Coaching aside, USC is a formidable opponent. Beating USC elevates Oregon football no matter who is coaching them. Riley is a good coach. If Oregon hired him I think we would be excited as well. Lanning has already proven to be a formidable opponent to SC recruiting wise. May see some growing pains as he gains HC experience , but I think we have a good one. Young staff that knows what it takes to win. Going to be some great Oregon vs. USC games ahead. A lot of people will be circling those matchups on the calendar to make sure they don’t miss those battles. I love it.

You need to ask why would someone make these statements. Many reasons that these kind of statements are made just before the draft. Part of the pre-draft posturing game.

Media Rights Question Posed To Wilner By Joseph
Drake replied to Notalot's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In my opinion, the numbers being offered reflect that they anticipate an expansion to the CFP. Therefore, they have already forecast the revenue potential and their offer reflects those numbers. The networks would be shortsighted to not offer the PAC12 a reasonable package. The PAC 12 would have representation in an expanded playoff, and advertising dollars keeps the lights on at these networks. There are households west of the Rockies that actually buy stuff and advertisers love us. They want money from the people that had the fortitude to settle the untamed west. Kliavkoff will need to be creative to either unload the PAC 12 network, or enhance it. Streaming entertainment is already here. It will be interesting to see who muscles their way into streaming college football games. Not a cheap proposition by any means, and if it was done incorrectly it would be a very expensive first attempt.- 12 replies

Nice. I have to applaud Lanning for not laughing out loud at his comment.

Major Takeaways from Coach Lanning's First Oregon Signing LOI Day
Drake replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Major Takeaway. These guys can recruit. They also now have an experienced offensive line, solid QB’s, receivers, and RB’s. If they install an offense that puts big numbers on the scoreboard, coupled with an aggressive defense with arguably the best linebackers in the country, they will definitely grab the attention of lots of future recruits. They really do have an opportunity to gain traction quickly. I am excited for the potential of this coaching staff, and our existing players. As a fan, I will definitely do my part to help make sure Autzen rocks again. -
Having two teams that have potential to make it to the CFP is great for the PAC12. It makes winning the PAC 12 more meaningful and a game against USC becomes a must watch event. Strong competition is what great sporting events are all about. Lincoln Riley is a good coach, but hasn’t shown well on College football’s biggest stage. Let’s keep that streak going. Go Ducks!!!

"This is Dan Lanning Winning" Why Florence is so Big for Oregon
Drake replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lanning making that call to him is impressive. Florence has a pretty cool memory to share with others for a lifetime. Lanning put in a solid effort and brought a top notch player to Eugene. Great story. Welcome to Duck football Jahlil Florence. -
Lanning Laws: “That Won’t Last a Week at Oregon”
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
How many players are named as a starter based upon their showboating and trash talking abilities? Emotions can run high in any given game. Teaching the players how to channel those emotions would be a welcome step in the right direction. -
Oregon Gets Another D-Lineman via Portal From Nebraska

I have to think spurning Phil Knight is not a good career move. -
Having played a lot of intramural sports at U of O, there are definitely students attending that could play on scholarship at smaller schools. A student athlete at Oregon is chosen from some of the best athletes in the country, and sometimes outside the country. I applaud anyone that tries to make the team, and cheer for those few that make it.

The Best Bowl Performers In Oregon Ducks History
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Kiko Alonso’s interception of Russel Wilson in the 2012 Rose Bowl was memorable, and a huge play in a hard fought Rose Bowl victory. With the Ducks trailing late in the 3rd quarter Kiko made his diving interception which tilted the momentum in our favor. Wisconsin still had a chance to win that game on it’s last possession. Duck fans got their moneys worth in that game. Who can forget Chip Kelly jumping up and down on the sideline when the fumble somehow stayed in bounds ending Wisconsin’s final drive. -
So Hayward Field IS Part of the Recruiting Trip!
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon’s sports facilities are World Class. Hayward Field is the Crown Jewel in my opinion. Track really put Eugene and the U of O on the map. Track Town USA. What a history. Phil Knight, thank you. -
With guys in the wings that are working their butts off to get playing time it pushes everyone else at that position. I don’t see a big downside to this guy if he becomes one of those guys. A year in the weight room with our new trainer may do wonders. Our new trainer appears to be a top notch guy that will motivate these kids to be their best.

Huskies Cannot BELIEVE Their New Staff is Ranked Below Oregon!
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Last year the puppy fans projected that they would have a shot at the conference title before any games were played. This year they have a program that will build character. At least they are starting to set achievable goals. Building character is much easier than winning games. The Montana game at least knocked some sense into some of them. -
How Lanning Can Make Oregon “Georgia West”
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree that the DL is the heart and soul of the defense. This year we know that Oregon’s recruiting takes a hit. However, Lanning has an opportunity to take a big step forward with recruiting if he gets this team on track with a stingy defense and a wide open offense. Duplicating Georgia’s defensive line anytime soon isn’t very realistic. However, winning games by wide margins gets attention. Boot stomping lesser teams would be a good start. Lanning has compiled a solid coaching staff and inherited a solid core of players. Fans at Autzen know a good product when they see one. I hope this staff helps to return Autzen to one of the loudest stadiums in college football. -
Bad Influences in Oregon High School Recruiting

The inside of the Delta house was the old Sigma Nu fraternity house. I was a Sigma Nu after the movie was filmed (1979). The basement of that house is where the original “Shout scene” was filmed. Many toga parties took place after that movie, and of course “Shout” was really required to be one of the songs blaring on the speaker system that was left by the film crew. More than once the police would arrive to quiet things down. Sacred Heart hospital was nearby. The outside of Delta house was an old run down house next door to the old Sigma Nu house. It was torn down long ago. The Sigma Nu’s lost their charter and sold that house. It was on E 13th St., and the Mill race was conveniently located on the edge of the backyard. Great memories from those years…the Ducks were far from being a powerhouse football program back then. However, i still went to every home game and tailgated with at least a keg or two of beer in the back of my pickup. Good way to make lots of friends…lol

Former Player Confirms Mario Cristobal Meddling in the Offense

Dull, low scoring, and predictable is no way to go through life, Coach.
