  1. Damon Amendolara, subbing for Jim Rome on his show this morning, ranted on and on about how money is destroying college football. He made some good points, but I was annoyed with his indignation and raving against teams such as Oregon and Washington leaving one conference for another.

He may have had those good points in his rant, but he concentrated on recent actions in college football, with no mention of his alma mater, Syracuse University, which left the Big East for the ACC beginning with the 2013-14 season, and the effect that had on the Big East. Maybe that wasn't as dramatic as what's happened recently, but Syracuse was making sure they would stay in a Power 5 Conference--not unlike currents teams moves....

That means those are EARLY games in the day, no Jammies needed in the middle of a 7:00 PM telecast.  Great for fans watching TV...

Oh, yes, great for fans watching TV, I totally agree! I was thinking about the travel time for the team. Of course, the players are much younger than I, so handling "jet lag" might be much easier for them. 🙂

The football team is one of the few sports that rarely has to miss many classes, because in the PAC they could leave on a Friday afternoon for away games, but will have to leave early Friday mornings for games on the East Coast, if not on Thursdays. Other sports usually play over a period of two or more days, so the members of those teams can end up miss a lot of school.

With ASU, Arizona and Utah all going to the Big 12, I would say this is the swan song for the PAC. Hopefully you guys can keep the Civil War Game alive. Along with Washington and the Apple Cup.  Utah gets their Holy War game back.

According to the UO president: "In coming years, the UO will prioritize the long-held traditions, including competition across all sports with Oregon State University."
