  1. Peterson: The ceiling for each Big Ten team in 2024 SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Setting the ceiling for each Big Ten team in 2024. The Two Os both have a 12-0 ceiling. And here Is the Big Tradition's take on the 5 most difficult out-of-conference schedules. Hammerin’ the B1G: Ranking the B1G’s 5 hardest nonconference schedules in 2024 SATURDAYTRADITION.COM These key nonconference schedules will play a major role in the race to the College Football Playoff. No Os on this list.
  2. PAWALLLL, say it ain't so! Ohio State is Number 1. WOW! https://athlonsports.com/college-football/big-ten/paul-finebaum-ohio-state-buckeyes-are-preseason-no-1-team-in-college-football-entering-2024-season
  3. Not so long ago, would anyone believe that Oregon would be a B1G Beast? Spring overreactions from each Way-Too-Early Top 25 college football team - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM From Heisman candidates to a potential No. 1 NFL draft pick. Here are post-spring ball overreactions from each top 25 team.
  4. The ACC vs. Florida State and Clemson: Untangling a realignment clash in court THEATHLETIC.COM Everyone agrees that if FSU and/or Clemson are successful in court in nullifying a grant of rights, the results could be paradigm-shifting. Under a different set of facts, Maryland sued the ACC when it joined the B1G to reduce the amount of the exit fee and 'won' the settlement of the case by lowering the exit fee from $52M to $31.3M. Maryland had to pay hefty legal fees but not close to what it 'saved' by litigating. As the author of this article at least implies, what happens if Clemson and FSU escape and UNC, Miami, UVA, and others follow suit but the B1G and the SEC decide not to expand? The Nielson rankings for the average viewership of college football during the regular season (Oregon finished 7th with 4.43M viewers) have FSU at No. 9, 4.16M, Notre Dame 10th, 4.15M, Clemson 19th, 2.90M, Miami 22nd, 2.65M, and Duke 23rd at 2.64M. UNC is not in the top 32 ranked teams. Neither is UVA. The other ACC team in the top 32 is Louisville, 29th ranked. FSU is close to gaining AAU membership but is not an AAU member. Clemson and Louisville are not an AAU member school. Miami, Duke, and UNC are AAU members. AAU membership will likely continue to matter for the B1G school presidents. The expansion no-brainer for the B1G is Notre Dame. Notre Dame is committed through 2036 if it joins a conference to join the ACC. But will this be enforceable if the ACC falls apart? The SEC has member institutions in Florida and South Carolina but not in North Carolina. Would it be immediately accretive for the SEC to add UNC, Clemson, Miami, or FSU? If not, what discount would ACC teams accept to join the SEC? Although the ACC's deal with ESPN runs through 2036, in 2025 ESPN has the option to continue the ACC deal, or not. Behind the scenes, ESPN and Fox will likely influence expansion decisions as was the case with Oklahoma and Texas and the Pac-4 to the B1G.
  5. October 12, 2024 - Ohio State will be a very tough out. ESPN's 2025 NFL mock draft has 6 Buckeyes going in the 1st round. Six Ohio State players featured in way-too-early 2025 NFL mock draft BUCKEYESWIRE.USATODAY.COM Time to look ahead already … #GoBucks
  6. Oregon has the 2nd best odds of winning the title in the Ducks first season in the B1G. July 25, 2024 - 3rd day of B1G football media days is when Dan Lanning has the stage. Not half a day's coverage like we saw in the Pac-12 but 3 days of coverage on BTN (Big Ten Network.) This B1G coverage. Coverage that now rivals the media days coverage of the SEC on the SEC Network. It's nice to be a member of the Power 2. Big Ten Conference Football Championship Odds After College Football Spring Games WWW.SI.COM The Oregon Ducks football team has one of the best odds to win the Big Ten Championship, with the expansion to 18 teams for the 2024 college football season.
  7. A CBS hats off for Danno's portal picking. Oregon transfer class jumps to No. 2 after landing Alabama S Peyton Woodyard, Michigan State DT Derrick Harmon - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The Ducks had a huge weekend as Dan Lanning continues to add talent through the transfer portal
  8. Another take on how the settlement of the House case could lead to revenue sharing. College football revenue sharing could arrive as part of $2.7 billion NCAA settlement FANSIDED.COM It seems as though the NCAA could be agreeing to a settlement in the landmark case House vs. NCAA lawsuit in the near future. ESPN's Pete Thamel and Dan Murphy
  9. Last season the LSU D resembled the LA D. This is why Brian Kelly paid $2.5M for the Mizzou DC to move to Baton Rouge. The SC D looked to be improved, how could it be worse, in the Spring game? LSU's D still looked lost. I think the opener in Vegas could go either way. It will be interesting to see which school has the greater number of fans in attendance.
  10. With Penn State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin in LA and Minnesota, Maryland, UCLA, and UW, in addition to Michigan on the road, I think SC has a shot at finishing 9-3 or perhaps, 10-2. No Ohio State and no Oregon on the schedule and I think Lynn will make a difference as the DC. The skill player speed advantage SC had over Louisville in the Holiday Bowl will be there in the B1G except for Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and Michigan. I also think that SC has a shot to defeat Notre Dame in LA. SC has a Blue Chip roster and the majority of B1G teams do not.
  11. Sake and sushi for all! Thanks for the post.
  12. Get ready for The Battle of The Os. Ohio State emerges as big winner from spring transfer portal window SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Ohio State is ready for the 2024 season after the Buckeyes made it through spring practices and the spring transfer portal window.
  13. Oregon athletics are already being covered in detail by BTN (Big Ten Network) and Saturday Tradition, the B1G's 'Saturday site.' Far better coverage than was ever authored by Larry's Loser Network. Breaking down Bo Nix’s rookie passing props SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Breaking down some of the available bets for Bo Nix's rookie season with the Denver Broncos.
  14. If I could turn back time? I'd go back to the days of the Pac-8 and Big Ten when the Run for the Roses was paramount. When we had four bowl games a team had to be excellent, not mediocre, to play in the postseason. When games were played in the sunshine. (Caveat - I would not like to go back to the days of having one game broadcast on most Saturdays. On occasion, two games were broadcast. And I do like color TV.) To the best of my knowledge, no one passed away from CFB having more than one 'true champion.'
  15. SC has supposedly upped its NIL game, but the Trojan's House of Victory, (YUCK, YUCK!) collective cannot carry Division Street's jock. Uncle Phil is far from the only contributor to Division Street.
  16. Mudslide, has anyone, anywhere spoken Trojan (Lydian) since April 24, 1183 BC? It's Greek to me. Is no one in South Central able to see the irony in having a horse for a mascot? Holy Odysseus!
  17. Great comment. The system DG played in at Oklahoma and the system run by Will Stein are comparable. If allowed to do so, and with a better group of backup QBs I hope he is allowed to do so, DG is as much of a run threat as Bo. Not as big but with more 'wiggle.' In 2023, along with completing 69.3% of his passes for 360 yards + 30 TDs with only 6 picks, DG rushed 93 times for 393 yards (4.0 average) and a team-high 12 TDS, 2nd most nationally for QBs.
  18. Dillon Gabriel - Oklahoma Sooners Quarterback - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM View the profile of Oklahoma Sooners Quarterback Dillon Gabriel on ESPN. Get the latest news, live stats and game highlights. Stay healthy (knock wood) and Dillion will break Bo's record for the number of starts by a college QB. To date, Dillon has thrown 125 TD passes and thrown for over 10,000 yards. Gabriel, not Texas's Quinn Ewers, or K State's, now at Ohio State, Will Howard, was the 2023 1st team All-B12 QB. Has a QB who was P4 all conference ever transferred to another program? I doubt it. At Oklahoma Dillon played under OC Jeff Lebby, now the HC at Mississippi State. Like Will Stein, Lebby runs an RPO-heavy O. One of the takeaways from the spring game was how well James and Harris ran the ball. The WRs are legit. The TE, with a few drops in the game but no biggie, is in great hands with Ferguson and deep with Sadiq and Herbert. I cannot wait to watch DG play behind one of the better OLs in CFB and I think he has a great chance to equal or exceed Bo's 2023 numbers.
  19. A $cam sighting. The first guy on the NIL train, courtesy of Pops, who recently threw Brock Purdy under the bus. Fun to ponder, thanks. Tempus dicet: 'The season will say.'
  20. The Buckeyes 2024 schedule is getting a well-earned roasting. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/ohio-state-roasted-social-media-for-easy-2024-college-football-schedule
  21. The Athletic likes what Ohio State has pulled from the portal. How Ohio State won the college football offseason with a new NIL approch THEATHLETIC.COM Inside Ohio State's newfound aggressive approach to talent acquisition and retention after three consecutive losses to rival Michigan. Did tOSU 'win' the portal off-season? Very debatable IMO. 247 Sports does not have the Buckeyes close to No. 1. Ole Miss is No. 1 and OBD is 2nd. Ohio State is 8th. However, like Michigan last season, tOSU used NIL to return all highly-ranked projected draft choices other than WR Marvin Harrison. 2024 and likely many seasons thereafter will see a B1G Battle of the Os.
  22. With a 12-team playoff, does a team schedule up OOC, or schedule down? The same questions apply to the B1G as apply to the SEC but with nine conference games instead of eight the concerns are not on par. SEC nonconference scheduling, like the conference schedule, is in flux THEATHLETIC.COM SEC teams' nonconference scheduling is in a holding pattern while they wait to see what the conference schedule format will be.
  23. Number 6, or perhaps number 1, the schedule. Ohio State has the 57th most difficult 2024 schedule; Oregon's schedule is ranked the 11th most difficult. Before the champ game in Indianapolis on 12/2, the Ducks have no control over the outcome of SC's and Penn State's record. Penn State misses Michigan and like Oregon, plays Ohio State at home. SC misses Ohio State and Oregon and plays Penn State and Wisconsin in LA. Great take and I am glad to see that you included SC in the mix. I do not believe Iowa is a true contender but the Hawkeyes and Wisconsin have approximately the same odds to win the Big Ten in 2024.
  24. Yahoo Sports article on B1G 2024 out-of-conference games. "Most bitter game during the 2024 season? Easy winner: Oregon at Oregon State." Bob Asmussen | Which Big Ten football teams are ready for a challenge? SPORTS.YAHOO.COM May 4—CHAMPAIGN — Big Ten football teams have no say in their conference schedules. They get what they get. Will it be unfair to some? Probably. Feel free to shop for another league with a...
