SoCalDuck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great to read about Cid being able to play again. I hope That Yanez gets well soon. Those are two key players for us. -
Bats Come Alive as Ducks Sweep Cal State Northridge
SoCalDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is finally Coach Lombardi's team. All the players are ones she selected and brought in. It feels to me that we can go far with this group of young ladies, and that this is our new beginning to softball greatness. Now if they would only televise or stream more of them... -
Thanks for the update. We were keeping up with the stats, but for an unknown reason, we lost the link. Couldn't find anything until your post. Thanks so much Charles for putting this up.

Softball Wins First Game, 9-3 Over Cal State Northridge
SoCalDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That was a tough bottom of the 7th. 3 pm does not seem like it's enough time for the ladies to rest between games. The good is that we'll be playing the same team, therefore, they'll be just as unrested as us. GO DUCKS!!! -
Darn! I wish we had another biggie like that.

I wish we could have been able to watch it. Had to keep track of stats on the internet. These athletes need more media exposure, but it's still unfortunate that female sports still has way too little coverage. I find that female athletes, imho, hustle more as they have a lot more to prove in order to be fully appreciated.

Hands Up! Who Are Oregon Softball and Baseball Fans?
SoCalDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I too, like WiseKwacker, watch more softball games than baseball. Nevertheless, I watch quite a bit of baseball. I’d like to keep up on all Duck teams, therefore a little of all is always fine with me. Thanks for this inquiry. -
They're an academically prowessed rowing school.

Any news on Conerly? Did he go with Meatchicken? That would ice it for me. -
Dillingham's Offense: "A System for Playmakers"

This! -
I agree with GG2s assessments. Franck, N’Faly and Phillipina are all a little too aggressive at present and tend to get into foul trouble early. In order to keep them in the entire game, Altman has to give them selective bench time. They are really diamonds that need to be cut. And like diamonds, they need to be cut carefully. I trust Altman is very good at developing players as he’s had to patch up a new team practically every year. As for the weave, this indeed opens up our biggies in the paint or allows for open lanes for the guards to attack.

My thoughts exactly. -
The Matt isn't Mac Court, but it can be Great

I don't think that the student section is as involved as they were. The Pit Crew would plan out, ahead of time, things to do during the games. The general attending students were all expectant and ready to join in. As well, here are too many whiners now that limit what the attendees can do. Of course, the pandemic has truncated the numbers and the close proximity of the students to the players. Finally, its because my wife and I live in SoCal now so we can no longer bring in the juice. -
I wish the young man all the best luck in the future. He played his heart out and gave us all he had every game. He'll always be a Duck. Buen viaje.

To be fair to MC, or perhaps more realistically stating, he may have learned a valuable lesson while mismanaging at Oregon. The guy's not an idiot. His trials as HC should have awoken in him some thought that perhaps he should let bothers do their jobs and not overcontrol. Perhaps he'll allow those coaches in Miami to actually coach!? Wouldn't that be a something? He should have learned something from all the boos he got this past season. That the fans were not necessarily booing the players, but were actually booing him. Did he dislike that so much that it jarred some realization of why it was occurring, and can now acknowledge his error enough so to do differently at his new destination. Perhaps a tabula rasa opportunity awaits him and he can become what he always thought he was.

Ducks come from behind, Crush Washington, 84-56
SoCalDuck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is going to be a big test for our Ducks. A win will move us up in the rankings and put us in a better position for, possibly, a spot in the tournaments ahead. A loss, this late in the season, will show that we are not yet ready for primetime. As well, come on now, this is against the leg humpers. we need to win if for no other reason than for rivalry's sake. -
Agree. When she's ready she will. Neither she nor Phillipina have have had long time playing experiences. They are both physically very talented and are, at present, developing better team play skill experience. Graves has been using them in different player combinations to give them that experience and uses them in specific matchup situations. Their Duck future is looking to be very good for them and for our beloved Ducks..

Mario Cristobal REJECTED by Another OC Candidate at Miami

Jimmy "The Academician" is with Sark the Shark at Texas now. I don't know if Super Mario likes him enough to throw more money at him. -
Phillipina Kyei - A Talented Work in Progress
SoCalDuck replied to ArkieDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I heard them being referred to as our new "Tall Firs." They've yet to win a championship, but it's an honorable mention and quite fitting. Perhaps they'll fit their name someday. I have also heard them referred to as the new "Kamikaze Kids" the way they are have been attacking and swarming on defense. No matter what they are called or what they are able to accomplish, I'll always love our "Lady Ducks." -
72- 59 final. What a weekend for our basketball teams. Back to back victories against top 10 teams. Our women played a smothering defense and kept pressure all game long.

Does anyone really know that he's pulled his LOI?

No disrespect intended but, what exactly does "Billy Bobbed" mean? As well, "the talent to do well in our league?" -
Uh-Oh: Oregon Probed by NCAA About NIL Program

Leaving NCAA behind would be a a midsummer night's dream. -
Dennis Dixon was a thin kid too. Look at what he did after a couple of years. Got bigger although never really bulked up.
