  1. 3* Cooper Kupp, nobody wanted him and he torched us, right!
  2. Interesting you mention the Poly culture as encouragement, yet it seems there seems to be a very strict way of giving encouragement. Encouragement from what I know is earned and often kept just out of reach in Poly culture. Children aren't given massive amounts of stimulation of how well they are doing, not a lot of participation trophies given out. There is an emphasis on respect of elders and always striving to be their best. When I think of a winning culture I do think of the Poly culture because they do tend to obey the coach, something sometimes missing in other kids. There is also an amazing work ethic and believing in family and team. I agree there are few cultures as strong and amazing as the Poly culture, especially for football. How do you define the encouragement in the Poly culture?
  3. If you read into what Lanning talks about it is all about having a growth mindset. You aren't great, you are what you put towards your weaknesses and how strong your strengths become. Most players have only heard about how good they already are and a fixed mindset is instilled. They think I am good enough and deserve to start based on my talent level right now. Lanning is trying to develop a culture of where there is a thirst to get better, hear about what they can improve on, not just hearing coaches stroke egos. The problem with that is most kids have just heard about how good they are. Some are even afraid to address any weaknesses they may have, doesn't jibe with what they have been told their whole lives. They have no flaws and deserve only the best. They may like to practice, but only on their position and do what they are good at. We may even see some of our superstars leave because of this attitude. The other problem with a culture is their is usually a hierarchy based on the age of the athletes. If the seniors don't have the mindset of a winner, then the whole program suffers. Hopefully this is one of the reasons they brought Bo in. A team needs a strong top down attitude within the team of players. What is acceptable and what isn't starts with the coaches, but only works if the senior players buy in. I am sure Dan is very cognizant of this and wonder what he has done to address this issue. This then extends to the next generation of players, unless they didn't understand what it took for these seniors to achieve what they did. OSU basketball is a perfect example of that going sideways. Helfrich's teams also lost Marcus and many players who understood what it took, and suffered. Each year needs to build on the last and sometimes it takes a special player to truly instill this, who might that be? It will be a tall task for Lanning and staff to truly instill the culture they want. There is a set culture already from Mario and as many have said it isn't the most solid cultures. He may have to take some kids out when effort falters against EWU in the second week. He needs to see players taking no downs off. It will be critical he sets this mentality early and often. That will be one thing to watch for as the culture grows. How does he handle the EWU game and does he have destroyers or guys who just want to get along.
  4. Wow, this was a major buzz kill, glad you weren't in the dressing room before the wedding! Now this is the guy we need in the dressing room to make sure our guy doesn't leave out the back door. Agree, I'm pretty sure Nike's stock price will jump after all the gear being bought!
  5. I hear our uncle is building a new playhouse, right? I hope it is big enough for all the kids!
  6. I have heard, second hand, some concerning issues with Flowe, but nothing too outrageous for a college kid. If he leaves it wouldn't be because our staff can't develop LB's. I will say the majority of people move to South Beach for one reason. I do hope any rumor of his leaving is just that a rumor and it ends there, and he gets extremely serious about football. I want to see this kids talents reach their potential, and that will happen at Oregon, or he is a lost cause, IMHO. If I was his parent, I wouldn't let him near South Beach, ever.
  7. What if we sour, suddenly realizing our bride has never, well you know........ coached a game, and doesn't know how to...... do it? Is this marriage strong enough to withstand a little first time difficulty?
  8. I would agree in the old days. You were married before you lived together. We have moved in together, but still haven't tied the knot with Coach Lanning. I still don't think we have married up, until the games begin, but it is just a ponder point. I would also say it was more of an arranged marriage, so the courtship continues as we get to know each other. CK was a more traditional marriage as was Bellotti. Kind of scary seeing how my mind works, sorry!
  9. Is he full scholarship or PWO?
  10. I was thinking about this the other day. Are we in a honeymoon period with The Dan Lanning era or just the courtship process? It definitely feels like the honeymoon period as everything is just blissful at the moment. The problem is we really don't know what we have tied our program too so I would say Lanning is just courting us now, the honeymoon is too come. I would say the honeymoon period will happen when we see a win with the new offense and defense. For now we are just getting to know who this coach is. We are finding out he just might be a better recruiter than Mario. How else does a D-coordinator bring in the best O-line recruit in our history, when competing against Mario. We also are getting to know he has probably put together the best group of coaches in our history, when it was thought maybe Mario had. The courtship is also happening on the playing field. Players are saying playing football is fun again. We are seeing a real competition at qb, even though there is a more experienced veteran in the mix. Off the field we haven't seen any misbehavior, but I also look forward to a much better handling of any transgressions by the student athletes. We are in a courtship period as many people were starting to tire of the football program. Some were wondering if a new coach could bring back the desire to go to games, now it sounds like the spring game will have record crowds. The courtship is leading right up to a perfect marriage of a coach and fanbase. I look forward to the honeymoon period to begin once the first snap happens even if it isn't exactly where we want the marriage to begin. I do look forward to that bonding experience and many more after, with Coach Lanning and staff.
  11. I do expect to see a tax write off soon, but ROI isn't their focus.
  12. Well said, the problem is the NCAA makes the Pac-12 look brilliant too! Get rid of this clown, maybe he can consult with his alma mater on the NIL deals they should make on his next job working for the w.
  13. If you win the lottery and put your name out there you are just about guaranteed to lose it all. The same might be said about any NIL agreements.
  14. If the Ducks merely outbid the other programs then we will suffer. I doubt all that went into the decision was a financial comparison of the schools offer. Oregon, fortunately, has set themselves up to compete very well with the old rules and now is competitive in the new market. With facilities which are way above anything west of Texas, and coaches who are better too, we have all that is needed to bring in the talent. Now if the product on the field is exciting and successful we will continue to dominate on and off the field. As far as the NCAA leadership on the NIL situation. Mark Emmert, President of the NCAA, and esteemed alumni of UW, and past president of the w messed it up royally. He led the expenditure of $250 million fighting the NIL all the way up to the Supreme Court. He lost, spent $250 million and was left with nothing. This is why the NIL is the way it is, and we thought Lavish Larry was a stooge. The real joke is Emmert still has his job, just wow!
  15. It will be fascinating to see the stallions turned loose by the new staff. I will never understand why Dontae wasn't played more last year. We now are hearing there was talk about replacing AB with Ty, but they decided against this too. The repeated run up the gut was just a sign of the decision making process going on over and over. Onward and forward. Grateful for the recruits we have on the team, and for a staff looking to put them in space for explosive plays! One note Pittman, right now, is a back-up on a 5-7 team. On a team where 5 transfers are projected to be starters. I'm not sure what the metric was for choosing the starters.
  16. I hope Robby's dreams come true. I always loved the young man and his potential!
  17. Wowsa, the talent coming in is astounding! Oregon-bound 7-footer Kel'el Ware, nation's No. 10 prospect, continues to turn heads at Nike Hoop Summit - Scorebook Live NEWS.SCOREBOOKLIVE.COM PORTLAND, Ore. — Kel'el Ware admittedly didn't know anything about the state of Oregon before his first visit. When he spent time at the University of Oregon,
  18. Your getting close to dawg logic, careful ;)!
  19. I love to see grinders sign up as PWO's. This is what makes a program strong and deep. Kids with more heart than talent can inspire and surprise a program!
  20. Actually no surprise, second from last. It is kick the Dawgs Sunday, after all! 2022 Recruit Pac-12 Football Team Rankings 247SPORTS.COM In order to create the most comprehensive Team Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Team Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Composite Rating.
  21. Wasn't Oregon a semifinalist for the Moore Award, not a runner up? The Beavers, were named a finalist which would seem to be even more impressive based on the talent. I would give major kudos to the beavs for making the finalist round. I hate to say it, but hopefully this new staff can exceed what the beavs did last year. Beating out what the Ducks did last year will be easy in comparison. · The offensive line has helped pave the way for the team’s rushing attack, which averages a Pac-12 best 217.3 yards per game and ranks T-12th nationally. · The Beavers O-line have given up just 10 sacks, which leads the Pac-12 and is T-2nd nationally. · Oregon State’s O-line is paving the way for an incredible 2.9 rush yards before contact, 2nd-most in the nation. · The Beavers offensive line has allowed just 40 tackles for loss this season, the second-fewest in the nation.
  22. He will definitely be needed to start next season. With a senior laden O-line Klemm has his work cut out getting next years O-line ready and keeping this years going. Fortunately he seems more than up to the task.
  23. I understood the rotation on the defensive line, not on the O-line. I look forward to new guidance and coaching of this unit. I think we are already seeing positive outcomes with the recruitment of Conerly. Student athletes bought into what was sold by the last leadership group. The same can be said of this group, but I look for better outcomes, and history seems to be on our side for more than recruiting outcomes. Congrats to our Head Coach and specifically Coach Klemm. This is validation we are on the right track. That track is heading in the right direction!
  24. There fixed it, “Oh, how we love to ponder about Those Miserable Dawgs!”
