  1. I'd say the tiebreaking system needs some work when it takes until Tuesday to figure this out.
  2. Last night's win did feel similar to the unexpectedly hard-fought 15-13 win at Cal in 2010 when the Ducks were also ranked No. 1. I was at that game with my son, who loudly and legendarily (in my mind) booed a home player’s obviously faked injury. We were not sitting in a visitors section. We got some looks but that was all (later that night ESPN called out the "injury" as a blatant attempt to slow down Chip Kelly's offense). Only in Berkeley!
  3. If Oregon doesn't fumble on two consecutive possessions after coming back to take the lead in the second half -- both leading to BSU touchdowns -- the Ducks pull away and win comfortably.
  4. Condolences. The last in-person Duck game with my Dad, we somehow had tickets in the Wisconsin visitors section of Autzen (passionate but not unfriendly fans that day). Joey Harrington won the game with a late TD dive. (Also sat next to Dad at the '95 Rose Bowl). Great memories.
  5. Total eclipse of the Beavs
  6. Remember UW last season? Played down to the level of opposition and barely won week after week, then rose to the occasion against good teams (including us, unfortunately). They made it to the national championship game. Hate to take inspiration from the Huskies, but all is certainly not lost for the Ducks this season.
  7. It't not just getting to the exits, it's getting anywhere, especially at halftime. Autzen's corridors have an unsafe, overcrowded vibe. If the place is ever expanded, this needs to be addressed. For now, I'd suggest dropping the standing room-only admissions.
  8. Was watching the game in Spokane with my Cougar friend and his dad. When The Pick happened I fell on the floor in glee. They looked at me like I was deranged, but then, the Cougs have never really had an "era" of football success, just the rare occasional good season.
  9. Nine straight Sweet 16s for Gonzaga. Impressive.
  10. Ravens have been the best team in pro football for many weeks. They should win, but the Chiefs pull out some games they shouldn't win (kind of like the '23 Huskies -- another reason to root for Baltimore!)
  11. I am rooting for the Wolverines.
  12. The UH athletic director has doubts about the scheduled Aug. 24 season opener with Oregon. University Of Hawaii Athletics Needs Your Money To Survive. Here's How College Sports Finances Are Changing - Honolulu Civil Beat WWW.CIVILBEAT.ORG UH's lack of the big revenue seen by other college athletic programs is hampering its ability to compete, especially in the high-finance sport of football.
  13. The 12-team playoff enhances the regular season because so many more schools have a shot all season long.
  14. Could you also rehash the proper way of linking/attaching other articles?
  15. Couldn't help but notice that in the ESPN playoff predictor, the odds of Oregon making it to CFP assuming they win out dropped from like 76% to 59% despite the win over WSU. This has to do with upsets elsewhere that didn't quite happen (mainly in Big-12), and the fact that our loss to UW looks worse now that the Huskies stunk it up one week later. Still, it is BS that our CFP odds went way down in one weekend BASED ON US WINNING OUT. Considering the highly ranked teams we would have beaten, the only way that a one-loss Oregon legitimately misses the CFP is if there are four undefeated conference champs ahead of it. No one-loss team will have faced our level of competition. Will someone please tell me to quit worrying about ESPN computers?
  16. Of course the Buffs had already been totally exposed by the Ducks, so to speak.
  17. So win vs. OSU and we're in. Even if we lose, if UW loses to WSU we're in. If we lose and end up in three-way tie with UW and Utah, we are probably out. Do I have this right?
  18. I was at the UCLA game and made the mistake of trying to go the restroom and concessions during halftime. Felt downright unsafe due to the jam-packed conditions in all main walkways. Not sure that standing-room-only tix should be sold at Autzen in these conditions. Seen too many reports of mass-fatality stampedes in the news lately, and it felt tight enough for that to be a hazard.
  19. Just checked 14-day forecast in Eugene and the only day of outright rain, versus sprinkles, is (you guessed it) Saturday, Oct. 22. But hey, how accurate can a long-range forecast be?
  20. Just announced. Oregon’s game-time for marquee matchup vs. UCLA Bruins announced SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The game time has officially been released for No. 12 Oregon's big-time showdown against the No. 11 UCLA Bruins.
  21. Remember the primal scream from Nix on the sideline after he threw the pick-6 against WSU? As if he was exorcizing a demon -- he's been playing lights out ever since.
  22. The only "chaos" required is a first loss for Clemson and a second loss for Ga/Ala. We also need everyone in Big-12 to lose at least a game but that is more likely than not. When I broached the question, it was based on the supposition that the Ducks win out. Now that might require some chaos, but if it happens, I still think they'd probably get in the CFP.
  23. A huge boost would be winning the conference championship against undefeated USC. Yes, playing this ridiculous mind game every season does get old when all you should need to worry about is winning your league.
