The Lanning Effect: Best Off-Season for Oregon Fans Yet?
SoCalDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Wow. Lots of great and deep thoughts and ideas presented above. I enjoyed reading all of them and they made be think back a bit. Thank you folks. My thoughts are a bit simpler as I am easily satisfied when it comes to Duck stuff. I never expected for our beloved Ducks to be even spoken about being at an elite level. I was happy with our season when we defeated the Fuskies and the Nutria. Finishing high enough to make a bowl game was cause for great celebration then. After peaking with Chip in command, the expectations zoomed upwards. The last couple of years tempered my expectations back down so I'm back to simple hopes. Lanning does not have to be the miracle maker that many are hoping for (though that would be a very good thing). He just has to be better than Cristobal in game management and keep recruiting capable as well as level headed players. -
The best part is no UW.

It should be funded by the NFL as, for all practical purposes, CFB is it's minor league. Should we have 2 CFB programs? One for those that only academically qualified under individual normal university or college admissions standards and the other for the NFL intended. Both would still be NFL draft capable. Is that too far fetched?

Ranking PAC-12 2022 out of Conference (OOC) Schedules
SoCalDuck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment. My concern is the timing of the schedule. It's hard to dig oneself out of a hole when the sand keeps sliding back in. The SEC plays lollipops all the time. They care not for integrity, just the score. -
He has great height. He would make a great edge rusher. Just needs to put a little more beef on.

2023 Stanford 4-Star Commit is Thankful for an Offer from Oregon
SoCalDuck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Duck through the O. Still my favorite Logo. It would be very nice to have another TE commit. We used to be TE U in the days of yore. It would help our passing game, not just our running game. Getting really excited about our possibilities on offence. I expect our defense will have a new character now with Lanning. It would help our DBs if we can get some good pass rushers in as well. -
330 Pound Husky Defensive Tackle, Taimani to Oregon?
SoCalDuck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Have we really made an offer to Tamani? I haven't read when we offered. Did I miss something? Wouldn't be unusual for me to miss something though. -
But 29 of those were in the 2nd half. That and the fact that the kids didn't quit, that's the difference. Can hardly wait for next season to start.

But only if the old rivalries were contracted and maintained ad infinitum. For example, Oregon would always play Oregon State and the Fuskies. UCLA would always play U$C, etc.
-
I do too. There hasn't been enough time to make the corrections necessary for us to properly challenge OK. I still love and root for my Ducks and like always "GO DUCKS!!!"
-
I certainly agree. Finding oldies that fit that mold is difficult. As well, with the time restraint that Lanning is facing, finding that person is even more difficult. So, go for youth.

Hiring old-timers is not necessarily a bad idea. When I retired as as a Senior non-com and applied for employment, I was denied for some positions because, either I would have to take orders from 1, a woman 2, a young person or 3, both. Very antiquated logic. As a senior non-com I was often assigned to train and direct new officers in the performance of their job. That was often the case in the military. Never did I fail to follow direct orders from the young officers. That can apply to older coordinators following the orders of the younger HCs. You get paid to do a job, you do it. As a side note: the young officers were assigned to two Senior non-coms. One to tell the officer what to say and do, and the other to cover their butts when they messed it up. That could be a good thing for a young HC. Just sayin'.

As a retired Viet Nam vet and retired Air Force I say.....Go whomever. I actually enjoy watching our academies, so I root for all unless they are playing the Air Force of course.

Some news reporters are hacks too. This was probably just for the clicks.

If Chip would accept the Oregon offer and leave UCLA, wouldn't that be the same as MC accepting the Miami offer and leaving Oregon? Would that be just? Would we really want that? Two wrongs do not a right make. Personally, I would not.

Does brown only look to his right? He's missed secondary receivers on his left. Happy with the score though. GO DUCKS!!! -

I believe that this is the earliest that the booing has occurred. -
Of course our officials are not exactly tops, but the fouls are momentum killers.
