Oregon Ducks vs Oregon State Beavers: EA Sports predicts the winner
DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM
A look at how EA Sports College Football 25 simulated the non-conference showdown between the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers in 2024.
We barely squeak by the PAC 2 Championship contender.
Looks like a pad the stats weekend.

I always thought Chris Miller became a turning point for the program. He was truly a tremendous athlete in High School, and honestly, an injury probably kept him from going to a better team.
I suppose that Royce Freeman should be a candidate as well. Our all time rushing leader with 60 TD’s.
For defense, hands down Haloti Ngata.

Be careful what you wish for or overlook. The Civil War has been one of the great rivalries in college
Traditional rivalries went out the window with conference realignments. Oregon has one of the top teams in the nation, with the ability to continue to recruit at a very high level into the future.
Take a look at the rodents recruiting. SDSU, WSU, BSU, and Idaho will be a more competitive rivalry for them.
I think many Duck fans oppose playing them simply because of the financial windfall they would receive from us. They will not be a threat to the Ducks for the foreseeable future.

It is great when players are buzzing about the proram.
A lot of recruits from around the country attend the same football camps. So, our guys can do a little advertising about what Oregon has to offer, and the culture around the program.
Jordon Davison states that when Locklyn left he felt that Oregon wasn’t for him anymore. Dan Lanning makes personal contact with him and he commits.
There is no doubt that Dan is special when it comes to creating a picture of how these players will fit into our offense, or defense. He has elevated the program into something special, and his guys have the talent to win a Championship.
With the talent that is already here, and more on the way, the Ducks look destined to add that Championship trophy to the display case.

People know that Oregon directly benefits from Phil Knight’s success. We are the “Nike School”. It benefits the Ducks, but it also benefits Nike.
The college associated with the largest sport shoe company, and sports apparel company in the world, should be sexy. They should always be a top contender.
It sells shoes.
The Ducks need to win the big one soon. Nike’s stock has completely tanked over the last 2 years.

Once your football career is finished, Nike will give you a nice white collar job if you want it. Basically we'll take care of you for life one way or anot
While there are a lot of employees worldwide with Nike. There is never a promise to hire just anyone. There is attention given to those with solid academics and communication skills.
Not everyone fits into that category. Btw…Nike receives resumes from hundreds of Master degree grads each year, applying for entry level work….yikes
There are a lot of corporate connections that Division Street has available. Nike can open doors to sports HR departments worldwide (NFL,NBA, MLB) but there is also construction, food and beverage, financial company’s, auto dealers, and more that are involved.
However, the old adage of it isn’t always what you know, it’s who you know, that gets your foot in the door.

Size and speed, Oregon has both.
It will take NFL caliber DLineman to consistently negate our offensive line. It also will take NFL caliber Olinemen to deal with our defensive front.
An opponent will have to be very successful on third downs to beat the Ducks.

They can have it.
Agreed.
Years ago I flew into Savannah, and headed towards Hilton Head for a convention. Halfway there an emergency broadcast came across the radio and stated to seek shelter.
It was dark, and visibility was almost zero because of the torrential rain. We somehow stayed on the pavement and found a restaurant for shelter. 5 minutes after we ran into the restaurant, lightning strikes knocked down power lines across the street. So now there is no power, or air conditioning to battle the terrible humidity.
It seemed like the start of a bad movie. I kept an eye on the parking lot waiting for the swamp monsters, or zombies, to start their attack.
There has to be a few months when the weather is not life threatening, but I have no interest in finding out.

I think the job description probably includes scouting, and a lot of the organizational aspects of recruiting. A position of need, but when you have success, others teams will want your people, and copy what you are doing.
No recruits, or current players, will follow him to SC, but he has a solid information on scouting. That information is certainly not irreplaceable.
Pretty sure SC is not the dream destination of a lot of recruits that we will pursue.

Sadiq is unique because he was 6’ 3’’ and around 220 lbs when recruited. He is probably adding weight so that he can be more effective blocking, but with his speed, he can create some unique problems for a defense trying to match up with him.
Some other young players such as Rod Pleasant, and Gatlin Bair have crazy speed. You can’t teach size, and with speed, you’re either fast, or you’re not.
It will be fun to watch some of these young guns get more playing time.

Rick Neuheisel seems like a questionable source. Pretty sure he and Phil Knight are not pals.
Phil Knight, Pat Kilkenny, the Pape family, Jim Morse, and Ed Maletis were the names originally associated with launching Division Street. It’s goal is to help raise NIL funds, but also acts as a braintrust to help monetize an athletes NIL.
I believe that when an athlete has discussions with Division Street it is more than Phil Knight handing out money. Division Street has the expertise to help athletes brand and market themselves in a large variety of ways.
The long term connections an athlete can make through Division Street can also prove to be very valuable beyond sports.

Their fans will always be “that guy” at the party that tells you how great they once were.
Nobody cares.
SUC nation left the PAC 12 hoping for greener pastures. Oregon’s stature and brand is substantial and an invite was also extended to join. Trojan boys are fuming that they still have to contend with us on the field, and recruiting top athletes.
They are finding out that “The grass is damn green in Eugene”.

The schedule may play a role on who plays in the conference championship in any given year. Who you play on the road vs. at home, and who you don’t play can be an advantage.
Oregon recruiting is gaining momentum and they are a solid contender this year. A solid showing in our inaugural season will go a long ways to carrying that forward.
Who knows how that football bounces, but teams already know that Oregon is going to be a tough opponent.

This USC call in show is so thick with entitlement and hubris I had to turn it off after just 15 minutes. They're completely clueless and OBD lives rent free in their heads.
Oh my…I couldn’t listen beyond the first phone call from Angel. He stated that the education standards are so much higher at SUC. He finishes with Oregon doesn’t send nearly as many players to the NFL. Implying that they are better at developing players.
I had to fact check that comment.
Turns out Oregon has 42 active players on rosters, and SUC has 37. Apparently, that higher level of education doesn’t include math.

You Tube content. This has to be a favorite for all Duck fans. A touchdown by Utah would put them up by two touchdowns early. However….

At least a few of their fans aren’t brain dead from breathing smog every day. Some are at least smart enough to know that money is not the only reason someone commits to Oregon football.
Oregon took a risk on a young unproven coach that was hungry to make a name for himself. USC bought a coach, and QB, that dominated the BIG 12.
Hmmmm…the QB moved on, and somehow the future looks much brighter in Eugene.

It states that he played injured his junior year. That may have knocked him down a bit based upon total yards compared to others. If he comes back strong this year he probably will get upgraded.
Kind of like how Herbert was overlooked by everybody because of his injury. His 3* status turned out to be a 5* where it matters most.
As an aside, I would have loved to see Herbert play under Will Steins offense with our current receivers that would actually catch his ball.

Dan Lanning and Company, along with a well managed Division Street NIL collective are winning a lot of head to head battles against stiff competition. Impressive indeed.
Every time I see top rated recruits commit to Oregon when they have been projected to go elsewhere, a short rendition of Riverdance flashes through my mind.
Go Ducks,
Go DL and Staff.

If the offensive and defensive lines are the “ Tip of the Spear”, then the Ducks roster is ready to play a physical style of football.
What opposing teams will be up against is a sturdy defensive front, fast linebackers, and a high scoring offense. Teams will not have the luxury of running the football just to wear us down.
They will be forced to throw the ball to keep pace, and that is where the Ducks defensive scheme can make it difficult to constantly move the chains in obvious throwing downs.
If we stay reasonably healthy, then we will be a team that requires a top performance from an opposing QB to beat us.

How to Watch the Ducks on Xfinity?
in Our Beloved Ducks
Posted
I added BTN Big Ten Network for $10/mo + tax on Xfinity using their app. If you already have app set up, it takes less than 5 minutes to get access.
Not free, but convenient.
