Gotta question Mr. Fishduck, I thought with the new scholarship rules that teams were limited to how many players could be on the team and no walk-ons allowed. How can the Ducks have 23 on the pitching staff? What am I missing? Btw, great article. Thanks for the info.

I think the Oregon Ducks are for real. Someone already said it, who ever wins the Natty has to go through Oregon. With the playoffs expansion, I expect Oregon to make the field virtually every year. Once there, anyone can win. But only if you get in. It's hard to win it all. So much has to go your way. But Oregon has the ingredients. Some day soon we will get the right bounces. IU's win last year has us doubting. But that was an outlier. A one off. Can they reload and repeat? I won't believe it till I see it. Sure, NIL and the portal make it possible, but still improbable. In Dan I trust. This year should be fun to watch. New coordinator's, an experienced talented QB, great RB's, a WR room to salivate over, a returning talented experienced front 4, tall, rangey, db's, and talented youth. We will be favored in most games. I hope we make it to Vegas. I can drive to that game.

I was born in CA. Lived in BC, Canada from age 11-21. Finished my college at Oregon where I met my bride. I have a lot of relatives in Canada still, but nothing makes me smile more (except a Ducks Natty) than seeing the USA beat Canada on the world stage at their own sport! C'mon men. Get 'er done!

For me these promotions make sense. It's the natural next step. DL is a type of coach players want to play for, and coaches want to be with. I'm sure when Drew and Chris were hired they were led to believe the possibility of moving up was real. As far as trusting DL's choices, he has proven to get the best players available regardless of who he already has, I'm sure it's the same with his coaching staff.

So my dad moved us from CA to BC Canada when I was 11. I learned hockey following the Vancouver Canucks, when they weren't too good. It was several years before they didn't lose to the Montreal Canadiens, a 0-0 tie! The era of John Ferguson, Yvan Cournoyer, Frank Mohovolich and others. Bobby Orr was the 'great' before Gretzky. I had season tickets to Pdx Winterhawks for a few years in late 80's. Great times. Was there for the Memorial Cup. I'm hoping the Ducks will one day be a true varsity team. NIL will help get quality players. Could be awesome. Btw, I was at Oregon my last year when the Olympics 'miracle on ice' took place. I was so ecstatic, tried to convince my friends of the incredible event, none were impressed or cared. But I remember very well, "do you believe in miracles?" Yes I do! Sco Ducks!!

I've disliked the 'Natty or Bust' attitude for years. Precisely because if you don't win it all, your season ends with a loss. And disappointment. Take these last 2 seasons, we win 13 games!! Unheard of. Unthinkable. Yet a fantastic reality. But instead, we remember bad losses against eventual Natty winners. I will have to adjust my hopes as this is now the new reality, get to the playoffs, or you failed. But also, now losing a game, maybe even 2, is not devastating. So we will watch each week and hope for the playoffs instead of hoping for the win. Season games now matter less. Get enough wins to make playoffs. And some kids will make more $$ in 1 season playing college football, then I made in working 52 years combined! Gee I wish I would have practiced harder!

No amount of $$ is worth it if a kid doesn't want to play here. We'll be just fine.

This is a major event for CFB. It is precedent setting for all of us. If he is allowed to transfer after signing an agreement, then no contracts with any player is valid. The pay for play is bad now, wait and see how bad it gets if this case goes in favor of the player!

As a true freshman he probably assumes he will redshirt 1st year where ever he goes. He still has 5 years to play 4.

I heard Novosad was headed to Louisville. Isn't that in Kentucky? My point was that we assumed AN would be next QB, but not only was he not, the OC didn't think he was the best choice for his new gig! I guess we need to trust DL and his evaluation.

I think it's interesting that Novosad didn't go to Kentucky. Stein must know something we don't. Bryson was fine waiting his turn until Raiola signed. That alone pretty much guarantees he would sit 3 years. You're right about playing time, he has to have it. Better to play at a smaller school for 2 years than sit for 2 or 3. Maybe a Pac(St)eight team.

Smart move by Dante. Drafted QB's with as few starts as him have been notoriously bad at the next level. He has some important growing to do. Particularly in anticipation and throwing in cluttered windows over the middle. Now we need to capitalize on the amazing WR room we will have next year. A strong RB room as well. Our new OC has the 'Jimmy's & joes', will he be able to design the 'x's & o's'!

We went to the Fiesta Bowl vs Kansas St. Fun times. But spending such large $$ for poor seats isn't my thing anymore. My Hi-Tech 60" TV with my leather recliner, which includes beer service, (my pretty bride), is all I'm up for these days. But spending $1000's for a couple night trip is tough. Now we have to do it 3 times?! I think the crowd at Orange bowl was pretty good, but to do it again for Atlanta? While hoping for Miami again? Tough call. Well, I'm starting a savings account today to make Vegas next year. 🤞

Plus, there are a lot of great choices for defense front guys in this years draft. Good for all 3 to stay and improve. Was not MU best year.

Yes, mistakes will be a big part of this game. If we keep the ball, not turn it over, we in good shape. Evenly matched teams means the one with fewer mistakes wins. Let's hope it's Oregon.

I personally hope Dante comes back. He is still young at reading the defense, and needs to gain more confidence in remaining in the pocket. The League is a major step up and adjustment. Guys need a minimum of snaps before moving up. I don't think DM is there yet. I know it seems like a no-brainer to go 1st or 2nd qb in the draft, but you want the best chance of success. Those early draft picks go to lousy teams. I hope for his sake (and ours!) he waits 1 more year. Remember, both Justin Herbert and Bo Nix had some negative talk to overcome which allowed them to go to teams better suited for them. Marcus didn't have such good fortune.

I think Oregon and Indiana are the best teams left. But the games are won on the field, not in on-line discussion groups. I have a difficult time believing we can win this thing, all the previous comments state how we can. I sure want to believe so. I'm placing my hope on our coaching staff. We have showed real grit this year in winning tough games, by any means necessary. Travel, early start, late start, inclement weather, questionable refs, we've been through it all and found a way to win. Our guys are battle tested. This should be best game of the playoffs. I hope it's our best game of the year so far. I'm still betting on my Ducks. This is the year of the Duck!

No offense, but Saban as CFB boss is a no go for me. Too much SEC bias already, don't need his 2 cents. Your ideas of needed changes are good though. A shrewd lawyer type, like maybe our own JJ from S. Carolina would be a good choice.

From here on our, the games come down to who wants it more. And I believe the Ducks team love holds that advantage. I also believe Tosh & Will want to win as bad as DL. They want to go out as champions. I agree with Mike's points. We beat their secondary. Also, our D-line is very, very good. And deep. Their QB will be pressured. Their run game will be slowed. As good as their O-line and D-line are, they haven't played a team as strong as Oregon. They will wear down. The time off always affects timing. Tackling the Ducks team speed will take a bit to readjust to. I expect Kenyon and Jamari to have a big day. Jmac, Benson, and the return of speed-demon Dakorian and sure hands Bryant will give that secondary fits. And our stable of backs will run and run and run. Can't wait!
