  1. With the expanded playoff, there should be fewer player defections like there are now for bowl games.

It will diminish regular season a little, can't help that, but will encourage many more teams to fill those last 8 spots.

So I think it's actually a bigger win.

I think that adding the wildcard spot in MLB added a ton to many teams season, and to all those fans.

I see the same thing happening for college football. And with all the changes, conference wise, NIL, transfers, etc, CFB needs all the help they can get.

  2. Kids change their mind all the time.

Playing for championship on a winning team still matters more then nil. At least to the better players.

This doesn't mean Colorado is losing everything, it just means some of the hype is settling down.

Reality has a way of doing that.

If neon Dion continues to rely on transfer portal for his front line guys as opposed to recruit and develop, he will have a steady diet of 4 - 8 seasons.

  3. With Oregon at #5, highest ranked 1 loss team, a win over #3 UW puts them in guaranteed.

Bama at #8 would only make it to #4 with a win over UGA.

FSU lost its starting QB, they will struggle with Louisville. Quite possibly lose. But with a win, FSU is in.

    Michigan will win, they're in.

Texas will win, but if Bama wins UT will be out cuz Bama will have a better win, as OSU is ranked #18, and the SEC bias will give Bama the edge.

Unless, if Texas wins huge, and Bama doesn't, they might get in over UA.

Either way, we are in with a victory over #3 UW and Pac-12 championship.

  4. It's not every day you get a chance at a re-do. And yet, here we are!

I think we win and cover, but,

I think UW has some kind of mojo going for them this year. It's very hard to go undefeated, in fact this is first and only time since we went to 12 teams someone has. And yet they have not looked great doing it, but they still got it done. Like I said, some kind of mojo.

When you're outplayed, and still win?

So I'm a little concerned. I think we need Bo to be the mvp of this game and be as sharp as he has ever been.

We have played hard every week, no reason to doubt now.

And our DB's will need to play great.

  5. Interesting stat: 2023 was lowest forced turnover year by half, compared to 2010 and 2012.

Yet our points per game are very close to those 2 years. Our high point total for those 2 years was due in part to high # of turnovers leading to short fields.

But this year we still scored a high average per game with half the # of turnovers.

Suggests to me a very efficient offense.

    Well done Will Stein

    Well done Bo Nix.

    Well done Ducks!!

  6. Oregon, Texas, Alabama all won.

Only Oregon beat a ranked team.

    Alabama needed a lucky bounce.

Nothing changes the order of those 3 from the past week.

So going into championship week, Oregon is still highest ranked 1 loss team.

Oregon beats UW, a top 4 ranked team, they're in.

    Undefeated Michigan is in.

    Winner of SEC is in.

    Oregon will be in.

Last place a toss up between undefeated FSU from the weak ACC

or 1 loss Texas from weak Big12.

Only way this changes is if chaos reigns supreme and several underdogs win championship.

    IMHO.

  7. I don't think coach Lanning's loyalty is such he would jeopardize a win for any one person.

My guess is they don't have a good enough replacement for Cam.

So, I think our best bet as fans is to send Mr Lewis positive vibes in any way, shape or form we can.

He is what we got, so someone send him your lucky rabbits foot.

  8. My favorite was 2010 at Reser.

It is the only Civil War I have attended in person. My wife and I returned from our Hawaii vacation that day, and just made it in time for the start of the game.

Very first play for OSU resulted in a sack by Casey Mathews. A nice start.

We won 37 - 10 and went to the first BCS championship game against Auburn.

After the game, we stood at center field and took a selfie standing on the Beaver.

All in all, a great memory.

  9. The NCAA apparently has ok'd the "Pac-02" until 2025 to allow time to rebuild the Pac-?

At best, the hope is to bring in select MWC teams, maybe an AAC team or 2 and continue as a power 5 conference.

This won't fool anyone, the Pac will be only be a glorified G5 conference and will not get full respect from playoff committee in the future.

It will be surprising if other conferences allow a Pac-? winner to get automatic bid in future playoff negotiations.

The hope for OSU is to keep power 5 status. My guess is they will, but in name only.

TV contracts won't reflect huge amounts nor will other conferences treat them any better then they do for CUSA.

    But we will see.

At least the civil war might continue as a Sept game.

  10. They will blend in MWC teams, maybe an ACC team and keep the 'Pac' moniker. But they will just be a glorified G5 conference.

They won't get equal voting from playoff committee.

And no matter what, best recruits won't head to G5 conference, no matter what they call it.

I'm saddened by the loss of the Pac-12, but whatever teams join up now, it won't be the 'Pac' anything in my book.

  11. Maybe a case can be made for Oregon destroying the competition.

Every team Oregon plays collapses for the duration of season.

Even UW has played more poorly since that fateful Oct night.

Oregon isn't just winning. They are destroying teams. Like for real!

So, they should remain higher ranked than AL or UT.

  12. On 11/18/2023 at 10:09 PM, Nevada Dawg said:

I missed much of the game as Georgia was playing Tennessee at the same time. What I did see was impressive however. I questioned, however, why the hell Nix and Irving were still in the game much of the second half., Nobody is paying me 6 million a year for my game day decisions, but I saw no need of exposing Bo Nix to the prospect of a horrifying injury in a game where the Ducks were up by six touchdowns. There is simply too much at stake this season for this in my opinion.

If the decision was made to Pad Bo's stats for Heisman candidacy than I'm doubly dubious. Downvote me if you wish (actually I don't think this is possible here), but statistics are for losers, even though they are the metric that many use to grant individual awards.

Having said this, i was also dubious of Kirby Smart's decision to leave QB Carson Beck in the game with Tennessee as long as he did---and for the same reason I questioned the Nix decision. Long-range team goals are far more important than individual ones IMHO.

Bo played opening series if 2nd half. That's all. He threw a td pass (#7) to TE Ferguson, but refs called a mysterious p/I penalty.

Ty T played rest of game.
