  1. Looks like the CFB Playoff in 2024 and 2025 will stay with the 6 champion automatic qualifiers and 6 at large, with the top 4 conference champs receiving a 1st round bye. Using the latest AP Poll the top 4 seeds, when accounting for conference realignment would be: 1. Georgia - SEC 2. Michigan - B10 3. FSU - ACC 4. Utah - B12 At large - 5, Texas/ 6. Ohio State/ 7. Penn State/ 8. Washington/ 9. USC/ 10. Oregon/ 11. Washington State - MW/ 12. NR Tulane - AAC Wazzu would knock out 11. Notre Dame. Tulane would knock out 12. Alabama. This is why the 2026 format will likely be a 16-team field seeded in accordance with the final playoff committee rankings with one spot guaranteed for the G5. Stay with a 12-team field in 2026 with the top 4 ranked teams receiving a 1st-round bye regardless of conference affiliation, and with 1 G5 team in the mix, the top 4 would be : 1. Georgia/ 2. Michigan/ 3. Texas/ 4. Ohio State = 2 SEC teams and 2 B1G teams. Including UW, USC, and Oregon, 6 B1G teams would be in the field with 2 SEC teams, Georgia and Texas in the field. College Football Playoff rumors: Rampant realignment won’t change the 12-team format FANSIDED.COM As Oregon State and Washington State try to figure out their future, it seems like the CFP will not change their system regardless of what happens.
  2. Oregon vs. Stanford Prediction, Odds, Trends and Key Players for CFB Week 5 FANSIDED.COM Despite all the hype around Colorado, Oregon showed the country why the Ducks are a College Football Playoff contender with a Heisman Trophy candidate in Bo Nix
  3. Oregon golfer Wyndham Clark is a member of the 12-man USA Ryder Cup team going against Europe this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Rome, Italy. For those of you too intelligent to play this stupid game, let it be known that this is a huge honor for any golfer. Rather than total strokes being used to determine the winner, the Ryder Cup is a competition between 2 man teams from each side on Friday and Saturday, with 12 singles matches on Sunday. The matches are determined by the number of holes won and not the total score so it is mano on mano. Wyndham joins Peter Jacobsen, a Ryder Cup team member in 1985 and 1995, as to only two Oregon golfers to play in golf's most prestigious team event. (I believe Jake will be part of the broadcast team.) Broadcast Dates and Times - All times Eastern Friday - 9/29 - USA Network - 1:30 AM to Noon Saturday 9/30 - 1:30 AM to 3 AM - USA/ 3 AM to 6 PM - NBC Sunday - 10/1 - 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM - NBC So, tee up the recorder and take a break from Reese, Dez, Herbie, Lee, and Pat McAfee ( a guy who reminds me of a hormonally challenged teenager about to go on his first date) and watch some golf before tuning in to watch the Ducks chop down a tree. USA! USA! USA! PS - I am not a fan of Wyndham's below ranking and I hope he proves this golf analyst wrong. 2023 Ryder Cup teams: Ranking all 24 golfers for the United States and Europe in Rome - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The Europeans have the top three players, but are the Americans better from top to bottom?
  4. Thanks, David. 12.6M viewers is a pretty significant silent majority, More eyeballs on CU at Oregon than on the Ohio State - Notre Dame game, FSU at Clemson, and every SEC game. And Oregon received a boatload of coverage this week on ESPN and other football carrier networks both before and after the game. Yeah, a few fools called Dan Lanning out but Dan received kudos from the majority of talking heads. 5 of the Ducks next 7 games are against currently top 25 ranked teams. Just win (easy for me to say) and plenty of pub will be coming in the direction of Puddles. Week 7, at UW. Week 8, vs. Wazzu. Week 9, at Utah. The PO Committee's 1st ranking comes out on Halloween after week 9. This is when you want to be at or near the top of the class. SC is getting the LA brand name treatment. USC's SOS to date, is 127. Lower than Georgia (108) and Michigan (118) teams that have likewise played against thin air. Saturday in South Bend, USC would have been punched in the mouth and punched out. SC is still featuring the Grinch Matador Defense. UW? Folks dig the long ball. UW has yet to play a team that can pressure Penix. And UW's run game has been average at best. Lots of football left to be played and the Ducks will have their day, including perhaps a visit by Dan and Bo to NYC, if Oregon continues to put up Ws.
  5. 987? 2 more people signed up? Kidding! Love the comment. Stanford drop football? If a Tree falls in the forest ...
  6. WOW! Thank you Prime Time! Last season this game would have kicked off at 10:30 Eastern on the Network no one can find. Ohio State and Notre Dame, please take a back seat.
  7. Crit, since the playoff began, I don't think a 1L Pac-12 conference champ has been left out. I think the only 1L conference champs left out were Baylor and TCU in year one.
  8. DanL, historically, at least in the last decade or two, you are spot on my friend. However, notwithstanding Lee Corso's comments in regard to no one watching the 'Pac-2 champ game' played in Pullman last Saturday, the media is not ignoring the Pac-12 this season. 10M+ (thanks Prime) watched the Ducks beat down the Buffs on ABC, not the Pac-12 network that has slightly more than 10M subscribed viewers, the national media is buying in. Barrett Sallee at CBS Sports is one of many who have the Pac-12 ranked as the top conference to date in 2023. It's still a 4 team playoff field so 2Ls and you are out but IF and this is a big IF, a Pac-12 team running a 9-game gauntlet in this conference this season finishes 12-1, that team is a playoff lock. Yes, CU with its first loss dropped out of the top 25 but TCU is not the 2022 TCU, Nebraska is a bad football team, and Colorado State was blown out at home by Wazzu. UCLA? The Bruins were 3-0 because UCLA had played no one. But UCLA is still right up there in the AP poll ORV and if UCLA defeats WA ST in LA, UCLA will move back into the top 25, and if the game is competitive, I see WSU remaining in the top 25. My dream? #2 FSU meets #3 Oregon in the Rose Bowl, a rematch of the 1st playoff game ever played, and Oregon tunes up FSU the same way it did Jameis, Jimbo, and FSU back in Marcus' Heisman Trophy season. And who knows? Another Heisman winner, Bodacious, could be QBing the Ducks in this hoped-for hypothetical game. The Left Coast is, ironically, on the nation's radar screen in 2023, and with many top 25 vs. top 25 Pac-12 matchups coming up, the conference will not disappear before 10 members say so long in 2024.
  9. First, thank you Charles and all of the moderators for working to get OBD back up. We are blessed with a great site and great members; I've missed your articles, posts, and comments. Let us all not mess this opportunity up. Bill Connelly, ESPN+ (paywall) ranks the undefeated teams through Week 4 (one-third of the regular season is already gone? Wow!) and also shows each undefeated team SP+ strength of schedule (SOS) to date. Moving to a 12-team playoff in 2024 makes it more imperative, IMO, for the playoff committee to use and adhere to a publically disclosed SOS format and not allow every committee member to use their eye test. Look at the SOS rankings to date and you will see how disparate are CFB schedules. A few teams have tested themselves and others have played against thin air. In addition to showing a team's ranking and SOS, I have used Conolly's SP+ index, as did Bill in the original article, to show the next game a ranked team faces with less than a 75% SP+ probability to win the game. I have also taken the liberty of re-ranking the Top 10 undefeated based on SOS to date. 1. Washington - (94) - Week 7 vs. OREGON 2. Georgia - (108) - Week 12 (!) at Tennessee (The schedule was a breeze without the SEC being down.) 3. Ohio State - (53) - Week 8 vs. Penn State 4. Michigan - (118) SMH -Week 11 at Penn State (Michigan has two regular season battles. In its next 7 games, OREGON plays 5 teams currently ranked in the AP Poll Top 25. But it's a fair fight for the final Final 4, right?) 5. OREGON - (99) - Week 7 at UW (the Ducks move up from Week 3 ranking of #11. 2nd in scoring O and 15th in scoring D.) 6. Texas - (41) - Week 6 vs. Oklahoma - But AP #24 Kansas may not be a pushover this Saturday in Austin. 7. Oklahoma - (98) - Week 6 vs. Texas 8. Penn State - (72) - Week 8 at Ohio State 9. Florida State - (29) - Week 7 vs. Syracuse 10. USC - (127) - Double SMH - Week 7 at Notre Dame 11. Miami (70) - Week 7 at UNC 12. Utah (17) - Week 5 (Friday night FS1 at 9 Eastern) at Oregon State 13. Duke - (85) - Week 5 vs. Notre Dame - Hello, College Gameday! And it's not yet CBB season. 14. UNC - (77) - Week 6 vs. Syracuse 15. Syracuse - (128) Shame on you, Orange! - Week 5 vs. Clemson 16. Louisville (126) - Week 5 at NC State 17. Kentucky (130) SEC, SEC, SEC! - Week 5 vs. Florida (BTW, for sustained mediocrity, Mark Stoops is paid $8.6M a year.) 18. Washington State - (51) - Week 6 at UCLA (No easy day in the Pac-12!) 19. Missouri - (59) - Week 6 vs. LSU 20. Kansas - (96) - Week 5 at Texas (Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Louisville, Kentucky, and Kansas - Is it oblong ball or round ball season?) 21. Maryland - (119) - Week 6 at Ohio State Top 10 By SOS - 1. Utah - 17 2. FSU - 29 3. Texas - 41 4. Wazzu - 51 5. Ohio State - 53 6. Mizzou - 59 7. Miami - 70 8. Penn State - 72 9. UNC - 77 10. Duke - 85 One thing is for certain, Pac-12 contenders SOS will be moving on up.
  10. Oregon vs. Colorado prediction, pick, spread, football game odds, live stream, watch online, TV channel - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The undefeated Buffaloes travel to play their first top-10 opponent in 2023
  11. The Pac-12 2023 - The Conference of QBs AZ - Jayden de Laura - WSU ASU - Drew Pyne - Notre Dame Cal - Sam Jackson -TCU/ Ben Finley - NC State CU - Sanders - Jax State UW - Penix - Indiana WSU - Cam Ward - Incarnate Word OR ST - DJU - Clemson OREGON - Bo Nix - Auburn USC - Caleb Williams - Oklahoma Utah - Rising - Texas UCLA - Colin Schlee - Kent State (Of course, Dante Moore, sigh, is now the starter.) This is just a sampling of the impact transfers have had. Charles is spot on. The coaching is far better. Schools have opened the wallet and DeBoer at UW and Dickert at WSU appear to be very good hires. And Deion? Viewership for CU is up 820% from 2022.
  12. Correct. My geography knowledge is not encyclopedic, but it is decent. My comment was a take on my friend Mike West being quoted as saying Deion did not change the HBCU game at Jaz State. I demur. I think he very much lifted the country's awareness of HBCU ball. And hats off to him for doing so.
  13. It's going to take a lot of work tracking how 6M+ (HUXXAH!) viewers feel about the contest at the game's end. BD, Before Deion, this game would have been lucky to draw 600K viewers kicking off at 10:30 Eastern on Larry's Lost Network. I just hope the lead-in game on ABC, FSU at Clemson, does not run far beyond the allotted 3-hour (what a joke) broadcast time. I hate it when the game is picked up in the middle of the 1st Q.
  14. He did manage to get College Gameday on an HBCU campus. And he lifted the nation's recognition of HBCU football teams.
  15. Oregon has a QB. The most experienced in CFB. Bama?
  16. This year, WYO may be better than Bama?
  17. David, and here I had you pegged to make a return to the NFL! I'm rooting for you. Lots of milkshakes, weight lifting, and Puddles-like push-ups could do the job.
  18. Ole Miss +7 at Bama. Saint Nick's fairy dust has disappeared seemingly overnight. But look closer and you'll see that last season even with Bryce Young at QB, Bama could have easily lost 5 games. You biff on QB evaluations and the assistant coaching turnover finally has a negative impact (Tommy Rees?) and it's free fall and not a gradual descent.
  19. Viewer numbers for the Buffaloes are up 820% (!) from 2022. Amazing what one great hire can do. Colorado Buffaloes are America's Team FANSIDED.COM When Coach Prime took over the football program in Boulder, there were plenty of folks who scoffed. Some said his experience at a major division one program wou
  20. Pac-12 teams a-hurtin'? No school has been dinged this season worse than Utah. Losing your starting center hurts but as noted above, so long as Penix has the 3 amigos to throw to it will be tough to hold the Husky's down. Utah is down a lot of starters including, both starting OTs injured last week to add to Rising, 2022's 2 best receivers, 2 best DL guys, 2 starting DBs, and 2 RBs. BUT, they'll probably all be good to go when Puddles trips to SLC. It's going to take all of the Mighty Muss and Whit's coaching to upset UCLA on Saturday. UCLA did defeat Utah last season as did Oregon. But Utah is 25 and 26 in its last 26 home games and has won 14 in a row at Rice-Eccolls. The Utes win over Florida is looking better with UF's decisive win against Tennessee last Saturday. Man, this conference in its closing act is a Witch!
  21. You play older guys when: Guys go on missions; or, you tap the portal like tapping a keg of the finest IPA nectar. I believe 'our guy,' Bodacious, has more starts than any QB in CFB including ND's Sam Hartman. And Cam McCormick is asking the NCAA to allow him to play his 9th (!!!!!!!!!) season of college ball. Calling Doctor McCormick, emergency in South Beach!
  22. According to ESPN''s College Football Live betting guru, covering the -21 will be easy peasy. He has the Ducks -21 and predicts an easy cover. I am down on Puddles at -19.5 so I love this prediction. Puddles my fine feathered friend, do more push-ups! BTW. I am a sorry one game under .500 for the season. But better than ESPN's other gaming guru, Stanford Steve. But I should be better. I went to a better college than Steveo. (Yuck, Yuck!)
  23. 1-11 to a bowl game, at least, will be one heck of an accomplishment.
  24. Compared to an (undeserved/ should have been McCaffery) Heisman winner. DL is going out of his way to pour a little sugar on CU.
