  1. In 2027, OBD plays at Michigan and plays Ohio State and Penn State in Autzen. Oregon only plays six home games in 2027. IMO, Mullens should buy out of the Baylor series and play Portland State and not Tennessee, in Autzen. Play the Vols in a game that will be remembered in the playoff and not in the regular season.
  2. Tennessee's umbrage over the late cancellation date is understandable, but Nebraska's cancellation of the series is also understandable. In 2023-24, champion Michigan played three G5 teams out-of-conference, all games in Ann Arbor. In 2024-25, champion Ohio State played three G5 teams out-of-conference, all in Columbus. In 2025-26, Penn State will play two G5 teams and an FCS team out-of-conference, all in Happy Valley. In 2024, Tennessee played Chattanooga, Kent State, and UTEP out-of-conference, all in Knoxville. In 2025, Tennessee will play ETSU, UAB, and New Mexico State out-of-conference with all games in Knoxville. In 2024, The Vols also played NC State in Charlotte. In 2025, Tennessee opens against Syracuse in Atlanta. With these two games, the Vols played nine P4 teams in 2024, and with Syracuse in the opener, will play nine P4 teams in 2025. Regardless of the teams Nebraska plays out-of-conference, it will play nine P4 games every season. Regardless of the opponent, Nebraska will sell out every home game. Based on the current playoff format and the vagaries of the playoff committee, why should Nebraska test itself out-of-conference? Ole Miss was supposed to open at USC in 2025, but the teams mutually agreed to cancel the two-game series. Wake Forest after being blasted at home last season by Ole Miss, bought its way out of the return game in Oxford. This infuriated Lane Kiffin. What's good for the goose isn't good for the gander? In 2025, Ole Miss will entertain Georgia State, Tulane, Washington State, and The Citadel. In 2025, Ole Miss will play eight P4 opponents. If Ole Miss goes 9-3, Kiffin will still beef about not making the playoff. I pay no attention to selective umbrage over a team's out-of-conference opponents. If Ohio State played Texas State in 2025 instead of Texas, and if Michigan played Tulsa at home instead of playing at Oklahoma, at 10-2 both teams would be playoff locks. IMO, it's better and smarter to play top competition in your conference and the playoff. Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas, will not receive a penny more in revenue by going large out-of-conference and all four teams sell out every home game no matter the opponent. My Ducks dream out-of-conference schedule season after season: Home vs. Portland State, a G5 opponent not named Boise State in Autzen, and one of Cal or Stanford. Let Iron Sharpen Iron in the postseason.
  3. Not a good look for the Pac-7 and Gonzo with Fresno State basketball under investigation for gambling; players are accused of point shaving. Texas State. These Bobcats really move the needle, right? 🦨 How about no more games against and helping out self-righteous Oregon State, now litigating to cancel a deal it entered into with the Mountain West in the last year?
  4. When the Super Conference comes about, a players' union will negotiate restraints on transfer, team salary caps (no cap on NIL deals,) rules regarding eligibility, roster size, etc. Rosters will significantly shrink. A high school draft will rein in coach's salaries. The Super Conference will in part at least, directly market its game inventory to the public as does the NFL Network. The Super Conference will stream much of its inventory. Money from networks will be an important part of the cash flow but the Super Conference negotiating collectively and not piecemeal conference by conference, will retain greater control over its product including control of a post-season playoff without bowl sites being involved. This will come about in the early 2030s if not sooner. With the possible exception of Men's Basketball, conferences will exist for other sports with non-revenue sports aligned geographically. Private equity may be involved but I believe the Super Conference will be able to raise sufficient capital without having to trade equity. Do I like this? I prefer college football to be played in the sunshine on Saturday afternoons, with the Run for the Roses being the ultimate goal. However, and as is often the case, I could be WRONG. 😁

  6. The Ducks comeback win in Mad City defied all odds. ESPN BET reveals insane win probability, odds Oregon overcame to beat Wisconsin WWW.YARDBARKER.COM With 7:31 to go in Saturday’s game against Wisconsin, Oregon center Nate Bittle missed a jump shot. At that point, the Ducks trailed by 15 points – the largest deficit of the second half.
  7. Michigan has a B1G schedule that could lead to success but do the Wolverines have sufficient depth? Does Michigan have the depth to make a College Football Playoff run? WWW.MAIZENBREW.COM Michigan had plenty of depth in 2023 to win the national championship, With guys like Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant headed to the NFL, how are the Wolverines looking depth-wise... It's rare for Michigan and Ohio State to come into a season with terrific vibes. Interesting that the Buckeyes play Texas in Week 1 and the Wolverines play Oklahoma in Norman in Week 2.
  8. Spot On, Mike. BTW, I believe the coaches are being 'fairly well' compensated, right? All of the woofing coaches are desperate for a bid to a postseason tournament that will send them hither and yon to play ball. What was John Wooden's top salary? What would these guys have done in the days when one had to travel by train?

SATURDAYBLITZ.COM The 2024 season was a smashing success for the Big Ten conference. The Big Ten boldly staked its claim as the premier conference in college football, putting fo
  12. Thank you, Charles, for the suburb editing job. I will have a future article with more specificity on OBD's 12 regular-season opponents. If Moore is more than pedestrian at QB and the transfer pieces of the puzzle fit, OBD will be in the mix for back-to-back conference titles and hopefully, a deeper run in the 2025-25 playoff. Is it August 30th yet?
  13. Smart traveling. Iowa on Wednesday and Wisconsin today with a tip-off designed to have the Ducks home at a reasonable hour. OBD arrived in the Midwest on Tuesday and departed on Saturday, and the players from a distance did not miss a class. Perhaps the B1G could tighten up the game days?

  15. My guess, it's Game On for OBD. The Spring Game on 4/26/25 will be played one day after the second portal window closes. Is Oregon Ducks spring game in jeopardy following recent cancelations? DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Oregon Ducks have announced the date for their annual spring game in 2025, but will it stand amidst the recent cancelations?
  16. Dee-Fence! It's Josh Neel, so corrections have to be made. Wisconsin's Luke Fickell did not sign up for a long extension.' As is typical for all head coaches at Wisconsin, Fickell was extended for one season. UCLA's Carlos Schweisenger, a former walk-on has left the Bruins building and is projected to go in the 3rd round of the 2025 NFL draft. The Illinois D should be in the top 5 and not ranked 11th. 18 of the 22 starters in 2024 return for Illinois in 2025. In the bowl game vs. South Carolina, with all hands on deck for both teams, Illinois shut down a prolific Gamecocks offense. Michigan No. 8? Yes, the Wolverines lose a lot of D talent to the NFL but Michigan has a Blue Chip roster, and as shown in the bowl game vs. Bama, there are many talented players ready to step up in 2025. No. 6 Minnesota lost its quality DC to Miami. Will his replacement keep the Gophers D playing at a high level? OBD no. 3 and Penn State No. 4? I hope so but the Oregon D was missing in action vs. Penn State and Ohio State in the last two games of 2024-25 and the Nits stepped up with NIL money to keep draft-eligible D players in Happy Valley. Indiana, 2nd? Come On Man. The Hoosiers again play against thin-air OOC but play Oregon, Iowa, and Penn State on the road, and a ranked Illinois team in Bloomington. Ohio State No. 1? Perhaps, but many of the guys who played D for the champion Buckeyes are headed to the League and DC Jim Knowles is 'going home' to Penn State. So, for what it's worth?
