  1. 3 takeaways from Ohio State’s underwhelming Cotton Bowl loss to Mizzou SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Ohio State struggled in abysmal fashion against Missouri during the Cotton Bowl loss.
  2. Terps paying Puddles a visit in 2024. 3 bowl wins in a row. 3 takeaways from Maryland’s impressive Music City Bowl win SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Maryland produced a dynamic performance in the Music City Bowl to cap the 2023 season.
  3. 3 takeaways from Penn State’s embarrassing Peach Bowl loss to Ole Miss SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Penn State could not deliver in the second half of the Peach Bowl against Ole Miss.
  4. Thanks, Ryan. Easy-Peasy for me. Iowa State had the better coach. Not the better roster but the better coach. And who knew about Purdy back then? Thanks for the take. Go Ducks! Extinguish The Flames!
  5. CHEERS! Rose Bowl Party Tomorrow - GO BLUE. Tonight - We again watch Good Will Hunting followed by Hoosiers. Best to all. Stay safe + GO DUCKS! Extinguish the Flames! BO B!G! Go 2-0! TX fans will = 70%+ of the Sugar Bowl crowd. About the same in last season's Alamo Bowl. And if UT makes it to the title game in Houston? How many times did LSU win BCS and a Playoff title in New Orleans? How about a PO game or 3 in Las Vegas, Detroit, Indianapolis and Minneapolis. The PO next season post the 1st round will be played predominately in Dixie. Yes, rain is a threat but games could also be played in Seattle, Santa Clara, and SoFi. Anywho, everyone enjoy.
  6. Great take. Thanks. I have one slight disagreement. Georgia deserved to be in a playoff. Georgia did not deserve to be in a 4-team Invitational. With Bama, a team I assume would have be in as the SEC champ along with UGA, what team do you leave out? Conference champion UW that went 13-0 in the Pac-12 for the first time since CU and Utah joined. A team that played 9 and not 8 conference games. A team that defeated 8 bowl teams, including (SIGH) the Ducks twice? (BTW, the Heisman winner from the SEC went 2-3 vs teams with winning records.) A team that led the nation in passing. Conference champ of the conference that led the P5 in OOC wins. Conference champion Texas with a win on the road at Bama and a single loss to No. 12 Oklahoma, by 3 points at a neutral site. Conference champion 13-0 Michigan from the B1G? The winningest team in the history of CFB benched? One of the Bluest Blue Bloods? I 100% agree that Georgia should be any kind of logically formatted "PLAYOFF." Extrapolate the PO Ct.'s 2023 final ranking into 2024 and UGA would have been the 7th seed - 1. MI/ 2. TX/ 3. FSU/ 4.AZ/ 5. UW/ 6. Bama/ 7.UGA/ 8. OH ST/ 9. OREGON/ 10. MIzzou/ 11. Penn State/ 12. Liberty. Georgia would have re-matched against Mizzou in Athens. OREGON would play in Columbus. But would the final ranking have looked like this? I hope not. And come 2026 I'm reasonably certain that the 4 highest ranked conference champs will not receive a 1st round bye. Why should Arizona playing in the B12 and ranked No. 14 have the 1st round off? I do think that Bama beats Michigan. But if Penix is on I think UW defeats Texas in back-to-back bowl games. Yes, the game is in Dixie but last season UW beat TX in San Antonio. The win in Tuscaloosa was assume, but UW played a more difficult schedule. Happy New Year to the great Georgia contributors on OBD and best of luck to the Dawgs in 2024! Man, does the schedule ramp up or what? Clemson, at Bama, Auburn, at Texas, Florida, at Ole Miss, Tennessee, Georgia Tech - bowl winner over B12 UCF. WOW! But go get 'em Bow Wow!
  7. Great take. But you can in my opinion put a value on BCS wins and PO wins. The SEC dominates here. And why shouldn't it, the SEC dominates in recruiting, teams ranked, most seasons in OOC play but not this season, and players forwarded to the NFL. Also, in admistrative, fan, and budgetary support. And, no surprise, when a conference has a great bowl season conference fans, administrators and broadcast partners pump it up. Not so good: "Well, bowls don't matter." And bowl games go matter for a coach like Mizzou's Drinkwitz who is trying to move Mizzou up to the upper tier of the SEC. To do this requires money. Yes, Ohio State was down a lot of guys but a win over Ohio State means money for Coach Drink and Missouri. Believe me, if the SEC goes 4-0 on Monday vs. the B1G and 6-1 all told, you will hear about it directly of impliedly from ESPN.
  8. Unfortunately for Seminoles fans, that was the FSU JVs vs. the UGA varsity down a few starters but not close to the starters not playing for FSU. And 12-1 UGA was also mad about not having the chance to 3-pete and it showed. How did Bama need a walk off miracle TD to defeat this Auburn team? Maryland with the B1G all time leader in passing not playing today blew out Auburn. The Auburn run game that punished the Tide D did not show up in Nashville. CFB is a mess. Something needs to be done in regard to when players can enter the portal. For example, the guy who would have started at QB for FSU figured he could not sit around while other QBs were being taken from the portal. NFL roster management is a piece of cake compared to the NFL. Dan Lanning is just one of the CFB coaches trying to cement his early signing day recruiting class, while pursuing players in the portal, potecting his existing roster from the poachers, and having to prepare for a bowl game. Chaos!
  9. Hats off to Maryland, a team that visits Autzen in 2024. Terrific showing behind back up QBs. The New B1G needed this win over the SEC. Four B1G vs. SEC games on Monday. The B1G is a dog (including the Seattle Dawgs) in three of the four games. And for some reason, Michigan is a slight favorite over Bama. GO BLUE! Go Ducks! Extinguish the Flames! We are having a Rose Bowl party tomorrow and I do not want to be grumpy come 5 PM on the Right Coast.
  10. FSU better hope it does better with the Get Out of ACC Jail litigation. But I imagine that not a single FSU lawyer will opt out.
  11. To date, the 2024 B1G is 6-2 - Five B1G Bowl Games remain to be played. UCLA - 35 - Boise State - 22 - Nice comeback win against the MW champ Northwestern - 14 - Utah - 7 - Upset win against a Pac team off to the B1G 12 Minnesota - 30 - BGSU - 24 - Gophers TCB vs. the MAC USC - 42 - No. 15. Louisville - 28 - 6 TDs from SC QB Miller Moss. Which team was ranked? Rutgers 31 - Miami 24 - Upset win by the Scarlet Knights - 1-11 vs. Miami. Maryland 31 - Auburn - 13 - Mary without its starting QB shows up and upsets Auburn for a win vs. the SEC. No. 7 Ohio State - 3 - No. 9. Missouri - 14 Cam Ward's agent is salivating. No. 10. Penn State - 25 - No. 11. Ole Miss - 38 - PSU D wore down and the passing game is still a rumor. 2-0 vs, ACC 1-0 vs. MAC, Mountain West, B 12 1-2 vs. SEC Four P4 wins. Five games on New Year's Day, Four vs. SEC Opponents. No. 8 - OREGON -16.5 vs. No. 23 Liberty - If the Ducks are not fired up, Flame have a puncher's chance Wisconsin +10 vs. No. 13 LSU No Heisman winner for LSU in this game. No. 17. Iowa +6.5 vs. No. 21 Tennessee - It would be nice if one of the B1G W teams can deliver an upset. No. 2 Washington +4 vs. No 3 Texas - The Dawg feel disrespected. 2-0 vs. TX in back -to-back bowl games? No. 1 Michigan -1.5 vs No. 4 Alabama - I am surprised the line has not moved Bama's way. Especially after watching the Ohio State and Penn State games. Lots on the B1G vs. SEC line on 1/1/24. GO DUCKS! Extinguish the Flames.
  12. No. 10. PSU goes down to No. 11 Ole Miss. No. 7. Ohio State defeated by No. 9 Missouri. Mary to the rescue without Prince Taulia by her side? Who knew?
  13. Cameron Ward's agent has to be very happy.
  14. Mea Culpa, Rob. Great post, thanks.
  15. And Penn State falls to Ole Miss. B1G 0-2 vs SEC with Maryland battling. Bray was at the Oregon State game. Why wasn't he on the sidelines? OR St may have put up another FG. I loved Canvano's spin effort of the game.
  16. Thanks, Charles. Great analysis. So much of bowl outcomes dedend upon the Want To factor. This is Liberty's shot at the New Year's Day spotlight and the Flames will come in on fire. But with Bo leading the way I am impressed with how many Ducks who could have opted out are playing in this game. Liberty did not play a top 50 offense in 2023, and Liberty had the 14th most giveaways. This a D that was not tested accompanied by a high scoring offense prone to turn the ball over but not necessarily pay the price because the opposition's Os were not very good. ESPN FPI has the Ducks winning 89.9% of the simulated games. But SP+ has Oregon winning only 78% of the time by an average of 13.2 points a game, below the Ducks -17.5 odds. Bet MGM comes with the most confidence in Oregon, Ducks win 95% of the time. I believe that Liberty will put up some points but this is by far the best offense the Flames have faced all season. I think Oregon coveres the 17.5 but that Liberty keeps it close for a half. Go Ducks! Extinguish the Flames!
  17. After the sleep walking in the Cotton Bowl, the B1G is now 5-1 in its bowl games. I think more pain at the hands of the SEC will be coming down soon.
  18. Rob reached out when both jobs were open as reported by SI and ESPN. As to cutting jobs. Except for imcompetence at the time of initial audit I'd cut jobs by attrition. Bot please, look at the Org Chart and tell me this would fly in non-governmental entity.
  19. KK, I think Hurricanns already saw this vs. The Rambling Wreck.
  20. We Can Litigate! But in the B1G boy leauge, We Can't Play! Build another Dam. One of the worst bowl losses ever by a ranked team. BUT, we were missing players. And ND was not missing players? Rob gave these Beavers bozos a home game instead of playing P4 TX Tech in Autzen, When the litigation had been settled and with the Pac-10 crumbling in favor of a nothing burger Pac-2? Why? At some point is it not time that Common Sense and Playoff sense, even in these days, comes to the forefront? Rob with an Org Chart that would never fly in the real world comes up with THIS? I'll take half of Rob's salary, $500K instead of $1M, and cut one third of the work force and give the people reporting to me a 33% salary bump, improve productivity, and show Rob his jock. INCLUDING playing a P4 opponent at home insted of playing a CFB lost-in-space Oregon State OR State in Corvallis. And you cannot be serious? Reschedule Hawaii to the first Off Week and play nine games in a row? If I'm Danno I'm not a happy camper. My earlier posts about about Oregon having 2 Off Weeks regardless, and I apologize to those who raised the issue, if I am wrong, is a further condemnation of Rob who has put his name into play for the UGA and A+M AD jobs. SM old H.
  21. This would be INSANE! But surprising?
  22. Below is a 2024 CFB Top-24 (plus a team to be named later) Ranking based upon Bet MGM Odds to win the 2024/25 CFB Championship. A $100 bet would pay out the amount following a ranking. I have sorted teams with the same odds by their 2023/24 finish. I do not know the odds of George Kliavkoff returning to MGM for employment. Based upon his record as the Pac-12 Commish, if GK wants to be rehired he best join the Culinary Union. 😍 1. Georgia - 480 - UGA 1 and Bama 2? Shocking! No. 1 recruiting class. 2. Alabama - 550 - No. 2 recruiting class. The Dixieland beat goes on. 3. Ohio State - 600 - Oregon brings the conference's best QB into the B1G. Gets tOSU in Autzen. Hmmm? 4. Texas - 850 - New Year's Day - does Sark defeat his former employer? 5. Michigan - 1000 - The core of the Wolverines team is leaving Ann Arbor. Jim? 6. OREGON - 1100 - My LV friends and I have $500 down on OBD. I like these odds. 7. LSU - 1400 - Merely have to find a D and replace the Heisman winner. 8. FSU - 1900 - What are the odds of winning the Get Out of the ACC Jail Free lawsuit? 9. Notre Dame - 2200 - Dear Domers, Join a conference or play 13 regular season games! 10. Clemson - 2500 - Game 1 is vs. Georgia in Atlanta. And Tyler from Spartanburg wants Dabo's job? 11. Penn State - 2600 - Can Franklin get over the Michigan, Ohio State and OREGON hurdle? 12. Ole Miss - The Portal King is Portaling and has a favorable 2024/25 schedule. 13. Texas A+M - I wish I could short the Aggies. All Hat, No Cattle. 14. USC - 3200 - Is it Miller Time? 15. Oklahoma - 3500 - I think Sark is ready for the SEC. The Sooners? 16. Washington - 5000 - Going down? Recruits? Basement level. 17. Tennessee - Another team whose PO chances are being thrown out with the Wash. 18. Miami - 7000 - And Double Secret Double Short Mario. 19. Missouri - 10,000 - Looks like someone sees these Tigers being declawed. But easiest SEC schedule. 20. Louisville - LOL! Heck of a Holiday! 21. Utah - I see a QB a-Rising. 22. Arizona - 12,000 - Cats comin' with more than a CBB team and Primetime bluster. 23. Kansas State -The Little Wildcat that Could chugs on. 24. Auburn - Now able to legally pay the players, Freeze is heating up. 25. Left Out By Vegas - Do you have a candidate? Holy Vandy! SEC - 10 teams! B1G - 6 teams. What? No Iowa? GO DUCKS! Extinguish the Flames!of
  23. As Charles says, Greatness Appears Early. I again congratulate Charles for early on calling out Mario, a guy who can recruit but cannot coach. Pour all the NIL sugar you like on Miami recruits and it will not matter. And the games played in the Dolphins stadium often resemble a crypt. I'm not certain anyone will ever be able to return Miami to the days of glory playing in the falling down Orenge Bowl. Call Time Out Baby!
  24. Thank You, David. Two 2023 influential team moments to recall. Two great snapshots in a far B1Gger picture.
  25. The Sooners missed a certain starting QB in this game. On the way out the door, the Pac-12 defeated Texas and Oklahoma back-to-back in San Antonio. AZ is bringing more than a CBB team into the B12.
