GameDay Thread of Pac-12 Championship Game: the MENTAL, Not the Physical Side Will Win
You're right about the front 6, d line and Sewell are playing their hearts out! But our pass defense is bend and break. Anytime Utah needs a pass - our db's playing zone watch them catch the ball!

GameDay Thread of Pac-12 Championship Game: the MENTAL, Not the Physical Side Will Win
This is uglier than the last game! Totally out coached! Sad for the players. ALL Oregon Coaches can recruit but in my humble opinion they ALL need major improvement in game coaching!!!

GameDay Thread of Pac-12 Championship Game: the MENTAL, Not the Physical Side Will Win
Who teaches technique to our defensive backs? Too big of a cushion. Every time Utah needs a first down they throw a slant for good yards. Easiest throw in football!

GameDay Thread of Pac-12 Championship Game: the MENTAL, Not the Physical Side Will Win
When will the pac-12 get professional referees. Pass interference? Pass interference? Pac -12 referees consistently miss call games all season. Unfair to all teams!

GameDay Thread of Pac-12 Championship Game: the MENTAL, Not the Physical Side Will Win
Of all your "mental" points, I hope the mental discipline to go penalty free occurs in the game. Those mental lapses have killed too many drives. Those selfish "jawing" at the opponent unsportsmanlike penalties need to be stopped. Just walk away! Thanks for the well thought article! Go Ducks!

Vengeance Game?
I agree with this suggestion. However, be smart in the play calls. Take advantage of Utah's defensive weaknesses. Let the various running plays and great blocking we saw against Washington and Oregon State set up the passing game that saw AB complete 23 of 28 passes against OSU!

The “Matured” Inside Zone: Cristobal/Moorhead’s Favorite Play
Thanks Charles for the analysis! Great vision and quick acceleration by our running backs! Never Say Dye has been my favorite for a long time. It's nice to see Cardwell have that same vision and quickness! The future looks great. I simply love the intelligence and power blocking of our linemen. The running game will set up the passing game! Go Ducks!

Oregon/OSU GameDay Thread: What is Oregon’s Identity? What Should it Be?
A good "civil war" victory! A great deal of improvement on offense and defense for 3 quarters!. But when are we going to cure those false starts? When will we improve pass coverage on the easiest pass to throw - the slant? Hope everyone heals quickly! Beat the Utes!

Yes! McKinley! Super Safety!

Tight coverage and perfect throw and catch!

Oregon/OSU GameDay Thread: What is Oregon’s Identity? What Should it Be?
Prevent points - check! Score points - check! Follow the Fish Duck game plan 1st half.- check! Repeat 2nd half - GO DUCKS!

Oregon/OSU GameDay Thread: What is Oregon’s Identity? What Should it Be?
Just a little more arc (air under the ball) and that's a touchdown!

Oregon/OSU GameDay Thread: What is Oregon’s Identity? What Should it Be?
I couldn't have said it any better! "...the emphasis should be focused on points; preventing them on defense and scoring boatloads of them on offense." Without Mental Toughness, You panic and/or shoot yourself in the foot with penalties. Thanks Charles!

Oregon’s Defensive Fire Follows Sewell
Good observations about this wonderful young linebacker. Thanks Alex! How high is Noah Sewell's ceiling? Will he recharge the defense's energy? He is improving each game. I think he has the talent and desire to accomplish all his goals and be the leader Oregon needs!

Wither College Football (CFB) the Pac-12 and the Oregon Ducks?
Thank you for your well written article Jon. You presented a lot of data that is hard to ignore. "But in my experience, businesses that focus only on quarterly profits and immediate results fail far more often than do businesses with long term strategies. Especially strategies designed to increase market size and market share. Even if an acquisition dings the bottom line in the short run." Excellent point to ponder!

Fire the Coach?
All of us love our Ducks. All of us get frustrated at times when we watch a game and mistakes, bad decisions, and goofs happen. I know I have posted several criticisms of the coaches and game action. I even wrote an article calling on our team to play "smarter" AND "physical". I remember my worst losses and the mistakes I made during my career. But I also know that I improved as a coach after time. I think I'm smarter and would be a better coach now. But, alas, I'm too old! I have to remind myself that I am no longer an active coach. I'm just a "couch" coach! I tell myself that I am not in the locker room anymore. I'm not on the field during practices or in the weight room lifting beside the players. I really don't know what's going on out of the public view. So, I love to share my opinions, but after self reflection (and the help of my wife), I get ready for the next game and move on. I have been pleasantly surprised by the growth and improvement during the season! Too many good things to share in this post. Another article maybe. Never say Dye! The best is yet to come! I have faith we have the best head coach possible now and in the years to come.

Herbert so smart, so accurate, so quick to release the ball, and a rocket for an arm! Love this Duck alum! Go Chargers!

Coaching Question
The result after this year is we have 3 talented quarterbacks without any true game experience! Next year will be a struggle because of this issue.

Oregon Football: Ducks Crash and Burn, Raising Tough Questions
Oregon's offensive line are great run blockers! However, they are too slow to set up for pass blocking. Coach decision to work the passing game from the outset was fatally flawed! Oregon's defensive decision all season to rely upon zone pass defense has given opposing quarterbacks record passing yards. How many times have we seen a wide open receiver catch a pass surrounded by 3 or 4 ducks guarding "turf"? The easiest pass for any quarterback is a slant or dig across the middle. We have 4 & 5 star defensive backs. Why can't they be taught to cover man and take away the easy inside pass route? By the way why is the future #1 NFL draft pass rusher dropping back into zone coverage and guarding "grass"? I facetiously asked yesterday on the game thread "Where is Tom Osborn?". He was the Special Teams and Tight End coach at Oregon back when special teams were awesome! Our coaching effort in this area needs major improvement. Supposedly we have more talent on this team. Highly recruited backups can't be motivated or taught? Lots of bad decisions yesterday! Mostly by all the coaches!
