Best wishes for a good and speedy healing! I always liked him as Oregon back. Thought he was the best running back during his time when he was a Duck.

The 7-Jeff? Defensive Surprises in Store for the Huskies
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Here's hoping Oregon brings a lot of surprises to the Huskies. Getting into the head of Penix with different coverages is a must. Havoc must be the order of the day. Thanks for a great analysis of defensive adjustments Oregon may make. I always look forward to reading your terrific insights! -
Lanning Deserves Praise for Oregon’s Offensive Renaissance
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thank you Joshua for your reassuring words about Coach Lanning. The Oregon offense this year is fun to watch - unpredictable and exciting! Just when a defense thinks they know what is coming, a new complementary angle is added. I agree with Haywarduck, "A guy who has never been a head coach, who is extremely young, is a Maestro with a headset. I suppose the only question is can he be an even better head coach, stay tuned." I appreciate all your articles Joshua and look forward to more! -
A Great Win ... But What's Going on With Ty Thompson?
Smith72 replied to Mic's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It seems that the first play called for Thompson is a screen pass every time he goes in. Every defense should be aware of it because it's relatively an easy throw and is the usual call. Hasn't worked yet. Why not use some other part of our incredible offense and give him a chance? IMHO -Just to be fair to him. -
GameDay Thread versus Colorado: Join Us!

The only things missing from the Pac-12 referee gear are white canes and seeing eye dogs! Gonzo was in bounds and Bo was on the bodies under him. Every week they exude incompetence! -
What the Oregon Ducks Need to Prove Against Colorado
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes Alex I agree with your points. The Ducks will continue to improve in all areas. The defensive line gave a dominant performance against Cal last week. I, too, would like to see the linebackers do the same this week. A shutout would be fantastic. But I think our head coach is a good sport and will play a lot of the second and third stringers. Thanks for another great FishDuck article to read and get ready for Duck football.- 1 reply

A view from the Colorado perspective. Friday's Fast Five: Keys For Buffs Vs. The Oregon Ducks Offense: Four Verts
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks Coach Boles, I always love to read your analysis article each week. You do an excellent job of writing and great video to match. Sending the back out on a route is better than keeping him in to block. Often times Verdell would show his toughness and block bigger lb's or linemen. However, even when he was successful I think it helped contribute to his injuries. In the video Cal sent five to pressure Nix. No problem. The Oregon line gave him a good pocket. Oregon offense, I'm loving it! -

Isn't Bo Nix 6' 2" ? IMHO It's what's between the ears and inside the heart that counts! -
Dan Lanning is Embracing the Middle Eight Theory
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
David, you did a great job of describing this theory. You summarized your article by saying, "This is part of a well thought out and executed game plan..." Isn't it nice to have a head coach who is using every tool and strategy to make Oregon successful! Your description was well thought out and easy to understand. Thank you! -
Sorry DuckFan93. I just checked Fox 12 Portland tv schedule and only game listed is a 1:00 pm game for regional broadcast. No info on which teams. It doesn't look like we'll be able to watch Herbert and Mariota in Portland.

I'm looking forward to learning more about Coach Dillingham's offense in future articles. This site is the best place to read about Oregon Ducks.

Ducks Squash Trap Game Fears in Win Over Golden Bears

Thanks Jordan, excellent recap of the game. Coaches and players are truly taking it one game at a time. Hungry and humble as Dan Lanning said. -
Holy Crap! The Game at Colorado is on ESPN?
Smith72 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
When you have an exciting offense scoring boatloads of points and QB Bo Nix lighting up the scoreboard with his passing and running the networks will set a game time that will draw lots of viewers! Go Ducks! -
Oregon opponents will usually bring their best. The Cal Bears did for a quarter and a half. They have some good players with pride. But I am really impressed how the Oregon coaches problem solve, communicate what is needed to the players, and take control of the last 6 games! Improved execution of both offense and defense is visible. 42 points scored today. The defense had interceptions, sacks, and tackles for loss. Dominating. Garbage time doesn't matter. Monday the team goes back to the doctor to fix problems and continue to get better. What a team! Go Ducks!

FishDuck Analysts Offer Insights for Cal Game
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks, DazeNconfused and Mr. FishDuck, for a good look at what to expect from the Cal game today. The two of you should be hired by the networks! Your insights are so good. It will be great to end the Strawberry Canyon past with a Lanning (and staff) Landslide! -

Awesome amount of perseverance and integrity! True grit exemplified. Congratulations and best wishes for you Cam!

Is Lanning’s New Game-Plan…Chip Kelly 2.0?
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Charles you gave us so much to think about. In today's wonderful article you summarized Coach Dillingham's, offense as, "it’s more important to be efficient, to make the most of every precious drive." We now have the term average number of points per possession. While reading I remembered the movie Moneyball, and the use of statistics to change how baseball was played. Coach Tony DeMeo's shortening the game strategy was eye opening for me. These strategies fit together. Scoring efficiently but shortening the game at the appropriate time is genius! This explains what we see happening with the Oregon team. I am so thankful we have a staff of bright coaches working in tandem teaching and guiding Our Beloved Ducks! And thank you Charles for sharing your insights! -
I like his quick feet, long arms, good hand fighting. In the first video clip he used quick feet and lower body to shield a fast pass rusher from the QB. He brought his arms up high where some linemen would have grabbed the defender getting a holding call. Like someone earlier said, "You can't coach big." I like this guy. Welcome to the University of Oregon George!
