  1. I hope you are correct. Oregon State defeats UW, assuming Bama wins out and wins the SEC champ game, and Texas wins and wins the B12 champ game. One of Michigan/Ohio State, and FSU go undefeated, what 2 teams do the Committee choose from 12-1 SEC conference champ Bama, 12-1 Georgia, 12-1 Texas with a win over the SEC champ on the road and 12-1 Oregon. UW loses on Saturday and I will not be surprised to see Bama and Texas jump Oregon and UW. Both teams currently have better wins than Oregon. With Kansas at 25, UT has 3 top-25 wins and a 3-point loss to a ranked team. The win at Bama is a terrific resume-building win. Bama has wins over 13, 15, and 18 and well, it's Bama. Will the Committee if UGA suffers a close loss in the SEC champ game want to end UGA's attempt at 3 titles in a row? I do not see a 12-1 Oregon with 3 top-25 wins as a lock for the final Final 4. Oregon playing in a conference that is disappearing could be battling one or more big brand-name teams with the same record. And Oregon, UW, Oregon State, Arizona, and Utah will not get any credit for not playing a Chattanooga or a North Alabama on Saturday. For playing 9 conference games.
  2. Friend Mic, I'm surprised. What does UW have to do? I guess UW has to defeat its 4th Committee-ranked team of the season on the road in Corvallis. As Mic so correctly advises, Go UW! (Gulp!) Based on these rankings, if UW defeats OSU on the road while FSU defeats an FCS school at home. maybe, perhaps, if the Grapevine gurus concur, UW might jump FSU? Of course, if UW takes the L, the Committee is likely to drop the Huskies out of the top 10 and jump Bama, a certain winner against Chattanooga, and Texas, if it wins at Iowa State, ahead of Oregon because the Ducks loss in Seattle is no longer a 'good loss.' UW and FSU are both undefeated. UW has the stronger Strength of Record and the stronger Strength of Schedule. Not by much but stronger in both cases. The SOS lead will improve on Saturday when UW plays at 11 Oregon State and FSU plays FCS North Alabama. Win Saturday, and UW's SOR will also materially improve. UW has wins over committee-ranked 6 (sigh,) 17 (road), and 18 with its next-best win on the road against USC. SC had the defending Heisman winner at QB versus UW for 4 quarters. FSU has a win against one ranked opponent. #15 LSU at a neutral site. FSU's next-best win is at home versus a Duke team that had the lead in Tallahassee before its already injured starting QB went down at the beginning of the 4th quarter. FSU's next-best win? I guess it is versus 6-4 Clemson when Clemson failed to convert a chip shot FG for the victory. What message is the Committee trying to send? I have no idea. However, if there is no ipso facto reward, like #1 Georgia just received for defeating 11. Mizzou and 13. Ole Miss, why schedule up? Why isn't UW playing Tuna Fish Salad State in Seattle this Saturday instead of going on the road to play the Committee's #11 ranked team? Why isn't Oregon playing San Jose State at home and getting some reps for backups and more money for a home game? UW played a game at P5 Michigan State. Sparty stinks, nevertheless, UW defeated MSU on the road more emphatically than #2 Ohio State did last Saturday in Columbus. #3 Michigan played 3 donut holes OOC and its first-ranked opponent last Saturday, against one-dimensional Penn State. Ergo, the Committee has Michigan as the 3rd best team in the nation based almost exclusively on the eye test. UW has a better group of wins, by far, than Michigan. Calm down JJ. it's week 3. I hear you, and I am by no means a Husky fan but UW with its record being disrespected is a diss to Oregon and the entire conference. Summary: Here is what the Committee appears to be advising CFB teams. Wins over ranked opponents are rewarded at whim, so play the same OOC conference schedule Michigan and Oregon State played this season, no P5 opponent, and do not be stupid enough to play 9 conference games. Sincerely, Boo Corrigan. Committee Chair and NC State AD. (Hmmm?)
  3. If they are playing well and together, this is the best OL that ASU will play against this season.
  4. Thanks again, David, great take. TAMU - 1 Natty - 1939. Last conference title - 1998 - #1 in dead money and delusional fans. Did A+M powers-that-be watch Oregon pants Jimbo, Jameis, and undefeated FSU in 2014? Did the Miami powers-that-be watch Mario's game-day coaching? Like the 3rd marriage, these hires were hope triumphing over experience. USC - The AD who hired Riley is gone for improper conduct. What Riley had going for him in 2022 that he did not have in 2023. No OREGON and UW on the schedule. Any HC in America with a clue would have fired Grinch after the Pac-12 champ game and Cotton Bowl flameouts. For some reason, after going 0-3 in the PO and watching the USC D underperform in 2022, Riley believes that putting up points is the way to win championships. Another difference between Pete Carroll and Riley is Pete's ability to recruit. Based on brand, location, yada yada, Riley should be recruiting at a much better clip. (Although, he is doing better than cross-town Chip.) Caleb Williams is off to the League next season and most likely will not play in this season's Sun or Las Vegas Bowl. OK, maybe the Holiday Bowl. Recruits on both sides of the LOS are not signing on with Riley. I am much more optimistic regarding OREGON's transition to the B1G than I am about SC being an immediate competitor for B1G titles. Flash does not beat hard work. I agree David, with your take but this was a flash thrown at CFB's #1 Flash Man: "They're fighting for clicks, we're fighting for wins!" GO DUCKS! BEAT THE DEVILS! BTW, Oregon State is -2.5 versus UW. Penix did not have a great game versus OSU in Seattle last season. But I do not see DJU taking down a Penix-led team. BTW2 - Oregon State is -25 in today's game being played in Washington state court.
  5. Now, how about Eat Crow? He was Larry's best buddy. And he whined about OREGON and UW breaking up the Pac? Crow and Anderson, without consulting Dilly, took ASU out of any chance at a 2023 bowl game. I like Dilly. But you talk about a pair to draw to?
  6. Log, too many penalties? Yes. But spinning the ball in the end zone = 15 yards? And a couple of phantom PI calls. We've found our way out of here. Thank Goodness!
  7. Love the comment. Reminds me of ex-lady friends.
  8. Watching the reply today I had a thought (rare for moi.) Cam, change your jersey and find numbers that do not add up to 13.
  9. I think that Ty will have plenty of competition for the starting spot including a guy out of the portal. UGA's Vandergriff? College rosters roll over, sooner now than ever before but top programs sustain their excellence. The new QBs at UGA and Bama have both improved significantly during the season and UGA and Bama recruiting keeps on keepin' on. OREGON has a coach who is not only an outstanding recruiter but a terrific portal picker. And going B1G and the Big 10 Network will only help with recruiting. Today, if I were a UCLA, USC, or UW fan I'd be far more worried about next season than I am as a Ducks fan. And Oregon has 4 OOC games to start 2024 and figure things out.
  10. Where have you gone Roger Staubach and the Lonely End? Service academies never die, they just fade away.
  11. No excuse, but the GameDay producer went to JMU. One reason ESPN is back at JMU for the 2nd time. Plus, a chance for ESPN to dump on the NCAA for not having JMU bowl-eligible this season. JMU is undefeated. Unless the NCAA comes to (finds?) its senses a 5L team will go bowling and not JMU. It's more than time for P4 CFB to leave the NCAA behind. An entity that has nothing to do with the CFB playoff except to bench guys for smoking dope. I agree with many of the above GameDay comments. Go to 2 hours and lose McAfee and his FG contest. And Jen Lada?
  12. And after the chat, DL's agent will have a chat with Rob.
  13. Thanks, Coach. I'm goin' to get on my Bony and ride!
  14. The Beavers have the ultimate DAM payback in hand and if it happens, it will happen on the field and not in front of a state of Washington judge.
  15. USC is 7-4 with Caleb Williams. Without Caleb? OREGON recruiting has produced much better players on both LOS. UCLA vs. USC is the Disappointment Bowl. UCLA is 6-4 with 3 OOC cupcakes no OREGON and no UW. I would not be surprised if Cal hands Chip a loss and Wilcox saves his job.
  16. I humbly disagree with A+M being a threat. The Threat? When Saint Nick hangs it up.
  17. A+M did win a Natty. In 1939! Even I was not alive when this happened.
  18. Updated PO Odds. 1. Michigan - 66% - at Maryland, Ohio State - All-time tempest in a teapot? 2. FSU - 65% - North Alabama, at Florida - SCAM! UW 3 top 25 W. FSU - 1. 3L LSU. Go Gators! 3. Ohio State - 64% - Minnesota, at Michigan - Odds will significantly shift after the game in Ann Arbor. 4. Georgia - 53% - At Tennessee, At Georgia Tech - Oh, oh, Bama in Atlanta. 5. Alabama - 41% - From a mile away? Bama beats UGA and 2 12-1 SEC teams are in? 6. OREGON - 39% - At ASU, Oregon State - Final 4 shot is coming down to W in Las Vegas. 7. Texas - 37% - At Iowa State, Texas Tech - Horns tried to give away the last 3 games. Danger Puddles! 8. Washington - 34% - At OR ST, WSU - W at AZ, USC, vs. OREGON and Utah and behind FSU? 9. Oklahoma - 1% - At BYU, TCU - 2 top 10 teams upset in 2023: TX at Bama and OK vs. TX 10. Louisville - .05% - At Miami, Kentucky. Coaching Carousel - The December signing day continues to cause in-season terminations. A+M - Jimbo - No set off against $77M payout. Agents vs. ADs = Goliath vs. David without a sling. Arkansas - A hero 2 seasons back, Sam Pittman is gone. Does Danno want any part of this? Mississippi State - Zack Arnett. It's tough to follow a Pirate. Dan Mullen back at MS State? Michigan State - Mel Tucker - Maybe Sparty will not owe Mel alimony? G5 - Boise State - Avalos gone with Boise in the MW hunt? San Diego State - Hoke is retiring. SDS was going to help save the Pac-9, right? The Playoff format going to 5/7 could help save PSU's James Franklin and the SEC's James Franklin, Lane Kiffen. https://collegefootballnews.com/cfn/college-football-playoff-5-7-and-why-you-will-care-underrated-college-football-thing
  19. David, this was such a great post with great comments. Tuesday night, if the PO Ct does not jump UW over FSU then something is very wrong. (Rankings at 9 Eastern, or thereabout, Tuesday between basketball games so ESPN can make more money. I just love amateur athletics.) UW will have 3 victories over the Top 25 teams when the next rankings come out. Arizona, Oregon (sigh,) and Utah, and a win over bowl-eligible USC. A beat down of Michigan State, similar to what Ohio State put on Sparty in Columbus Saturday and not on the road. 2 of the wins against ranked teams came on the road. FSU has 1 win against a ranked team, 3-loss LSU. Clemson? Clemson is now 6-4 and not ranked. This FSU team and the conference it plays in are a charade. FSU plays NO. Alabama Saturday while UW trips to Week 12 AP #10 Oregon State. UW needs to get respect for what it has done on the field and the Ducks need UW to be ranked in the top 4 when Oregon (knockwood) plays UW in Vegas. But the PO Ct makes it up as it goes along so who knows?
  20. Charles, great call on the Buckeyes and Wolverines yet the B1G commish just (kind of) stuck it to Michigan. And the conference also piled on during Ohio State's Tattoo Gate episode. You are so right that SC will not be the lead B1G pony including influencing scheduling for B1G football.
  21. UCLA is already playing a lot of coaching dead money and has the Cali tax payment coming up. And unlike the A+M fans, they are not all that zealous and all that crazy.
  22. A new OC would be his 3rd OC in 3 seasons. As the old Italian saying goes: A fish stinks from the head. His OC who went to UNLV has been fired as HC. The current UNLV HC has the Runnin' Rebels tied for 1st place in the MW. And Boise fired Andy Avalos today. Mario's coaching tree has undergone a lot of pruning.
  23. Van Dyke joins the list of QBs buried by Mario. Van Dyke's stat line vs FSU - 1 pass/ 1 interception. Thank goodness people in Florida were not watching Left Coast football when Mario was mucking things up.
  24. The putter and he still uses a long shaft putter, is legal. Anchoring the putter was determined to be illegal. Langer has won a lot of $ on the Senior tour using the same style of putter but modifying his grip to conform to the rules. Unless you want tips on how to line up your 4th putt, this concludes my knowledge of putting.😵
  25. How best to line up your 4th putt? The kid has the Yips. Can he kick his way out of it? Johnny Miller quit tournament golf because he could not conquer the yips. Bernhard Langer after missing the Ryder Cup winning putt on Kiowa Island did after a couple of years overcome the yips and became the Senior golfer with the most titles. It's all between the ears. The special teams did a good job of shutting down Z. Branch.
