I'm with Notalot. One game doesn't make a season. Today's game is important because it's against the Beavers. My family is split in this rivalry two daughters went to OSU and one to Oregon. Their husbands and children will watch the game with us. It is spirited fun and an all day get together! We love to tease the other side but it is "civil"! I can agree with everything you wrote. Good points to ponder and discuss. The high risk decisions have given the Ducks a lot of upside, but there has been some ugly "Why are you doing that?" moments. I feel our favorite Sheldon High School quarterback is playing for a similar young head coach of the Chargers. It's been an interesting season for Justin! However, football is always evolving. Thank goodness we aren't stuck in the old Woody Hays era of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Oops, sorry, I forgot about the Prevent Offense of Mari. New head coaches push the envelope looking for an edge. The forward pass was a risky endeavor at one time. Now look, 400 yards passing in a game happens all the time. I can only hope that the evolving of our beloved Duck coaches comes with less downside and more experience of the upside. Thank you Charles for your analysis and concern. The Ducks are 8-2 and for the season they are playing exciting football. The offense is unpredictable and prolific (compared to the Prevent O of the recent past). The defense is improving. They fix mistakes. Overall the young coaches are doing a fantastic job. I hope they are long time Oregon Ducks!

If I remember correctly, didn't Oregon State play Washington during a torrential rain storm? Penix played practically a perfect game against the Ducks. That's harder to do in a monsoon. I'm looking forward to see how OBD respond against Utah - a very good team. I'm confident about Oregon against the Beavers. Go Ducks!

Especially after our former head coach bailed on his team, and the end of the world seemed to be our destiny. That was a competitive game yesterday! Washington played the best game of their season. We didn't. We have a team that will get better. The coaches will get better. Oregon has a chance to finish 10-2 and go to a good bowl. Go Ducks!

It seems that the first play called for Thompson is a screen pass every time he goes in. Every defense should be aware of it because it's relatively an easy throw and is the usual call. Hasn't worked yet. Why not use some other part of our incredible offense and give him a chance? IMHO -Just to be fair to him.

The only things missing from the Pac-12 referee gear are white canes and seeing eye dogs! Gonzo was in bounds and Bo was on the bodies under him. Every week they exude incompetence!

Yes Alex I agree with your points. The Ducks will continue to improve in all areas. The defensive line gave a dominant performance against Cal last week. I, too, would like to see the linebackers do the same this week. A shutout would be fantastic. But I think our head coach is a good sport and will play a lot of the second and third stringers. Thanks Coach Boles, I always love to read your analysis article each week. You do an excellent job of writing and great video to match. Sending the back out on a route is better than keeping him in to block. Often times Verdell would show his toughness and block bigger lb's or linemen. However, even when he was successful I think it helped contribute to his injuries. In the video Cal sent five to pressure Nix. No problem. The Oregon line gave him a good pocket. Oregon offense, I'm loving it!

Isn't Bo Nix 6' 2" ? IMHO It's what's between the ears and inside the heart that counts!

Sorry DuckFan93. I just checked Fox 12 Portland tv schedule and only game listed is a 1:00 pm game for regional broadcast. No info on which teams. It doesn't look like we'll be able to watch Herbert and Mariota in Portland.
