The coaching staff is stellar but Lanning's never been an HC. Even so I still think he'll be fine because he's surrounded himself with quality assistants and seems to be the kind of coach that is not a micro manager. That and the teams loaded with talent. Success for me is to win the north and play for the P12 championship. Anything after that is icing on the cake.

Get rid of the CFP committee so who goes doesn't have a human factor involved. But then what would ESPN have to do on Sunday afternoons if they weren't trying to make money from their reveal shows? Bust up the football conferences and make 4 conferences and the winner of those goes to the CFP. We don't need 8-12 teams vying for the title. There would be plenty of action with 4 conferences having divisional playoff games to determine who goes to the CFP. Getting rid of the human decision making factor would go a long way towards more fairness as to who does or doesn't go.

HD is spot on. I get the "Lets expand" idea but what that really does is say "Hey my teams not good enough to make it on their own". Expanding the playoffs only allows those that wouldn't make it to make it and still lose. Should a 9-3 P12 team deserve to be there? No 10-2, 9-3 P12 Champ will ever win the CFP. Money would be the only reason for expansion right now concerning the P12 For the most part the P12 has stunk up the bowl season for quite a few years. It's hard to argue for expansion when P12 teams lose so many mediocre bowl games. IMO it boils down to win your conference with 1 loss and you should be in. Unfortunately in the P12 that doesn't happen very often because there simply just aren't any teams good enough to do that on a regular basis. Win your games and you earn the right to get there.

I always liked the look of a stadium filled with fans wearing the same colors. Even though Oregon has designated colors for each game it still looks like a kaleidoscope in the stands. There's so many options that people seem to just wear what they feel like. All subjective of course. On the other side I have no problem with most styles/color combos and really like the white/grey/chrome look which is not even close to school colors. I can handle the black look as well. The uni choices are so far ingrained as part of who the Ducks are that there's probably no turning back at this point.

MC is a micro manager. Until he changes nothing will change.

Funny that the other day I clicked on a pre season top 25 rankings article. USC wasn't even in the top 25. Looks like they have a lot of ground to make up to get anywhere near the top 10.

Those players as well as the rest of the team are going to make DL's transition to HC much easier.

Any wins over 8 would be great. Like mentioned above patience is needed this year. Should Oregon win the north? Probably but that's as far as I go for this year. What I would like to see is some blow out games. I'm okay with tight games against quality teams but unlike in the MC years, I hope Lanning puts the pedal down and throttles weaker teams. That right there will show which way the program is headed.

It very well could be that Ty isn't worthy of his 5* rating. Maybe MC was more right than wrong about not putting Ty in when fans thought he should've. Bringing Bo in pretty much guarantee's the offense will not sputter to start the season. A wise move by Lanning. If Ty was all that he's been hyped to be then there wouldn't be a need to bring Bo in.

You should add that the Spring Game won't leave a bad taste in your mouth. Or so I've been told.

I think Chip Kelly would've gave TY a shot. MC was too conservative in all aspects as an HC. Two coaches on opposite ends of the coaching spectrum. I would not be surprised to see TY either start or at some point split time with Nix. MC tied everyone's hands so no one had a chance to produce to their maximum ability. Coaches and players.

I wonder if they'll enhance their audio equipment so on 3rd downs you can get a true Dolby Atmos surround sound from the chainsaw?

I don't like the Sea Hawks at all as a loooong time Steeler fan. It would be hard to watch a hawk game with him as QB.

Born and raised in Eugene how could you not be a Duck fan? Wife's mother worked at the UO registration office so we used to get her faculty seats at the 1/3 off discount since she didn't care much for football. Started going to Duck games in the late 70's early 80's.

I'd do it for way way less. I still watch it when it's meaningful to me as I'm a big time Steeler fan. But they're not on that much out here. Into the Chargers some now since JH is QB. Other than that I get into the playoffs and SB. I'd rather watch a good college game between to teams I have no affiliation with than watch a game like the Bears and Hawks play.

This is like trying to date the hot chick but you lose out to someone else then after she finds out she made a mistake you get to be 2nd choice. In the end you still got the hot chick but it doesn't feel the same.

Duck fans are giddy about Lanning who's never been an HC? I see no reason why USC won't be the fav pick to win the P12 in 2023. Heck I'd go as far to say that if the pieces fall right it's USC out of the south and maybe Oregon in the north this year. Oregon was one game away from not making the P12 Champ game last year. Strange things always happen in the P12.

The game was also on the FOX Business channel. I watched the whole game. FWIW I have Dish.

Why ruin a good golf game by keeping score.

It was gone years ago after all the marketing hype took over. Merchandizing, media rights, CFP, BCS etc. It'll never be the same again.

Interesting that the seating will go from 45,000 or so down to a projected 34,000-39,000.
