  1. For me, I'm going to consider this to be Socratic logic at its finest! I feel so much better and at peace now . Thank you, Charles!
  2. As much as I love to root for the Pac-12, especially during the bowl season, the Huskies are my one exception. I just can't do it.
  3. If only they had a little more NIL money
  4. Yeah... it definitely got me too. It's odd how that Oregon rain can sometimes even get into our offices. It's so nice to read something like this, especially when there is so much darkness going on in this world. There are more great stories like this out there to be found. I wish the writers would look for more of them.
  5. In Joey's day, from 1998-2001, with a bowl game, they played 12 games. All props and thanks to Joey for leading the Ducks to 10-2 & 11-1 seasons, respectively, in 2000 & 2001. Those were some great teams, not to mention that our 2001 Ducks got screwed out of playing in the title game -- and likely would have beaten Miami. But playing 13 games and winning 10, is still a big deal. Especially in a rebuilding year.
  6. Just the fact that our last 2 bowl wins have had identical scores of 28-27, and have been in So Cal, is kind of odd. By no means do I place any credibility whatsoever into numerology, and I never buy lottery tickets, but perhaps it might be time I pick one up
  7. That field has almost always absolutely sucked for football... and it's certainly not getting any better. The NCAA should never play another football game at that baseball field.
  8. And since Lewis did call "bank shot," I'm pretty sure that PAT is worth 2 points.
  9. I think this is an excellent Canzano article. He makes a lot of fair and strong points. I love how he defended Camden Lewis on that last, and insane, extra point kick. "To be fair to Camden Lewis, he kicked the game-winning extra point from a cow pasture. Some careful readers pointed that out to me on Wednesday night. Lewis lined up on sandy turf at Petco Park, planted his foot, and kissed the football off the left upright — and through — for the win." Lewis cracked me up after the kick as teammates were congratulating him, but he was waiving them off. Sort of like saying, "I don't deserve any love for that one." But, for those who understand the game a bit, we know he deserves huge props. As Canzano points out, for the 2022 season, Lewis went "64 for 64 on PATs and 14 of 16 on field goals and was a bright spot this season." The kid just finished the season as having one of the all-time best single-season kicking records in Oregon history. He's only a junior, so I sure hope he will be back next year.
  10. I love "strange" observations and stats like this. I don't know exactly why, but I just do. Does anyone on occasion warmly refer to you as "Cliff Clavin"? I get that on occasion and proudly accept it .
  11. Yeah... that was pretty magical. What a wonderful full-circle story. Bill Oram from OregonLive wrote a nice piece last night about this story. His dad was such a monster safety for Oregon, culminating in that magical 1994-95 run to the Rose Bowl. I almost forgot how huge he was for us. This is quite the heart-warming story. Bill Oram: Chase Cota’s winning touchdown in Holiday Bowl a storybook ending for a famed Oregon Ducks family WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM The starting strong safety on Oregon's 1995 Rose Bowl team, Chad Coda on Wednesday watched his son give...
  12. That was an insane play... just over the top impressive. He totally manhandled both of those NC defenders, which allowed Bucky to do Bucky... and be off to the races. That's a huge highlight film moment that deserves some huge props. And I think your Lanning comments are spot on. Ps. Bucky was obviously lights out last night too. Wowzaa! Plus, Bucky's post game interview was great as he started out praising his O-line. O-line studs rarely get the props they so greatly deserve, and when their backs give them the love and credit they deserve, for some reason, holes open up just a tad bit wider too It's great to see a fabulous athlete like Bucky pull the attention off of himself, and shine a huge light onto the guys in the trenches.
  13. In 2011, Chip & the Ducks beat Wisconsin 45-38 in the Rose Bowl and fnished the season 12-2. That game was a total barn-burner with Russel Wilson at the helm for the Badgers. In 2019, Justin and the Ducks beat Wisconsin by 1 in the Rose Bowl 28-27. Another 12-2 season and another wild bowl win. That might be the game you were thinking of.
  14. Clearly he has not recovered from his injury. He's not even able to slide properly.
  15. Not really. But I am annoyed at how our Ducks are playing.
  16. Congrats to the Beavers on an excellent season, and for nabbing a likely great transfer. As Oregon has been great for Nix, Coach Smith & OSU will likely be great for this kid too. But next year, we must crush those Willamette River Rats!
  17. Neil also developed a major degenerative hip problem, arguably due to too many beatings from Lawrence Taylor. After Neil's career ended, he had hip replacement surgery.
  18. Justin had exceeded all expectations. It's just incredible. However, if the Bolts don't solve the 20 sacks on Justin over just the last 5 games, like Neil Lomax, Justin will likely have a relatively short career. Either that or he will have to find a new team to play for.
  19. But PKA, Phil Knight Air, has non-stop flights anywhere in the US.
  20. It's a weekday, January 2nd, bowl this year. As long as the Rose & Orange Bowl are part of the CFP, they'll be a big deal in those years. Otherwise, they'll primarily just have a nice history.
  21. - Eugene average annual rainfall 46 inches - Seattle average annual rainfall 37 inches - Eugene average annual number of days with precipitation 151 - Seattle average annual number of days with precipitation 152 Seattle sucks, but from a weather standpoint, both are wet & gray. Per capita number of pompous schmucks: Unknown. But anecdotally, I'd have to agree that Seattle wins this category by a seemingly wide margin.
  22. I'm a Duck alum and I cant stand the Huskies as much as the next guy. But academically, Oregon does not compete with UW. But as far as a classic "College Town," Eugene and "Faber University" absolutely win.
  23. What's "major" about the Rose Bowl these days? Unless it's a year when they're part of the College Football Playoffs, I'm sad to say that today, it's pretty much just another one of 41 bowl games.
  24. All I can say is that OU better have this kids signature in blue ink, on paper -- or it might be, "Hello Longhorns" by tomorrow.
