  1. Defense - SDSU, Fresno, UNLV. Do not let Yack, yack Yarmack, and the B12 into the Pacific time zone. Offense - SMU, UTSA, Tulane - Add Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, and New Orleans markets. It is Moneyball time. IMO, academics have to be 2nd to the conference continuing to exist. The above 6 schools would bring in the 2022 AAC, CUSA, and Mountain West football champs.
  2. PA Duck. Just want to thank you for all of the terrific posts you put up on the OBD Forum. THANK YOU!
  3. I'm surprised that Oregon among other teams did not object to a Mountain West team, Utah, joining the conference as an equal share member.
  4. The two QBs who started in the Super Bowl both played a lot of baseball.
  5. I know whereof you speak. Back in the day, I missed the bus.
  6. FYI - Prior to CU and Utah joining the conference the Pac-10 had unequal revenue sharing. Larry took the Pac-12 to equal revenue sharing. Being academia the vote to go to equal shares was unanimous but USC made it clear at the time that it was not happy with receiving an equal share. Had the Pac-10 distribution remainded in place perhaps SC/UCLA would have stayed in the conference.
  7. "FishBaitSolutions?" Does Charles have a Trademark case?
  8. This is a problem for the entire "Power 3." College football realignment -- Inside ACC's big money battle WWW.ESPN.COM With ACC powers Florida State and Clemson making more noise about a revenue gap with the SEC and Big Ten, realignment rumors are running rampant despite a long-term TV deal.
  9. As Charles has so accurately pointed out streaming could lead to fewer viewrs today but far more viewers down the road. Especially, when switching apps becomes far easier as will happen.
  10. FSU and Clemson have already 'jumped the gun.' Very good and very accurate post.
  11. CFB starting with BCS and then the playoff (soon to expand for more $) has been fully monetized. No wonder certain schools, FSU and Clemson for example, are asking for a bigger slice of the pie in a capitalized sport that distributes income to conference members in an "equal" manner. If Wake Forest was to receive a lesser cut than Clemson and FSU where is it going to go to make more money? I think we will see more FSU-Clemson demands as the B1G and the SEC continue to distance themselves financially from the P3. I don't like it but money rules the roost today in CFB and CBB.
  12. Frankly, I think this is sick and sickening. No wonder kids come out of HS as hat-shifting prima donnas. What happens come the next signing day when his parents or guardians sign an LOI on this kid's behalf? Does Oregon need this kind of publicity? This is straight out of the Lane Kiffin playbook.
  13. The Ducks most certainly could use an addition(s) to the TE room.
  14. New NCAA president Baker, in an interview with the Athletic, admitted that he has no concrete ideas as to how to control NIL. (BTW, Baker is not relocating to NCAA HQ in Indianapolis.) He wants 'full NIL disclosure' but has no regulatory plan because of the litigation concerns. I have no idea what happened to the Transition Committee co-chaired by the SEC's Greg Sankey. Most pundits believed that the committee would recommend that the P5 and G5 regulate CFB and CBB on their own. So far nothing. This means the NCAA is still the regulating body for over 1100 schools from P5 down to D3. Impossible to align the athletic goals of D3 institutions with Ohio State and the other big P5 programs. I see NIL being unregulated until there is a representative body of athletes with which to negotiate. However, who or what will be doing the negotiating for 'management?'
  15. This is more than a trend IMO. I expect that the 'big boys' in all conferences will soon want a bigger piece of the media pie.
  16. Very good take Darren in response to David's very good take. Thank you both. I think in a very short time that switching from one streaming app to another will be far easier. The streaming sites want to protect their turf but more importantly want new subscribers. I believe it is this desire that will foster making viewing easier and lifting all streaming boats.
  17. Totally agree with this POV Charles. $500K to become a member of Division Street so I will be remaining on the outside looking in.
  18. Absolutely agree and that's why I believe that realistic potential partners are disclosed to the media prior to a deal being finalised. I'm certain that this was the case with ESPN in regard to OK/TX and FOX with SC/UCLA. I believe the networks had a great deal of influence in engineering both transactions.
  19. LOVE THIS COMMENT! Is GK savvy enough in the college sports arena to negotiate the best deal? Are school presidents business people? Heck no. I know that GK has a consultant working with him; I sure wish that former B1G commissioner Jim Delaney, now a consultant, was helping out. I also think it would be prudent for GK to first run the new deal by Oregon and Phil Knight and UW and its equivalent of Phil Knight. These two schools are now the cornerstone of the conference and need to be fully committed to whatever the new deal might be. If this means a bigger slice of the pie for Oregon than for Washington State so be it. If a plan for disparate revenue shares had been in place perhaps USC would still be in the conference. I wonder how long SC, Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State are going to be happy getting the same share as Northwestern?
  20. In a way, I think the conference showed its hand with the (dreaded?) we are all-in and no one is leaving statement? Hopefully this declaration holds up.
  21. However, the media folks buying inventory have to know which schools and their respective location is in the mix, no? If Houston for example was 'a silent partner' I think GK and the media provider(s) would want to know that the Houston media market was in the mix.
  22. Thanks, Darren. As always the proof will be in the pudding. GK was dealt a bad hand let's see what he will do with it.
  23. Charles, please good Sir if at all possible attend the Ducks/Trojans game and honor us with a blow-by-blow in-person description of the game. I expect this will be Autzen at its craziest and loudest. As noted earlier the manner in which any number of SC fans are trolling the Pac-10 is obnoxious and intolerable.
  24. The ACC media deal is terrible! I do not see it holding up through its end date of 2036? I believe these are coordinated shots by 2 of the ACC's power programs across the ACC bow as these 2 schools would be welcome by the SEC (over the objections of Florida and South Carolina) at any time they are available. I think we will see more of 'this?' How long will Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and yes, USC, be happy with getting the same cut as Rutgers and Northwestern?
  25. UTSA won the CUSA title which put UTSA in a position to move up to the AAC. UTSA lost its bowl game to Sun Belt champion Troy but it was a heck of a game.
