan wins tomorrow night? No. But these are evenly matched teams which was not the case in 2014.
  14. Liberty QB Salter has withdrawn his name from the portal and will return to Liberty. No P4 opponents on Liberty's 2024 schedule and CUSA COY Chadwell back to coach the Flames. Liberty will be a contender for the 2024 PO 12 seed.
  15. Bo will play in this season's Senior Bowl. Great chance for Bo to impress NFL scouts. You go BO!
