  1. Thanks, Alex, fun one to ponder. Stewart was a 5* recruit. He flashed as a Frosh at A+M and was injured in his second season. He also played on a dysfunctional team led by a dysfunctional vastly overpaid head coach. Stewart was a 5* in the portal rankings, the top-ranked WR in the portal. I have yet to see Stewart play like a 5* for OBD. Compare him to Ohio State's Frosh phenom receiver Jeremiah Smith and veteran WR Emeka Eubuka at Ohio State (the Ducks toughest on-paper opponent) and Stewart's play is not close to the level of these 2 Buckeyes. And Evan is playing with a better QB. In fairness, I'm not sure that this version of Oregon's O under Stein fits Evan's game. Until Stewart steps up, I'll put my money on Tez to be OBD's top receiver in 2024-25. And YES, I hope this team will be playing ball in 2025.
  2. USC took the lead, held Michigan, and got the ball back. I haven't produced Heisman winners like Lincoln Riley but I didn't get the play calling when 2 1st downs could have iced the game. Running the ball 3 times would have forced Michigan to call TOs or left little time on the clock for Michigan. Having a TO before running the 4th and goal play helped Michigan. And if the clock had run down, would Michigan have had time to run the ball on every play of its walk-off TD win? I know shovel passes are considered to be almost automatic completions, but not as automatic as handing the ball off. Back-to-back incomplete shovel passes by SC took next to no time off the clock. I do think SC's beef about the former Pac-12 crew calling this game was legit. The crew missed 2 Michigan delay of-game calls, an obvious facemask call on one of Michigan's sacks, and a late below-the-wast hit after Moss had released the ball. SC's WRs did nothing to help Moss out. Every contested catch went the way of the Wolverines. I think Branch in particular played an uninspired game. On the pass returned for a TD by All-American Will Johnson, the SC receiver waited passively for the ball instead of moving back to the ball to make the catch; a fundamental error at this level of football. SC's O-line deserved the 'D' grade from Trojans Wire. You lose both LOS and you will not win many football games. Unlike SC, Texas dominated both LOS and shut down Michigan's run game. It was a great 'fistfight' of a game to watch.
  3. 30, Kentucky has rarely defeated Georgia but has been a pain in UGA's butt. The week before Georgia traveled to KY, South Carolina had whipped Kentucky. These young men have a lot going on in their lives besides football and will not bring their A-game every weekend. Not sure about the viewer numbers but my betting buddies and I are down on UGA winning by at least a FG. With a 7:30 KO I'll be one of the viewers. 11 PM for OBD I hope I can manage the 1st Q.
  4. It will be very interesting to compare viewer numbers for UGA at Bama with SC at Michigan, 3:30 kickoff compared to UGA at Bama kicking off at 7:30. Georgia is 1-5 in its last 6 games vs Bama. Saint Nick had Smarty's number; the game will be played on Nick Saban Field. Georgia is a -2.5 road favorite. Texas at Michigan drew 9.35 million viewers with a noon kickoff. Gameday and Big Noon were both in Ann Arbor. Gameday will be in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. Last season, Ohio State at Michigan was the most-watched regular season game. Go You Athens Dawgs!
  5. Be True to your Old School. Michigan's win over USC was old-school, power football WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The No. 18 Michigan Wolverines scored a huge Big Ten win over No. 11 USC on Saturday, pulling off a 27-24 victory to get its first conference win of the season.
  6. Because the Beavs beat Purdue? Hell No! OSU and WSU are Independents in 2024 + 2025. Same as Notre Dame and UConn. OSU and WSU cannot win a conference championship, G5 or otherwise. With a blowout home loss to OBD, the Beavs have no chance of beating out an at-large Power 4 team(s.) Wazzu plays at Boise on Saturday. Boise is better than San Jose State which took the Cougs into OT on Saturday. Boise 'rested' RB Jeanty against Portland State. Jeanty only had 11 carries and will be ready to go vs. the Cougs. Cheer for the Broncos. Boise being the G5 rep and going 12-1 will give the Ducks schedule strength a nice bump. Week 5 AP Poll has OBD with 1 top-25 win over No. 25 Boise. The Week 5 AP Poll has No. 3 Ohio State, No. 12 Michigan, and No. 19 Illinois left for Oregon to play. 6 B1G teams are ranked. 9 SEC teams remained ranked. Nebraska lost to a top-25 team at home and dropped out. Oklahoma lost to a top-25 team at home and fell from No. 15 to No. 21. A+M beat Bowling Green at home by 6 points and moved up a spot. You can bet that Illinois could lose in 3 OTs at Penn State on Saturday and drop out of the poll.
  7. Forum Friends. OBD at UCLA kicks off at 11 PM Eastern. Cheer Hard, I'll be Idle. 😒
  8. OBD moves up a spot while napping. A 6-point home win over Bowling Green moves A+M up 1 spot; $(e)cam. 4-0 Indy is not ranked. 3-0 Rutgers with a road win at Va Tech not ranked. As usual, David Marsh is spot on. Before 12/8/24 all of "This" is fish wrap clickbait. And Charles is spot on noting that Boise State is the highest-ranked G5 team. Boise hosts undefeated (barely) Wazzu this Saturday.
  9. Week 5 AP Poll. NCAA College Football Rankings: AP Top 25 Football Poll APNEWS.COM The official page for the AP Top 25 college football poll, a tradition since 1936. Keep up to date and view the latest ranking updates each week.
  10. Thanks, Jordan. The score in Ann Arbor was Michigan 27 and USC 24 in a game reminiscent of players wearing leather helmets and no face masks. 32 yards passing. I kept looking for Bo or 'Hurry Up' Yost on the sideline and a Wolverines waterboy carrying a bucket with a ladle. That was Old School football. Shout out to Miller Moss who should have worn a flak jacket and D coordinator D'Anton Lynn who is earning every cent of double the money he was being paid at UCLA. SC hosts Wisconsin, Penn State, now 3-0 Rutgers, and O challenged Notre Dame in LA. Road trips to Minnesota, Maryland, UW, and UCLA do not appear daunting. SC is a legit threat to make the 12-team Playoff field. Riley has the team heading in the right direction and is recruiting well but as David Marsh noted, SC needs more and better O-line players. Holy Archie! - How good is the Texas team that mauled Michigan on both LOS? Iowa 31 - Minnesota 14 - The Hawkeyes will have the sausage with a side of bacon and a can of Spam to go. In Chapel Hill, NC, James Madison defeated UNC 70-50 and in the process did not miss a 3-point shot. Post-game Mack Brown said he was not going to retire. This surprised many Tar Heels fans and the UNC defense, who thought Mack had already retired. How about former James Madison coach Curt Cignetti having the Hoosiers at 4-0 with a more impressive win in the Rose Bowl over UCLA than LSU put on the Bruins in Baton Rogue? Indiana hosts Maryland on Saturday before playing at Northwestern the following week. Indiana is odds-on to be 6-0 when Nebraska visits Bloomington. Take That Media Hosers! Week 5 sees 4-0 Ilinois at 3-0 Penn State and 3-0 Rutgers vs 3-1 UWho. Who knew? Michigan State came this close to winning at Boston College. Sparty welcomes Ohio State to E. Lansing in Week 5 before playing Oregon on 10/4 in Eugene. GULP! YOU fired ME? Former Sooners star QB Josh Heupel who Bob Stoops canned as his OC before hiring Lincoln Riley, brought his Vols to Norman, OK. Tennessee held Oklahoma to 15 points with 3 sacks and 11 tackles for loss in the Vols 25-15 win. Oklahoma fans would Sooner have had OBD's Gabe at QB in Norman than in Eugene. The wunderkind who replaced Gabe, Jackson Arnold, was benched after the Oklahoma O floundered. Undefeated No. 6 Tennessee is legit. Undefeated No.7 Mizzou that defeated Vandy in OT is not. Is California still a tourist destination? Stanford visited Syracuse, New York where in a visit to the Carrier Air Conditioning Museum 63% of the Cardinal players figured out a better way to cool you off before cooling off the undefeated Orange 26-24. Soul mate Cal visited Tallahassee, Florida, the only place in the Sunshine State other than Disney World not close to a beach, and despite putting up 126 more yards than the Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah's, handed FSU, DJU and Chiel Osceola its first victory in 2024. UCLA was Bruin up trouble for LSU in Baton Rogue before two late Tigers TD drives sent UCLA home with a loss which will hopefully be repeated this Saturday in Pasadena. After a Big Ten throwback game, the train bringing the SC team home from Ann Arbor is scheduled to arrive at Union Station at 2 AM this Wednesday. 400 sellouts in a row. 34th loss since 2017 by One Score! Nebraska fans are seeing Red. Everyone had BYU winning the B12. Right? Sigh, Miami with one top 25 opponent on the schedule, Louisville, appears to be a lock for the ACC Champ game vs one-bad-half Clemson with Cam Ward the Heisman Trophy favorite. Only the Boise State coaches can stop Ashton Jeanty; only 11 carries in the blowout of Portland State. Blast the Bruins!
  11. Miller Moss should sue for Non-Support. Tough, physical Big Ten game. SC tackled well but 2 missed tackles on Melling's big run to set up a 4th down winning TD. Terrific game. Michigan is one-dimensional on O but will this Ducks D be able to stop the run game in Ann Arbor in November? UCLA gave LSU a battle. Tough ask to fly home to LA and play the Ducks after Oregon had the weekend off. Nice win over ACC Va Tech by Rutgers in Virginia. How about 4-0 Indiana and Illinois and 3-0 Rutgers? MI State is 3-0 with a game tonight at BC.
  12. The Ohio State University team woke up after not showing up vs Marshmellow and WOW! OBD best bring its A+ game to Autzen on 10/12. Clemson had one bad half in Atlanta but will be a test for any team, be it the U or Cal (!) in the ACC champ game.
  13. Cuse fans are celebrating the Smarties joining the ACC, Right? Syracuse stunned by Stanford 26-24 after allowing time-expiring field goal DAILYORANGE.COM Kyle McCord led SU to take a one-point lead late in the fourth quarter against Stanford. Yet Cardinal kicker Emmett Kenney buried a 39-yard field goal with time expiring to stun the Orange... Left Coast S = Cuse Cubed and the Orange Subdued.
  14. THIS would be a nice TE to Tennessee tit for tat!
  15. Hello, my name is Jedd Fisch!😂
  16. Charles, thanks for kicking the weekend off. I have watched both the Cornhuskers and the Illini play. Nebraska Legacy Raiola looks good at QB and Dowdell (SIGH) is looking good at RB. The Illinois D has forced 8 turnovers, tied with Oklahoma and Cal, and one behind leader Maryland. That the two are undefeated and ranked in the AP Poll is a pleasant B1G surprise. The winner of the game is awarded The Freedom Trophy, Illinois is 13-4 in the Freedom Trophy game. Tonight at 5 PM Pacific on FOX. Both Cal and Stanford are on the road, actually in the air as 3-0 Cal plays 0-3 FSU in Tallahassee (NO ONE predicted THIS!) and 1-1 Stanford plays at 2-0 Syracuse tonight, 4 PM Pacific on ESPN. B1G Out-Of-Conference games this Saturday see 3-0 Indiana (!) playing AAC Charlotte, and Michigan State at BC and Rutgers at VA Tech. As for Penn State playing Kent State and Ohio State swallowing a Marshmellow, 'Move Right Along, Nothing to See Here." THE B1G game sees USC at Michigan for the Trojans first visit to The Big House since 1958. USC leads the series 6-4 with the majority of the games played in the Rose Bowl. I maintain as I said in the preseason, that SC has too much speed for a denuded champ team, and Troy with no Oregon and Ohio State on the schedule has a legitimate shot at a B1G championship and a PO invite. While Puddles naps, UCLA travels to Baton Rogue to play No. 16 LSU, at 12:30 Pacific on ABC. At the conclusion of this game, I expect the Bayou Bengals will be 1-1 versus LA.😁 Playoff impact games: SEC - No. 6 Tennessee at No. 15 Oklahoma - 4:30 Pacific on ABC and B12 No. 12 Utah at No. 14 Oklahoma State, 1 PM Pacific on FOX. Next Saturday, No. 13 K State visits OK State. B12 schedulers do not like Mullets! Some great games before one of College Football's Marquee Games when No. 2 Georgia visits No. 4 Alabama next Saturday and Puddles flies to LA to play OBD's 1st B1G game and the 1st in an in an 8-Ball of B1G games, vs old-foe UCLA. OBD will get the win over Rip Van Winkle State but will the Fighting Rips get to keep its Cover?
  17. Solar, good thoughts but Cal and Stanford have: 'Give 'Em The Axe, Right in the Neck!' This week Cal plays in Tallahassee and Stanford in Syracuse. 😁
  18. CBS Sports Week 4 B1G Picks B1G Time: Indiana's dominance amid 3-0 start should not be overlooked, thoughts on Michigan's QB change - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The manner in which the Hoosiers are winning games should serve as a warning to the rest of the Big Ten
  19. Games to watch while Puddles naps. I'd add 3-0 Rutgers at VA Tech, 3-0 Michigan State at BC, and the Battle for the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy when 2-1 Iowa visits 2-1 Minnesota. Cal at FSU? Marshmellow at Ohio State? I'd rather watch two guys fishing; Nick and Prime. Northwestern at UWho - the winner will be presented with The Jimmy Lake Get Smart Trophy. Top college football games for Oregon Duck fans to watch in Week 4 DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Here are the games that Oregon Ducks fans should tune into during the bye week.
  20. One thing for certain, this article didn't stink. Thanks again Charles for another terrific article that explains the game within the game.
  21. The Big Ten Conference including the Victory Bell game between UCLA and USC recognizes 17 football trophy games. There is a reason why the B1G 'Saturday coverage site' is referred to as 'Saturday Tradition.' Oregon is leaving a conference with great tradition of its own but is not leaving tradition behind. In addition to No. 11 ranked USC playing No. 18 Michigan, and No. 24 Illinois playing No. 22 Nebraska in Week 4, the Battle for The Floyd of Rosedale Trophy will be played in Minneapolis when 2-1 Iowa faces 2-1 Minnesota. The history of the 'Pig Trophy Game' is explained in the attached article. Note, that the game was born out of political and racial animus that was overcome by a wager between the Governors of Iowa and Minnesota; the Governor of the team that lost the game had to personally deliver a prized home state porker to the winning Governor. For health, safety, welfare, and olfactory reasons, today the winning team takes possession of a statue of Floyd. The pig and the politician STORIES.UIOWA.EDU Only one team can leave the Iowa-Minnesota football game with a bronze pig. Here’s the story behind the beloved trophy. Iowa is the only B1G team to have three permanent opponents, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. All three are Trophy games. Will the Cascade Clash between OBD and UW one day be recognized as a Trophy tilt? If so, what will the trophy be?
  22. As the Chipper oft said, TOP in today's game is meaningless. And after whining about it, Saint Nick followed suit, OBD dominated TOP against Idaho, left the field with a 34-point undercover, and dropped in the polls.
  23. Oregon Goes 11-1 According to FPI. The Loss Comes vs. Ohio State. Shocking! ESPN's updated FPI predicts one loss for Oregon in conference play 247SPORTS.COM Here's how ESPN's FPI system predicts the outcome of Oregon's 2024 conference play.
  24. Dante will be NFL-eligible after the 2025 season. I'm torn. In a way, I hope he plays well enough in 2025 to earn a 1st round-draft grade. But if he does. He Gone!
  25. POOR-DUE - Toughest Remaining B1G Strength of Schedule Per Badgers Wire. Big Ten football remaining strength of schedule ranking before Week 4 BADGERSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A look at what lies ahead for every Big Ten team with conference play now beginning I'm sorry, Bucky, but I'm not buying OBD at No. 16. This does not consider Oregon's eight games in a row, a B1G 8-Ball, beginning with UCLA in Week 5. And it does not account for games in Ann Arbor and Madison in late November with a game in between against a Maryland team coming off a 'bye.' The Basketball Committee takes playing on the road into consideration. Hopefully, the Football Committee will do the same. Nationally, does any team besides Mario's U have an easier remaining schedule? Miami has played no ranked opponents to date and has one ranked opponent, No. 19 Louisville, remaining on its schedule. The seven at-large teams chosen by the Football Committee will be a subjective exercise.
